NBA Experts Disrespect Detroit Pistons in Prediction Before Knicks Series
With the regular season over, some teams still await to hear which team they will face in first round of the NBA Playoffs.
Other teams, like the Detroit Pistons, have the privilege of knowing which team they'll face and have almost a full week to prepare.

The Pistons' turnaround is one of historic proportions.
After finishing 14-68 and last in the Eastern Conference a year ago, the Pistons improved by 30 wins to go 44-38 and avoid the NBA Play-In Tournament.
The improvement of 30 wins ranks seventh among the largest single-season turnarounds in NBA history.

NBA Experts disrespect Detroit Pistons
The turnaround started when they hired J.B. Bickerstaff after being fired from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Cade Cunningham was the catalyst on the floor. He averaged 26.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 9.1 assists this season. He was favored for the Most Improved Player of the Year award for much of the season until the odds shifted in favor of Atlanta's Dyson Daniels late in the season.

The Pistons also owned this matchup this season. In four games, they went 3-1. In those games, Cunningham averaged 30.8 points, 8.3 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game.
Despite those factors, it wasn't enough for ESPN's experts to pick against the Knicks, as all 10 picked New York to win the series.
Four predicted the Knicks would win in seven games, three in six games, and three in five games.
The Pistons have a few edges on the Knicks. The first is on defense. The Pistons finished the year No. 9 in defensive efficiency.
The second is on the boards. Detroit was the No. 8 team in total rebounds, while the Knicks were No. 23.
New York is a -430 favorite to defeat Detroit, which is an implied probability of 81.13%. Who would you take?

Should Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla worry about Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau's firing?
Should Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla be worried about the firing of New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau? The Knicks front office recently came to the decision that it was time to move on from Thibs despite the former Boston assistant coach having gotten New York farther than they have been in the playoffs for the last quarter-century. Mazzulla, for his part, saw his Celtics fall to the Knicks on their way to the 2025 NBA Eastern Conference Finals series many assumed Boston was a shoo-in to make at the start of the postseason. If the now-former Knicks coach is not safe, does that mean Mazzulla could also be at risk of losing his job? Or is this move by New York more indicative of their internal culture and lack of patience, and less of the league more generally? Advertisement The folks behind the "NESN" YouTube channel put together a clip from their "Boston has Entered the Chat" show to talk it over. Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say. This article originally appeared on Celtics Wire: Should Joe Mazzulla worry about Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau's firing?

Knicks Threw Celebration Just Hours Before Tom Thibodeau's Firing
Knicks Threw Celebration Just Hours Before Tom Thibodeau's Firing originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Even though the New York Knicks were eliminated in the Eastern Conference finals by the Indiana Pacers last Saturday, the team still had a lot to be proud of. Advertisement The Knicks' playoff journey had all the highs and heartbreak New York basketball fans have come to expect. After finishing the regular season strong, they took down the Detroit Pistons in a six-game first-round series. Then, they faced the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals, winning the series in six games. However, in the Eastern Conference finals, they struggled to keep up with the Pacers and were ultimately eliminated in Game 6. It was the first time in 25 years that the Knicks made the finals. On Monday night, the team partied it up at The Fleur Room, a rooftop nightclub in the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan, to celebrate their playoff run and strong season. Knicks stars Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, Cameron Payne, PJ Tucker and more were all in attendance. Photos were shared with the New York Post on Wednesday evening. Despite the successful 2024-2025 season, the Knicks released a statement on Tuesday afternoon announcing that they fired head coach Tom Thibodeau, only three days after the end of the Eastern Conference finals. He was hired in 2020. Advertisement "Our organization is singularly focused on winning a championship for our fans," Knicks president Leon Rose said in a statement. "This pursuit led us to the decision to inform Tom Thibodeau that we've decided to move in another direction."
