Prince Harry Reportedly 'Full Of Regrets' Over His Role In The Royal Rift Amid Plea For Reconciliation

Yahoo8 hours ago

Prince Harry "regrets" the role he played in the ongoing rift with the royal family, especially after he and his wife, Meghan Markle, quit their roles as working royals.
According to a new report, the Duke of Sussex wishes he had handled things "differently," as the feud between the two parties appears to have no end in sight.
This follows the revelation that Prince Harry intends to extend an olive branch to his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, by inviting them both to the 2027 Invictus Games.
Harry and Meghan have been at odds with the royal family since the couple stepped back from their roles as senior royals and relocated to the U.S.
Things further worsened when the pair had a sit-down with famous talk show host Oprah Winfrey and made allegations of bullying and racism against the royal family.
Shortly afterwards, Harry dropped his bombshell memoir, "Spare," in which he made further strong allegations against his family members.
According to royal author, Duncan Larcombe, Harry now regrets his actions and wishes he had taken a different approach.
"Harry is a sensitive soul and always wore his heart on his sleeve, so whether he'd admit it publicly or not, I'm sure he's full of regrets and wishes he'd done things differently," Larcombe told OK! Magazine.
He continued, "With Trooping the Colour and Father's Day falling on the same weekend, it was bound to make him look back at the happy relationships he once had with his brother and dad, and I'm sure he'd love to be able to rebuild those."
The remarks by author Larcombe come after it was alleged that Harry is planning to invite King Charles and Prince William to the 2027 Invictus Games in a move that could mark the beginning of a royal reconciliation.
The games, which will be held in Birmingham in July of that year, may serve as the setting for a long-awaited family reunion.
According to sources, the Duke of Sussex has already approved a proposed royal guest list and helped shape the language of the upcoming invitations.
Initial outreach to Buckingham Palace is expected to be made via email this month, with formal invitations to follow as the event draws closer.
An insider told the Daily Mail that Harry is open to having his relatives present, noting, "The Royals have always been hugely supportive of Invictus and proud of what Harry has achieved in that arena. This is one olive branch from him that might be reciprocated."
However, the royal family may face a delicate dilemma as the 2027 Invictus Games are scheduled to run from July 12 to July 17, dates that overlap with Queen Camilla's 80th birthday, a milestone already being marked with planned celebrations.
The invitation to the Invictus Games is said to mark Harry's first public outreach to his family since tensions began more than five years ago, and with the idea of reconciliation back in the spotlight, royal experts are cautioning that deep-rooted issues, particularly those related to trust, still pose significant hurdles.
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward noted that while Charles may be inclined to attend the Invictus Games to honor the armed forces and recognize Harry's achievements, there is hesitation.
"The only reason the King is wary of associating with his son is that he no longer trusts him not to repeat their private conversations as he has done in the past. This goes for all the working members of the family," she said.
Commentator Katie Nicholl echoed the sentiment, adding that despite past tensions, the monarch still longs for a meaningful relationship with Harry and his children.
Meanwhile, royal commentator Katie Nicholl said, "The King absolutely wants a relationship with his youngest son and with his grandchildren."
She added, "He has an incredible capacity for forgiveness, and he wants to be magnanimous in all of this, and therefore there's certainly a possibility that the King might consider attending Invictus."
In an interview with the BBC last month, Harry opened up about his hopes for healing the long-standing rift within the royal family, expressing a desire to move forward, especially in light of Charles' ongoing battle with cancer.
"There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family," he admitted.
However, the duke emphasized that he's chosen forgiveness, saying, "I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. Forgiveness is 100% a possibility because I would like to get my father and brother back."
Harry also acknowledged the strain caused by ongoing disputes over security.
"My father won't speak to me because of the security stuff," he revealed, noting that after losing his legal bid for police protection, he doesn't currently "see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point."
As it stands, it's unclear whether Meghan and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, will accompany him to the 2027 Invictus Games. If she opts not to attend, it would be the first time she's missed the event since meeting Harry.
Meanwhile, according to HELLO! Magazine Harry and Meghan reportedly underwent another major staff shake-up, parting ways with four members of their team.
Among those exiting are Kyle Boulia, the couple's deputy press secretary based in Los Angeles, and Charlie Gipson, their UK press officer. According to insiders, at least two other private staffers have also recently stepped down.
These changes follow the couple's decision to bring in a new communications team, now led by Meredith Kendall Maines, who was appointed Chief Communications Officer earlier this year.
A source close to the Sussexes noted that more changes could be on the horizon.
"Something tells me there will be another change in the future," the insider said. "Meghan and Harry have hired some of the most incredible people at the top of their fields, yet somehow none of them ever work out."

I'm A Huge Fan Of Formula 1, And I'm Totally Fine With The Most Unrealistic Parts Of Brad Pitt's F1

