Luis Suarez Leads Inter Miami To 3-1 Win Over Pumas In Leagues Cup

NDTV5 days ago
Luis Suarez scored and had two assists as Inter Miami beat Pumas 3-1 on Thursday morning to advance in the Leagues Cup. Miami played the match without Lionel Messi, who is sidelined indefinitely with what the team described as a minor muscle injury in his right leg. Messi was hurt in the opening minutes of Inter Miami's win over Necaxa on Saturday. He was in attendance for Wednesday's match and watched from a suite at Chase Stadium. Miami, which has eight points in the Major League Soccer Leagues Cup standings, is the first MLS club through to the tournament's knockout stages.
Rodrigo De Paul scored his first Inter Miami goal from an assist from Suarez in the 45th, tying the match after Pumas' Jorge Ruvalcaba opened scoring in the 34th.
De Paul, the star Argentine midfielder who came to MLS to play with his national team friend Messi, made his club debut in Inter Miami's League's Cup opener against Atlas last Wednesday and had two assists against Necaxa.
Suarez put Inter Miami ahead 2-1 when he converted a penalty kick in the 59th after a handball was called on Pumas defender José Caicedo in the penalty area.
It was Suarez first goal since he scored in Inter Miami's Club World Cup match against Palmeiras on June 23.
Tadeo Allende finished Suarez's second assist of the night in the 69th.

Lionel Messi's former club Barcelona to play historic first La Liga game in Miami? Details here

Spanish football could finally cross the Atlantic after the Royal Spanish Football Federation approved a request for Barcelona and Villarreal to play their December La Liga match in Miami – a move nearly a decade in the making. The RFEF board gave the green light on Monday for the teams' matchday 17 game to be played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on December 20 in the first step towards the competition playing an official match abroad for the first time in its history. Argentine soccer superstar and 2022 FIFA World Cup winner Lionel Messi played for Barcelona senior team from 2004 to 2021. Messi is currently leading Major League Soccer (MLS) team Inter Miami . The proposal now heads to European soccer's governing body UEFA before requiring final approval from FIFA – the last hurdle in La Liga President Javier Tebas' American dream. Tyreek Hill trade talk heats up with several teams ready to make a move

Tyreek Hill's future with the Miami Dolphins is uncertain as injuries and offensive struggles fuel trade speculation (Getty Images) It's August, which means NFL training camps are in full swing and so are the rumor mills. This week's headline-grabber? Tyreek Hill. Yes, that Tyreek Hill, the Miami Dolphins' game-breaking wideout who can turn a slant into a touchdown before you even finish your nachos. According to a fresh report, several NFL teams have their eyes locked on him, just waiting for the slightest opening to make a trade move. Miami says he's not going anywhere but if you've followed the league long enough, you know 'never' can turn into 'next week' real quick. Why Tyreek Hill is back in the trade rumor spotlight The chatter started when ESPN's Jeremy Fowler went on SportsCenter and revealed that multiple teams are 'monitoring' Hill's situation in Miami. The Dolphins' front office insists they have no intention of moving their star receiver, but the interest across the league is very real. Why the buzz now? Hill's absence from practice with an oblique injury has stirred speculation. Add that to his brief 'I'm out' declaration at the end of last season even though he later apologized and suddenly the NFL gossip cycle is at full throttle. Other franchises are lurking in the background, ready to strike if Miami's resolve wavers. The factors fueling speculation about Hill's future This isn't just about an injury or one fiery post-game comment. There are layers to why teams smell opportunity. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Remember Him Wait Till You See Him Now Daily Sport X Undo Health concerns: An oblique injury might not sound career-threatening, but for a player who relies on pure speed, even a minor setback can make teams nervous. Locker room dynamics: Rumors of tension between Hill, the coaching staff, and QB Tua Tagovailoa haven't gone away completely. Money talks: Hill carries a massive $30 million cap hit in 2026, forcing the Dolphins to think about long-term roster strategy. Past turbulence: His sudden 'I'm out' line last season even though walked back showed just how quickly the relationship could swing. Put it all together, and you've got enough smoke for teams to believe there could be fire. What a potential trade could mean for the Dolphins and the NFL If Miami ever put Hill on the market, the ripple effects would be wild. Losing him would strip the Dolphins' offense of its biggest weapon, the kind that makes defensive coordinators lose sleep. But in return, Miami could command a king's ransom in draft picks and young talent especially from teams on the brink of Super Bowl contention. Possible suitors? Squads with cap space, playoff dreams, and a need for instant offense. Think teams like the Ravens, Chiefs (hello, reunion rumors), or even the 49ers franchises that could justify paying big for a proven game-changer. For now, Tyreek Hill is still wearing aqua and orange, and Miami's official stance is firm, 'no trade' but with multiple teams quietly watching and plenty of underlying tension points, this story has 'stay tuned' written all over it. Premier League: Jack Grealish heads to Everton on loan from Manchester City

Jack Grealish is set to begin a new chapter in his career after a frustrating 2024–25 season at Manchester City, which saw the England international struggle for regular minutes under Pep Guardiola. The 29-year-old playmaker was notably excluded from the squad for the Club World Cup, a clear signal that his standing at the Etihad had diminished. Last season, Grealish made just seven Premier League starts and found the net only once in top-flight action. Once a central figure in Guardiola's attacking plans, the former Aston Villa captain has increasingly found himself on the fringes. With his form dipping and competition for places intensifying, both the player and club agreed it was time for a fresh start. Grealish looking to rediscover lost form In a move that keeps him in the north-west, Grealish is heading to Merseyside, where he will join Everton on a season-long loan deal. Under the guidance of David Moyes, who took over managerial duties at Goodison Park earlier this year, Grealish will be looking to rediscover the form that once made him one of England's most exciting talents. ???????? EXCL: Jack Grealish to Everton, here we go! Loan deal agreed with Man City and medical booked later today. Grealish said yes to #EFC project and he's now set to complete his move in next 24 hours. New addition for David Moyes. ???????? — Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) August 11, 2025 Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news, stating: 'Jack Grealish to Everton, here we go! Loan deal agreed with Man City and medical booked later today. Grealish said yes to the Everton project and is now set to complete his move in the next 24 hours.' For Everton, the acquisition of Grealish represents a major coup. With the club aiming to stabilise and climb the Premier League table, Grealish's experience and creativity could prove invaluable. The move also comes at a crucial time for Grealish personally. With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, he will be eager to impress new England manager Thomas Tuchel and regain a place in the national squad. Grealish has earned 39 caps for the Three Lions, and a strong season at Everton could see him add many more. Now facing a pivotal point in his career, Grealish has the chance to reignite his spark in royal blue and remind everyone of his undeniable quality.
