Cristiano Ronaldo raises eyebrows for jokingly calling lookalike fan ‘ugly'
The 40-year-old professional soccer star approached a fan while on the field Friday, before his team Al-Nassr FC's match against Al Shabab FC. His club is also a part of the Saudi Pro League, which often plays in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
In the now viral clip on X, captured by someone in the stands, a fan who looked like Ronaldo was smiling and wearing a Portugal shirt — representing the national team that the athlete's been playing for since 2003. The guest also had gel in his hair, which it was parted to the side, just like the soccer star.
However, as Ronaldo made his way toward the fan, he mocked him for his appearance.
'Bro, you don't look like me,' he said, before the fan still responded: 'You are the best!'
Ronaldo continued his bit, saying: 'You are very ugly!' with a smile on his face. He then ran back toward the middle of the field.
The fan continued to take the situation in his stride, as he smiled and held his thumbs up. He once again told Ronaldo: 'You are the best bro!' The athlete then made his way back over and gave a thumbs up to the fan.
On X, some fans have criticized Ronaldo for making that joke about his lookalike.
'That was actually very rude of him,' one tweeted, while another claimed: 'If any of y'all's fav artists did this, they would get canceled.'
'Now how do we defend this,' a third tweeted.
However, other fans didn't hesitate to defend Ronaldo, as they said it was clear to them that he was joking.
'You can literally see his smile before turning away, idk why people take this s*** seriously,' one wrote on X.
Another wrote about the bit: 'That was actually funny.'
So far, the Portugal superstar has given no indication that he'll be retiring anytime soon, as he continues to represent his country as well as playing for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. However, in February, he did share a career move he eventually wants to make, and it is not coaching or managing.
'It doesn't make a lot of sense to be director of a club. If I can be a club owner, why would I be a manager, sporting director or CEO?' he told Portuguese television station Canal 11. 'That is a dream of mine and I am sure I'll be a club owner. And I'll tell you more. I hope to have not just one club, but several clubs.'
Ronaldo is also a father, as he and his longtime partner, Georgina Rodriguez, share an eight-year-old daughter, Alana. When they revealed in 2022 that their second daughter, Bella, two, had been born, they also shared that the then-newborn's twin brother, Angel, had died.
'It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel,' they wrote on Instagram at the time. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.'
Ronaldo also has three other children – 14-year-old Cristiano Jr and seven-year-old twins Eva Maria and Mateo – from previous relationships.

A pulsating encounter at Tannadice Park finished 3-2 to Hearts thanks to Stuart Findlay's dramatic stoppage-time header. The defender nodded two of his team's three goals as they remained joint-top of the Premiership with Celtic after two matches. However, while Monday's 2-0 victory over Aberdeen was comfortable, Hearts were made to work until the dying seconds for three points on Tayside. They led 1-0 through Lawrence Shankland's penalty before conceding two first-half goals to United's Croatian winger Ivan Dolcek. Goalkeeper Zander Clark was culpable on both occasions, most notably the second, but centre-back Findlay bailed him out. After scoring a fine header to secure the draw, Findlay then followed up with a winner to underline the fact he is fast becoming a goal machine for the Edinburgh club with four goals in five games. Hearts forced United back throughout the first half and would have felt aggrieved being 2-1 down at the break. They responded positively with Findlay's equaliser and refused to accept a draw, believing they could force a winner. United were always a threat due to an imposing forward line of Zach Sapsford and Owen Stirton, who ruffled opponents on a few occasions during the afternoon. Dolcek was one of their best players on the day at left wing-back. This fixture was moved to Sunday following United's progress to the UEFA Conference League third qualifying round. The first leg of that tie took place in Vienna on Thursday as the Tayside club earned a creditable 2-2 draw. Hearts visited Tannadice ahead of the second leg looking to build on their solid opening Premiership win against Aberdeen. They arrived without injured Norwegian right-back Christian Borchgrevink, while the hosts were missing captain Ross Graham, plus new arrivals Isaac Pappoe and Dario Naamo. With 2,802 travelling fans added to a healthy home support in a 10,874 crowd, there was no lack of energy or noise inside Tannadice. The Hearts followers acclaimed Portuguese forward Caudio Braga during the early stages with their adapted version of Queen's 1984 hit 'Radio Ga Ga'. He would soon have a couple of attempts at goal. The first shot of note, though, arrived on 10 minutes when United's Vicko Sevelj dispatched a bouncing effort from 22 yards. The Hearts goalkeeper Zander Clark produced a good save low to his right. The visitors continued applying pressure and the sight of left wing-back Harry Milne executing a cheeky 'rabona' nutmeg on Miller Thomson brought further joy for those in the away end. Their team moved ahead minutes later. Iurie Iovu held Stuart Findlay back as Milne's corner dropped at United's back post, and referee David Dickinson pointed to the spot. Hearts had controlled much of the first half, attacking relentlessly down their left through Milne, Braga and Blair Spittal. United's doggedness and opportunism paid off as they led 2-1 into the second half. They tended to attack down the Hearts right in behind Forrest - the area where Dolcek sprinted into to score their second goal. Visiting head coach Derek McInnes replaced Forrest and Kent with Alexandros Kyziridis and Michael Steinwender during the break - switching from a 3-5-2 to a 4-4-2 formation - and saw his team draw level just before the hour mark. Milne's outswinging corner was met by Findlay's towering header, which soared high into the corner of Kucherenko's net. The