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Warning: Spoiler Alert! There are spoilers around every corner in this story about the racing in F1, so consider this your caution flag before proceeding. This weekend, F1 ,starring Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem, hits the 2025 movie schedule, and as a Formula 1 fan, I've been excited for this movie ever since they began shooting during the 2023 F1 season. Honestly, I expected it to be somewhat unrealistic, and it was. That didn't bother me, though. Let me explain why. Setting aside the fact that the movie never once showed race qualifying or the three practice sessions that every race has, the in-race tactics of the team led by Sonny Hayes (Pitt) and his teammate Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) are nothing like you'd see in a real Grand Prix. Harkening back to another Jerry Bruckheimer-produced racing classic, Days of Thunder, there are a lot more 'rubbin' is racin'' moments than would ever happen in a real race. Sonny's cheeky moves to disable his opponents and even his car would be sniffed out immediately by the race stewards, and he would almost certainly be black-flagged (disqualified) from the race and possibly suspended from racing. While 'rubbin'' is a somewhat normal part of NASCAR, it's insanely dangerous in F1, where the cars are much more delicate (and much faster). In F1 these days, safety is paramount; the race officials would never, ever let a team get away with dangerous tactics like that. During the Italian Grand Prix at the world-famous Monza, the rain starts to fall hard. This isn't weird; unlike American racing, F1 races don't stop for rain (most of the time). What is weird is the discussion the team has between the drivers, Sonny and Joshua, about what tires they are going to use. The discussion is between 'slicks,' which are the normal racing tires and have no tread at all, and 'intermediates,' which are tires racers use for light rain, which do have some tread to push away the water. There is almost no situation where, in a rain as hard as it is in the movie, cars would ever stay on the track on slicks. They would have literally no grip at all. If anything, the discussion would be between intermediates or 'full wet' tires (tires with even more tread for harder rain). Staying on slicks would almost certainly end in disaster, and it does in the movie. One thing I definitely expected to see in F1 was a big, fiery crash, and boy oh boy was there one! Joshua flies off the track (because he stayed on slicks in the rain) and crashes into the barrier with tremendous force in a fireball. These kinds of crashes are the type you expect in any racing movie, but they are exceedingly rare in real races. Most crashes in a real Formula 1 race are actually kind of underwhelming; a car loses control and spins onto the gravel or into a wall, and some carbon fiber goes flying; there's almost never a fire these days, and the drivers usually climb out of their wrecked car unaided. There used to be a lot more terrible, and often deadly, crashes in F1. The movie Rush, from 2013, features one that was absolutely true to life in a race from the 1970s. However, ever since the death of the legendary Ayrton Senna (who still has millions of fans today, including Alexandra Daddario) at the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994, Formula 1 has gone all in on making the cars as safe as possible, and they have largely succeeded. That's not to say dramatic crashes never happen. During the 2020 season, Haas driver Romain Grosjean flew into a barrier at the Bahrain Grand Prix, and his car exploded into a huge fireball. Grosjean escaped safely, with a few minor burns to his hands, much like Joshua in F1. So, while the crash in the film is something that could happen, it's incredibly rare. While it may seem like I'm complaining about the racing scenes in F1, none of these things bothered me at all. As I wrote, I expected the movie to be over-the-top. Heck, I wanted it to be over-the-top. The racing scenes are amazing. As my colleague Eric Eisenberg wrote in his review of F1, F1 is an impressive technical achievement. It repeatedly offers the visceral experience of being strapped to the hood/side/back of one of the title sport's speedy cars. F1 is so much fun, especially for a fan of racing, that playing fast and loose with reality doesn't matter at all. All the racing scenes, from the moment we first see Sonny competing at the 24 Hours of Daytona, through the last bit at the Rally Mexico are amazing. Because the production had the full support of Formula 1, every racer from the 2023 season make some kind of appearance. It was like spotting Easter Eggs for a fan like me. 'Look! There's Max Verstappen! Hey, it's Fernando Alonso!' There are also the tracks. Silverstone, Spa, and Monza are three legendary tracks, and we get to see all of them extensively in the movie. It's just a really fun ride. F1 is the epitome of a popcorn-chomping summer blockbuster. It's not a documentary, and it's not Drive To Survive (which you can watch with a Netflix subscription). Expecting it to be is, frankly, silly. It will make you a fan of F1, though. At least, I hope it will, because it's a fantastic sport. If the lack of realism does upset you, I think you need to relax and think like Sonny in the last lap, let the car do the flying, and just float into the zone.

Meghan Markle rocks leg-lengthening mini shorts in stunning beach photo

The Duchess of Sussex solidified her style credentials at the weekend as she shared a stunning snapshot of herself running along the beach. The joyful image, which was shared to Instagram on Saturday, showed the former Suits actress looking ultra-chic in a monochromatic linen get-up comprising a pair of leg-lengthening mini shorts in white, an oversized, cream linen shirt and a pair of tan leather sandals. Meghan, 43, spruced up her beachy look with a wide-brim straw hat, dark sunglasses and a cluster of golden bangles. She had her raven locks swept away from her face, and appeared in her element as she strode away from the shoreline with a huge smile on her face. "That weekend feeling," she penned in her caption alongside the sun and musical note emojis. Over on her official As Ever Instagram page, meanwhile, the mother-of-two shared a glimpse inside her wholesome weekend plans. In a nod to her passion for foraging, the Duchess uploaded a picture of herself picking ripe fruit from a tree in her garden. Embracing the sunshine, Meghan could be seen wearing a simple white blouse and a straw hat embossed with the letter 'M'. In her caption, she wrote: "Weekend plans: pick, snack, repeat." Meghan launched her lifestyle brand earlier this year following the release of her Netflix show titled With Love, Meghan. As part of her brand's soft launch, the Duchess reportedly sent 50 jars of jam to the likes of fashion designer Tracy Robbins and polo player Nacho Figueras' wife Delfina Blaquier. A tagline on her brand's website reads: "What began with a small pot of fresh fruit preserves, bubbling away in my home kitchen, has inspired this curated collection to bring surprise and delight to your every day." Following the success of her initial product launches, Meghan has recently added an array of new items, including an apricot spread, honey and a rosé wine which is set for release on 1 July. "With soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality and a lasting finish, this bespoke blend is launching just in time for summer entertaining," a description for the rosé reads. In her recent podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, Meghan hinted that As Ever's direction would defy traditional marketing tactics often seen in luxury circles, including the now-commonplace "scarcity drop" approach. "I want to move away from that scarcity mentality," she explained. "I don't want you to eat that jam once every six months. I want that to be on your shelf all the time."
