India's DLF says will consider partnerships as embarks on Mumbai luxury development

MUMBAI (Reuters) -India's largest property developer DLF expects to review offers from potential partners, as it works on a project to build luxury flats in a slum area of Mumbai that marks its return to the city, it said on Thursday.
DLF left Mumbai more than a decade ago, when it sold off land to reduce debt and turned its focus to New Delhi and regions around the capital.
It had since become one of India's largest luxury property developers, building premium and super-luxury projects.
A major issue in Mumbai is a shortage of land, which the developers say means the only option is to redevelop slum areas and old apartment buildings, where they provide existing tenants with improved property in exchange for land they develop.
"I can't say, give me clear, clean land, then I will operate," Aakash Ohri, joint managing director at DLF, told Reuters.
In 2023, DLF decided to return to Mumbai by partnering with Trident Realty Group. On Thursday, it announced it was building a mid-range premium residential project, named "Westpark," based on providing improved accommodation for the existing tenants.
They will get flats of around 300-350 square feet, with modern bathrooms and facilities, while the luxury apartments are three-bedroom and four-bedroom apartments of (1,100-1,500 sq. ft.), priced between $464,593 and $929,186.
DLF is aiming to build the first four 37-storey towers, with more than 65 lifestyle amenities by 2029 and expects a turnover of $267 million from the project's first phase.
Ohri said DLF has received nearly 20 proposals, mainly redevelopments from companies interested in working with it.
Vishal Damani, CEO of DLF's metro cities projects, said the proposals would be assessed and that the company preferred to partner with local developers to manage tasks such as tenant rehabilitation, while it focuses on development.

Jaguar CEO Adrian Mardell steps down after ‘woke' rebrand sparked massive social media firestorm

The Jaguar CEO is stepping down months after leading a controversial 'woke' rebrand campaign for the auto company. Jaguar Land Rover CEO Adrian Mardell is set to retire after three decades at the luxury car company and serving as CEO for three years, a spokesperson for the automaker announced on Thursday, Reuters reported. Advertisement The British car brand turned heads last year with its release of a new ad, which featured a reimagined logo under the slogan 'Copy Nothing.' The ad featured androgynous models in brightly colored, over-the-top outfits, including one man wearing a dress, along with other slogans such as 'create exuberant,' 'live vivid,' 'delete ordinary' and 'break moulds.' The ad did not feature a car throughout its entire 30-second run. The video blew up on social media, drawing tens of thousands of comments and nearly 47 million views in 24 hours. 'This just made me want to sell my Jaguar and I don't even own a Jaguar,' conservative corporate activist Robby Starbuck joked. 'Our brand relaunch for Jaguar is a bold and imaginative reinvention and, as expected, it has attracted attention and debate. As proud custodians at such a remarkable point in Jaguar's history, we have preserved iconic symbols while taking a dramatic leap forward. The brand reveal is only the first step in this exciting new era, and we look forward to sharing more on Jaguar's transformation in the coming days and weeks,' it said. Clean crude oil arriving at BTC Ceyhan, BP says

By Robert Harvey LONDON (Reuters) -Crude oil arriving at the BTC Ceyhan terminal in Turkey is returning to normal specifications following organic chloride contamination, BP said on Thursday, though some tanks still hold tainted oil. Organic chloride was detected in Azeri BTC crude cargoes last week, pushing price differentials to a four-year low and delaying loadings. Loadings resumed after a pause from July 20-24, with shipments now proceeding from tanks cleared of contamination, subject to testing and charterer approval, sources told Reuters. Azeri BTC loadings from Ceyhan totalled 423,000 barrels per day (bpd) in July, according to data from analytics firm Kpler, below the 561,000 bpd scheduled on the month's loading programme. On Thursday, the Suezmax tanker Nissos Antimilos was loading a 1-million-barrel cargo for Azerbaijan's state-owned Socar, a port agent's report showed. The extent of the contamination and its impact on customers remain unclear. Austria's OMV and Italy's Eni have confirmed receiving tainted cargoes. BP said it was working with Socar to manage the off-specification oil at Ceyhan but did not provide further details. A wide-scale contamination of organic chlorides in Russian Urals crude oil caused disruptions to exports in 2019. Organic chlorides are used in the oil industry to boost extraction from oilfields but must be removed before oil enters pipelines as they can damage refinery equipment. At least 5 million tonnes of the Russian crude were contaminated en route to Europe in 2019, along the Druzhba pipeline system and also affecting some seaborne exports from Ust-Luga. Russia had to use rail, storage tanks and ships to remove contaminated oil from Druzhba, while several seaborne tankers carrying contaminated Urals were still floating without homes months later as traders struggled to offload supplies. Russian pipeline operator Transneft paid out around 13.8 billion roubles ($171.92 million) in compensation payments linked to the contamination. ($1 = 80.2705 roubles)

Mistral in talks with VC firms, MGX to raise funds at $10 billion valuation, FT reports

(Reuters) -French artificial intelligence startup Mistral is in talks with investors, venture capital firms and Abu Dhabi's MGX to raise $1 billion at a valuation of $10 billion, the Financial Times reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. The company launched in June Europe's first AI reasoning model, which uses logical thinking to create a response, as it tries to keep pace with American and Chinese rivals at the forefront of AI development. The funding would accelerate the commercial rollout of Mistral's Le Chat chatbot and support continued development of its large language models, the report said. MGX and Mistral did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment. The startup raised 600 million euros in a Series B funding round that valued the company at 5.8 billion euros last year. Industry observers consider Mistral as Europe's best-positioned AI company to rival Silicon Valley leaders, though the French firm has yet to achieve comparable market traction or revenue scale. Mistral counts Nvidia, Andreessen Horowitz and Lightspeed Venture Partners among its investors. Sign in to access your portfolio
