Adiba Anam secure AIR 142 in UPSC Exam 2024 and became the first Muslim woman from Maharashtra to crack the civil services exam.
With her fourth attempt, Adiba Anam, the daughter of an autorickshaw driver from Maharashtra's Yavatmal district, has created history—becoming the first Muslim woman from the state to clear the UPSC Civil Services Exam. Ranked 142nd in the All India list for 2024, her journey from a modest background to the country's top bureaucracy is a powerful reminder that determination can break any barrier.
Adiba's roots lie in a family that struggled financially but never compromised on the value of education. Her father, Ashfaq Ahmed, couldn't pursue studies and turned to driving an autorickshaw to support the family. Still, the belief in education ran deep in their household.
Adiba began her academic journey at Zafarnagar Zilla Parishad Urdu Primary School and completed her schooling through local government institutions in Yavatmal. Later, she pursued a BSc in Mathematics from Inamdar Senior College in Pune, where she also began her civil services preparation.
Success After Setbacks
Adiba's UPSC journey wasn't without setbacks. She faced three initial failures, reaching the interview round once but falling short of the final selection. Yet, she didn't lose heart. With a focused mindset, she prepared harder for her fourth attempt—and this time, it paid off.
Her success was also shaped by guidance from Haj House IAS Training Institute and Jamia Residential Coaching Academy, where she honed her preparation and strategy.
As congratulations poured in, former Maharashtra Minister Manikrao Thakre, also from Yavatmal, praised her on social media, calling her selection a proud moment for the district and the state.
Adiba's story is one of grit, persistence, and belief—proof that no dream is too distant when backed by relentless effort and the right support.

'TMC Extends Full Support To...': BJP's Suvendu Adhikari After Privilege Motion In Assembly

Last Updated: Adhikari's heated remarks came after TMC moved a motion for breach of privilege in the Assembly against Adhikari for his alleged derogatory remarks against CM Mamata Banerjee. Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing it of supporting terrorism and fostering extremism in the state. Adhikari's heated remarks came after TMC moved a motion for breach of privilege in the Assembly against Adhikari for his alleged derogatory remarks against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. 'The TMC party extends full support to terrorism and extremists… People of Mamata Banerjee's party are turning Bengal into a valley of extremists and are protecting them," Adhikari alleged. On Tuesday afternoon, ministers Chandrima Bhattacharya, Shobhandev Chatterjee, Arup Biswas, and Indranil Sen submitted a notice for Privilege Motion against Adhikari to Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee on behalf of the state's ruling party. The ruling party alleged that on Tuesday, Suvendu Adhikari accused the Chief Minister of 'speaking in favour of Pakistan" outside the Assembly chamber. Earlier in the day, the West Bengal Assembly also passed a resolution expressing appreciation for the Indian armed forces for their recent operations targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The resolution also condemned the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people—most of them tourists—lost their lives. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed sorrow over the tragic incident and paid tribute to the victims. 'We do not support terrorism in any way. In Pahalgam, tourists lost their lives. We condemn this incident. Three victims were from Bengal. During the incident, one Muslim man (Adil Hussain Shah) opposed them and sacrificed his life. We salute and pay tribute to him also," Banerjee said. She also noted that West Bengal was the only state to bring forward such a resolution in its Assembly. Just days earlier, on Sunday, Adhikari had also accused the Chief Minister of shielding extremist groups and anti-national elements, claiming she was providing protection to Jamaat Hefazat and other radical forces. Raja Singh hints at tussle within BJP over Jubilee Hills bypoll candidate

Hyderabad: Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh has stirred the pot again with remarks hinting at internal conflicts within the BJP over party candidate for bypoll for Jubilee Hills seat. The seat has fallen vacant following the death of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath on Sunday. Raja Singh said that the BJP might choose its candidate for the Jubilee Hills by-election based on caste dynamics, while wondering if the party would ignore caste and instead prefer to pick a senior leader. Claiming that MIM had sold Muslim votes to the BRS during the last election, he sought to know if this time the party would sell them to Congress or the pink party.

‘Name like that of a don evokes fear': Aligarh MP writes to Centre to rename 131yo Daud Khan rly station

Agra: Aligarh's BJP MP Satish Gautam has urged Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to rename the Daud Khan railway station in his constituency to 'Maharana Pratap Station', saying the existing name resembles that of fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and "evokes fear among locals". In a letter sent to Vaishnaw on Monday, a copy of which has been accessed by TOI, Gautam wrote: "There is no village named Daud Khan in the area, nor is there any historical relevance of this name. The regional public demands that the name of the railway station be changed to that of the great ruler Maharana Pratap Singh, who made many historical contributions to the country. Therefore, you are humbly requested to change the name of the above railway station as soon as possible. " He said the station, built in 1894 according to locals, has "no historical relevance" and added that there is no nearby Muslim village that justifies the name. On Tuesday, Gautam said he was confident the minister would approve his request, citing Vaishnaw's "positive mindset" and "track record of new initiatives". Explaining his demand, the MP told reporters, "The name 'Daud' is associated with a terrorist who took many innocent lives, including those of several sisters and daughters. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo He spread fear across Maharashtra and is an enemy of the nation. People hesitate to even say his name. " Locals, however, opposed the proposal, saying the focus should shift from "name politics" to public welfare. "The MP's proposal to rename Daud Khan station reflects a pattern. Since BJP came to power, it has focused on renaming places. I don't think these changes bring any real benefit, they only stir public sentiment. BJP should move beyond name politics and focus on real development and public welfare," said Mohammad Kamran, a local.