defender's impact has been impressive since moving on loan to Tynecastle from Oxford United. His leveller created the potential for a dramatic ending in the Tayside sunshine, although Hearts seemed determined to make life more difficult for themselves with some erratic defending and poor distribution in their own third of the field during the second period. Teenage striker James Wilson replaced Braga late in the game as Hearts pursued a winner. In stoppage-time, substitute Sabah Kerjota's deflected effort forced Kucherenko into an important save low to his left. The Albanian delivered the resultant corner for Findlay to head goalwards, but Craig Sibbald cleared off his own goal line. Just as a draw seemed inevitable, Findlay intervened again in the 94th minute. Kyziridis whipped a corner towards the near post and the defender stooped for a diving, glancing header on the corner of the six-yard post. The ball flew through a collection of bodies to land in the net and maintain Hearts' 100 per cent record at the start of the new season. They now have six competitive wins from six matches under McInnes' management. The bedlam which erupted in the away end illustrated their supporters' delight. Arsenal transfer news: Eberechi Eze deal moves a step closer after Andrea Berta decision
Arsenal are still looking to bring in new players to bolster Mikel Arteta's squad, with Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze a key target for sporting director Andrea Berta Arsenal have spent £200million in the summer transfer window to bring in six new players, but still have more business to do before it closes at the end of September. The Gunners have completed deals for Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres, with new sporting director Andrea Berta extremely busy. And speaking after the 3-0 friendly win over Athletic Bilbao on Saturday, Mikel Arteta confirmed that there could be more to come. 'Let's see,' Arteta said. 'Let's see what happens, in terms of where the squad is in the next few weeks. 'But, we are actively looking at options. As well, there are a few players, maybe, that they have to leave as well. So, we will be open to see what happens.' Here Mirror Football looks at what those deals could be in the coming weeks. Berta's priorities clear Arsenal have been busy this summer, but they haven't managed to sell their fringe players as well as their rivals. The Gunners have only generated around £8.57m through player sales after selling left-back Nuno Tavares to Lazio and Marquinhos to Cruzeiro - and Berta needs to address that. Mirror Football understands that attention has now turned to offloading unwanted stars. Reiss Nelson tops that list because, as a home-grown player, his sale would be helpful for profit and sustainability rules. Fulham have been in talks over the winger, who spent last season on loan there. Then there's Fabio Vieira, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Karl Hein and, potentially, Oleksandr Zinchenko. Arsenal know they need to balance the books, especially if they are to sign top target Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. Eze plan progressing There are encouraging signs over a move for Eze, with other puzzle pieces falling into place. Mirror Football understands that Stuttgart are continuing discussions over a transfer for the former Porto midfielder, with Arsenal seeking a package worth up to £17.35m (€20m). Crucially, Stuttgart can get a deal done after selling Enzo Millot to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli. It's understood that the Frenchman has fetched £25.9m (€30m), meaning the funds are there for Vieira, whose departure is needed to make room for Eze. Palace don't want to sell their star player, but Arsenal believe he is keen on a £60m move, which could still materialise in the latter stages of the transfer window. Ademola Lookman has emerged as an alternative if a deal can't be done. Other possible departures Arteta currently has a bloated squad at Arsenal and departures are definitely needed. Contract negotiations with Leandro Trossard have stalled and bids would be entertained for the Belgian utility player, although Arteta would be happy to keep him as a squad player. Gabriel Jesus has received interest from Brazil, but is very unlikely to leave, given the fact he is recovering from a knee injury. Interest around Zinchenko has died down following enquiries from AC Milan and there is frustration around Sambi Lokonga, who remains contracted to Arsenal after loan spells with Luton and Sevilla. Back-up goalkeeper Hein has interest from Levante and Rangers, with Arsenal seeking a permanent sale, given he is in the final year of his contract. United did not manage to put in a remarkable display but it signalled a landmark en route to the season beginning. But there is work still to be done. Rasmus Hojlund was in the squad for the game but did not feature amid speculation around his future, while the Red Devils will still hope to find clubs for Tyrell Malacia, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho. The Dane previously stated his intention to fight for his place and rejected the notion of a move to RB Leipzig but United have remained open to his departure. The striker is now more receptive to the idea of leaving Old Trafford after AC Milan came to the table, reports TalkSport. The Italians giants are in talks with United over a loan with opotion to buy with the Red Devils set for a significant loss after spending more than £70m two years ago. New Sancho answer Jadon Sancho is said to be on Atletico Madrid's shortlist of targets for the final weeks of the transfer window. According to Fichajes, Diego Simeone wants to add to his squad out wide and the Manchester United flop is among those of interest. Sancho had appeared set to join Juventus but that move has seen little progress, while Borussia Dortmund have returned as a possible contender for his signature. The England international could yet find himself with options to consider with Simeone claimed to see Sancho 'as a potential game-changer on the flanks' with his direct style suiting a counter-attacking philosophy. United speak to agents Manchester United were in contact with agents of Brighton star Carlos Baleba over the weekend, per reports.
