Fallout 76 Season 21: Gone Fission is set to launch today, offering players the chance to indulge in one of the most calming hobbies around within the Appalachian landscape once the update is live post the scheduled maintenance period.
You'll have the opportunity to reel in a variety of fish with varying rarities including the Noxious Sawgill, the Bloodwhisker, the Glowing Gulpy and rare axolotls. Bethesda has stated that it will be rotating the fish available for catching in-game every month – all you need to participate is a fishing rod and bait.
Additionally, you can give your C. A.M.P. a marine-themed makeover with the Fallout 76 Season 21 rewards available in the Season Pass, which include a Hanging Dolphish, a display for your fishing rods, and various pieces of seaweed-strewn furniture and items, such as a Seaweed Stashbox.
One of the major highlights we're eagerly anticipating in today's update is the Cannery, which was postponed from its Season 20 debut and shifted to Season 21 instead, according to reliable dataminer, NukaKnights.

Bethesda has unveiled the Fallout 76 Season 21 rewards on its website, providing fans with a detailed glimpse of some of these in a blog post centred around the Gone Fission update. The eleven pages are brimming with player titles, while some of the more imaginative content, such as Lily Pads, is exclusive to Fallout 1st members, sparking debate over whether this constitutes filler content or not. Starfield has been redeemed - by turning it into a huge Star Wars RPG

One of the most ambitious fan projects ever has transformed Starfield into a massive Star Wars role-playing game that's incredibly authentic. Although it's by no mean a terrible game, Starfield is a huge disappointment, given it was the long-awaited new release from the creators of The Elder Scrolls and Fallout 4. Outdated, under-designed, and with some really odd gameplay decisions, up until now it's not even had the benefit of a thriving mod community. Compared to Bethesda's other games, there's been relatively little interest amongst the fan community in creating new content for the game, or so we thought. That's all been made up for now, by Star Wars Genesis: a fan-made total conversion that is completely free and considerably more impressive than the parent game. Starfield obviously took quite a bit of inspiration from Star Wars, as well as dozens of other sci-fi series, so it's not as if everything has had to be changed, but the amount of effort that's gone into it is extraordinary, from landspeeders on Tatooine to a recreation of the Yuuzhan Vong storyline from the old expanded universe. Rather than a single entity, Genesis is what is called a modlist, bringing together different mods, big and small, by different fans and making sure they all work together. We'd never even heard of it until today, when we saw it highlighted on ResetEra, but it's already on version 8.2 and is apparently surprisingly stable. As you can see, the graphics aren't as good as the recent Star Wars Outlaws but you've got to remember this is fan made, and it's not as if Starfield itself was particularly accomplished in terms of its visuals. Even so, you get a recreation of Coruscant and Tatooine, and redressings of existing Starfield locations to look more Star Wars-y. There's also new enemy factions, new quest content, and new bosses, but also bug fixes and faster loading – with the various modders certainly not being slow to criticise the base game. 'Vanilla Starfield is best described as a bland exploration game with simply nothing out there for you to explore. Thousands of planets filled with the same repetitive locations, biomes, and enemies. Genesis addresses that by adding new, unique experiences across the galaxy,' reads the introduction on the official website. 'Star Wars Genesis is developed with a gameplay-first philosophy. The goal is an immersive RPG with a unique story and expansive endgame, rather than a re-skin of Starfield with the same flaws,' it adds. More Trending Rather than Starfield itself, the mods list MMO Star Wars Galaxies and BioWare's Knights Of The Old Republic as the primary inspiration, as well as 'Legends', which is the official name for the old expanded universe stories. You can certainly see those influences in the huge range of different roles you can take on, including being a drifter on Tatooine, where you can build outposts, fight Tusken Raiders, and trade with Jawas. You can also be a smuggler and work in the underworld on Coruscant – with criminal syndicates like the Hutts and Pykes, join the Empire, or play as a Mandalorian. It's an extraordinary effort and while it's only available on PC hopefully it'll give Lucasfilm some inspiration to get an official new role-playing game made, as it's been over two decades now and it's looking increasingly like the promised Knights Of The Old Republic remake is never happening. Starfield on PS5 rumoured for 2026 but risks coming out alongside GTA 6

