Donald Trump speaks to Netanyahu: Tel Aviv says 'refrained' from further strikes; 'won't violate ceasefire if Israel won't,' says Iran
Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu (ANI) Isreali prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office stated on Tuesday that the country has 'refrained' from further strikes on Iran, after a phone call with US president Donald Trump. This comes after 12 days of ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel. 'Following President Trump's conversation with Prime Minister Netanyahu, Israel refrained from further strikes', the statement said. Earlier on Tuesday, Israel had accused Iran of violating the ceasefire brokered by US president Donald Trump, with the Israeli defence minister, Israel Katz, vowing to 'respond forcefully' without delay. In retaliation for the attack, Israel had 'destroyed a radar installation near Tehran', the statement said, as reported by AFP. Iranian authorities had denied responsibility for firing missiles aimed at Israel. 'Israel. Do not drop those bombs. If you do it is a major violation', Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social account following the attacks. Trump had said, 'I did not like that Israel 'unloaded ' immediately after agreeing to ceasefire', and added, 'I am not happy with Iran either'. Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian, said on Tuesday that, 'If the Zionist regime does not violate the ceasefire, Iran will not violate it either', during a phone call with Malaysian prime minister Anwar Ibrahim. Just before the ceasefire had started, Israel had fired around 100 munitions targeting several sites in Tehran, as reported by AP. Earlier on Monday, Trump had announced a 'complete and total ceasefire' between Iran and Israel, phased over for 24 hours after which 'the war will be considered, ENDED!', as posted by him on his Truth Social platform. Data suggests that 28 people have been killed, with 1,347 affected in Israel. According to Iranian State TV, a high-profile nuclear scientist named Mohammad Reza Sedighi Saber had been killed in an Israeli strike early on Tuesday.

Mamata Banerjee Claims Bengal Migrants Being Deported, Slams BJP: ‘They're Not Bangladeshis'
Last Updated: Mamata Banerjee slammed the BJP over the alleged deportation of Bengali migrant workers from BJP-ruled states to Bangladesh. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday alleged that the Bengali people from the state were being branded as Bangladeshis in some BJP-ruled states and were pushed to the neighbouring country. She claimed that migrant workers from Bengal are taken to other states due to their skills and then sent to Bangladesh for speaking the Bengali language. 'People from every section live in our country. This is India's secular tradition… but the BJP is doing politics based on language… The migrant workers from Bengal are taken to other states for work because of their skills, but when they speak in the Bengali language among themselves, they are labelled as Bangladeshis and sent to Bangladesh," she claimed while speaking to reporters in her Assembly chamber. #WATCH | Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee says, 'People from every section live in our country. This is India's secular tradition… but the BJP is doing politics based on language… The migrant workers from Bengal are taken to other states for work because of their… — ANI (@ANI) June 24, 2025 The Chief Minister claimed that several such cases were reported to her government, which brought the deportees back from Bangladesh. 'Many such cases have come to us, and we have brought them back (from Bangladesh). Another such case has come from Rajasthan, where 300 to 400 people have been labelled as Bangladeshis. What is happening? They are not Bangladeshis, they have their own identity, they are residents of West Bengal, and West Bengal is a state of India," she said. She also claimed that besides Rajasthan, such incidents were also reported in BJP-ruled Delhi and Madhya Pradesh in the past. 'Only for speaking Bengali, people are pushed to Bangladesh. Tamil is spoken by people in Tamil Nadu. So, will someone be sent to Sri Lanka because they speak Tamil? Nepali is the language spoken by the Gorkhas, the people of Darjeeling. Will they be sent to Nepal?" Mamata said. She said that 1.5 crore migrant workers from different states are working in different units in West Bengal. 'But we can never imagine taking such steps which go against the spirit of pluralism of India. What if such steps are taken against migrants from other states here for speaking their mother tongue? Is speaking Bengali considered sacrilegious by BJP-ruled regimes?" she asked. First Published: June 24, 2025, 20:30 IST

Murali calls Tharoor's Modi praise ‘quite disgusting' in first open attack from Kerala
In the first open criticism from a senior Congress leader in his home State of Kerala, K. Muraleedharan on Tuesday targeted Shashi Tharoor over his recent praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling the remarks 'quite disgusting.' Addressing reporters, Mr. Muraleedharan said it was troubling that a member of the party's working committee would continue to praise a political rival, especially during election season. 'He is a member of the working committee. It is quite disgusting that a member of the working committee continues to praise the political opponent of the Congress,' he said. Mr. Muraleedharan's comments came a day after Mr. Tharoor, in a newspaper article, described Mr. Modi's 'energy, dynamism, and willingness to engage' as a 'prime asset' for India on the global stage, adding that the Prime Minister deserved greater support. Mr. Tharoor's praise for Mr. Modi came at a time when the Congress has consistently been attacking the BJP-led Centre over its foreign policy, alleging that Indian diplomacy is being 'shattered' and the country stands 'isolated' globally. Asked whether disciplinary action was needed against Mr. Tharoor, he replied, 'Whether action should be taken or not—let the high command decide and inform us.' Speaking in Thiruvananthapuram last week, Mr. Tharoor said he had differences of opinion with some in the party leadership but refused to speak about those in light of the Nilambur Assembly byelections. The veteran leader said the Congress, its values, and its workers are very dear to him.