Sales for Starfield's first DLC were apparently so bad that Microsoft is holding back the PS5 port until 2026. There is something sadly tragic about Microsoft buying Bethesda to secure its then upcoming sci-fi epic Starfield as an Xbox exclusive (something Xbox boss Phil Spencer admitted to), only for the game to be far less well received than The Elder Scrolls or Fallout. Since Starfield's launch, Microsoft has pivoted to porting its exclusives to other platforms and while it's not been formally confirmed, it's widely rumoured that Starfield will follow suit and come to PlayStation 5 eventually. It feels like a safe assumption when even established Xbox franchises like Gears Of War are announced for PlayStation formats and the newest rumour claims Starfield was meant to appear on Sony's console this year, but has since been delayed. According to MP1st, part of the reason for the delay was because of how poorly Starfield's first DLC expansion, Shattered Space, sold when it launched last October. While there are no official sales figures for the expansion, it reviewed even worse than the base game and user reviews on Steam remain mostly negative. Apparently, the plan now is to release Starfield on PlayStation 5 in spring 2026, alongside the game's second expansion (as a reminder, Bethesda has promised new DLC every year) and new quality-of-life updates. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. This would be a sensible move. While Starfield's middling reputation has no doubt decreased PlayStation 5 owners' excitement for the game, a higher quality expansion and updates could make it more appealing and potentially give it a second wind. However, a spring 2026 window is worryingly close to GTA 6, the most anticipated game of the year that's scheduled to launch on May 26. If Microsoft doesn't want Starfield's PlayStation 5 port to be overshadowed, it'll need to get it out as early as possible in March. After all, GTA 6 is such a huge release that other publishers are actively trying to avoid launching their games around the same time. More Trending Just last year, Xbox's president of gaming content Matt Booty admitted the looming presence of GTA 6 was a factor for why several Xbox exclusives, like Perfect Dark, lacked firm release dates. 'I think many across the industry are of course going to plan around GTA 6,' he said, adding it was also to make sure 'we don't step on ourselves,' noting Microsoft has a 'big portfolio.' Although those comments haven't aged well, as several games, including Perfect Dark, were cancelled as part of Microsoft's last wave of layoffs. It is entirely possible GTA 6 will be delayed again (something publishers are worried could happen), but that's not something you'd want to bet on if you were a rival publisher. All-star cast join Ballad Lines musical for 18 track album

The album will be launched with a special one-off concert at Cottiers in Glasgow on Monday, September 15. The album features original songs alongside some reimagined traditional Scottish and Appalachian ballads. The music is from the Scottish folk musical Ballad Lines and will feature an all-female band made up of one of Scotland's foremost acoustic guitarists Anna Massie, renowned Highland fiddle player Laura Wilkie, electric guitarist Jenny Clifford, bassist Charlotte Printer and Scottish-Icelandic percussionist and drummer Signy Jakobsdottir. In the run-up to the album launch, a teaser EP will be released on July 18 with a single – Queen Among The Heather – to be released on August 29. Previously known as A Mother's Song, Ballad Lines is a five star-reviewed new musical that shines a light on how th songs and choices of our ancestor can change the course of our futures. The 18 songs will include new arrangements of Handsome Molly, The Four Marys and Let No Man Steal Your Thyme alongside 14 original songs by Finn Anderson. The musicians on the album come from a diverse range of folk, roots, pop, rock and alternative music scenes and draws on a range of styles. Read More The musical began in 2014 after being created by Anderson and Tania Azevedo and it was commissioned by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Northwestern's American Music Theatre Project. Anderson said: 'This has been one of the most challenging and exciting projects of my career so far - a culmination of everything I've learned working in music and theatre over the past decade. 'Our dream for this project was to create a true fusion of folk and musical theatre. For the album, we've brought together some of the most exciting folk and traditional musicians and singers from Scotland and North America, alongside some of the UK's best musical theatre performers. 'The result is an 18-track score that I hope captures both the authenticity of traditional Scottish and Appalachian ballad storytelling, and the dramatic emotional sweep of great musical theatre. Most of the musicians and folk singers on the album have not worked in theatre before, and the Scottish and Appalachian traditional styles are relatively untapped territory for a musical. 'As an artist who straddles the music and theatre scenes. it's so rewarding for me to cross-pollinate and blend these two worlds, bringing artists from the different sides of my work together in a way that feels really authentic to who I am and also just really right for this story. 'Ballad Lines explores how songs travel — how they evolve, shift, and change hands over time. So it feels especially meaningful to have assembled a cross-genre, cross-continental company to bring these songs to life.' Tania added: 'Ballad Lines places queer and female voices at the heart of an art form historically dominated by patriarchal narratives. 'By reinterpreting traditional ballads through the lens of a modern queer woman tracing her matrilineal line, we both hope this show reclaims folklore as a space for diverse, intersectional storytelling—something rarely seen in either folk or musical theatre.'
