Yahoo24-04-2025

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Textron Aviation officially opened its $40 million Career & Learning Center in Wichita on Wednesday, aimed at enhancing workforce development in the aviation industry. The center consolidates hiring, training, and educational outreach to support talent development.
The 75,000-square-foot facility features four zones, each designed for a specific stage of employment, ranging from job applications and onboarding to technical training and student engagement. The aviation company says that the center demonstrates a commitment to attracting and developing skilled professionals in aviation manufacturing and support roles.
'This facility is an important investment in building the next generation of aviation talent,' Ron Draper, Textron Aviation president and CEO, said. 'Recruiting, hiring, and training a world-class workforce is vital to our ability to provide the best aviation experience for our customers.'
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly praised the facility as a model for workforce partnerships.
'This new career and learning center is way more than just a building—it's a partnership,' she said during Wednesday's ribbon-cutting event. 'Textron is training and hiring the next generation of Kansas workers.'
Wichita's coming Broadway season brings unique tour debuts
The project received $3.3 million from the ALOFT grant program to support apprenticeships, manufacturing training, and K-12 aviation education, featuring spaces for flight simulators and STEM activities.
U.S. Senator Jerry Moran also spoke at the event, highlighting the federal commitment to promoting aviation as a national strategic asset.
'I hope that everyone who has a dream to do something with their lives finds this facility available to them,' Moran said. 'We want the bright future we envision for Kansas to be built here.'
Rep. Ron Estes added that the new center reinforces Wichita's reputation as the 'Air Capital of the World.'
'Textron continues to lead in education and workforce preparation. This facility will not only help train aviation workers—it will strengthen our national economy and defense,' he said.

2025 Tony Awards Predictions: Which Shows and Performers Will Win?

The Broadway season that just ended was the most robust since the pandemic, with record-setting grosses, a plethora of profitable plays and celebrities galore. Serious challenges remain — vanishingly few new musicals are making money — but there is a rich subject and stylistic diversity of offerings. Now, industry insiders face a lot of tough choices as they determine which shows to honor at Sunday night's Tony Awards ceremony, which airs at 8 p.m. Eastern on CBS. Over the last few days, I asked Tony voters which productions, and which performers in leading roles, they deemed the best. After consulting with more than one quarter of the 840 voters, these are my predictions. Expect wins for 'Maybe Happy Ending' … Tell people the plot summary for 'Maybe Happy Ending,' and they immediately think they don't want to see it: It's about two lonely robots in Seoul who go on a road trip and find, well, each other. But over the last seven months, the show has steadily won over fans thanks to strong reviews and excellent word-of-mouth; it has clearly won over Tony voters too. The show has what I believe to be an overwhelming lead over its closest competitors, 'Buena Vista Social Club' and 'Death Becomes Her,' both of which are based on existing material. That's one part of what's working for 'Maybe Happy Ending': Voters over and over say they appreciate that, in an era in which Broadway is dominated by big-brand titles adapted from movies, books or popular song catalogs, this musical has both an original story and an original score. There are, of course, detractors, who find the four-performer show twee, but there are significantly more admirers, many of whom praise the way all the elements of Michael Arden's production cohere — the performances, the direction, the story and the lavish set, with state-of-the-art automation and technology. 'It's delicate and intimate and engaging,' one voter told me, 'and the scenic design came together to support the story in a very unified way.' Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

Nick Jonas Cast As Paul Stanley In KISS Biopic

Nick Jonas will aim to make moviegoers rock'n'roll all night when he stars as KISS vocalist/guitarist Paul Stanley in an authorized biopic about the face-painted rockers, Shout It Out Loud. Per Deadline, the project will be directed by McG and will go into production before the end of the year or in early 2026. The report says Jonas will do his own singing in the film but will require training to mimic the style of Stanley, whose high-register yelps and attitudinal crowd banter set a template for generation of rock vocalists to come. Jonas is currently on Broadway in the musical The Last Five Years and has also acted in the FX TV series Kingdom and such films as Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. More from Spin: Belinda Gets 'Indómita' After 48 Years, Talking Heads' 'Psycho Killer' Has A Video With Their New Single, 2ŁØT and Aloe Blacc Inspire Us to Become 'Immortal' Shout It Out Loud will zero in on KISS' 1973 formation in gritty downtown New York and their subsequent rise to global fame. Beyond Jonas as Stanley, no actors have yet been cast as fellow original members Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. KISS retired from full-production live shows in December 2023 ahead of being reborn as digital avatars, but will play an 'unmasked' electric set as part of the fan event KISS Army Storms Vegas at Virgin Hotels from Nov. 14-16. As for Jonas, he'll be quite busy on the road with his brothers as part of an extensive tour beginning Aug. 10 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Tom Felton To Play Draco Malfoy In ‘Cursed Child' On Broadway—How To Buy Tickets

While the role of Draco Malfoy has yet to be cast in HBO's upcoming Harry Potter TV series, original actor Tom Felton isn't giving up his wand just yet. After starring in all eight movies of the original blockbuster film series from 2001 to 2011, Felton is now making his Broadway debut in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. This casting marks the first time anyone from the original films has appeared in the stage production. Felton will play the adult version of Draco at the Lyric Theatre in New York City, beginning Nov. 11 for a 19-week run through March 22, 2026. 'Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honors of my life," he said in a statement. "Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in Cursed Child this fall, I'll also be the exact age Draco is in the play.' The news was first announced on Today on Thursday, June 5, where the actor revealed that his casting is 'very much a pinch-me' situation. 'I keep thinking I'm dreaming. I let go of that character 16 years ago, and now getting a chance to step back into his shoes — as a father this time, in a new story — I get to meet Draco as an adult, which is very exciting.' Over on Instagram, Felton and the official Harry Potter and the Cursed Child accounts shared a first look at Felton in his black robes and sleek blonde hairstyle, resembling his on-screen father, Lucius Malfoy (Jason Isaacs). Felton admitted he "cried" when he tried on the character's platinum wig again after so long, considering how deeply the franchise shaped his childhood. "I've been very excited to share this news, and I had to keep it under wraps for quite a while," the 37-year-old added. Want to buy tickets to see Felton as Draco in the historic role? Rowling, John Tiffany, and Thorne. The plot takes place 19 years after the events of J.K. Rowling's novel Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Harry is now an adult, married to Ginny Weasley, and serves as the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic. He has three children, including Albus, who is beginning his journey at Hogwarts. After being sorted into Slytherin, Albus struggles with the weight of his family legacy. The play debuted in London's West End in the summer of 2016. Chris Columbus, the director behind the first two Harry Potter films, told The Hollywood Reporter in 2021 that he would be open to directing an adaptation of the stage sequel featuring the original main cast – Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson – as their adult counterparts. "A version of Cursed Child with Dan, Rupert and Emma at the right age, it's cinematic bliss. If you're a film nerd or cinephile, it's kind of like what J.J. Abrams did with Star Wars... There's no question if you're a Star Wars fan, you were moved just seeing them on screen, seeing Harrison Ford as Han Solo again — and Chewy," he said. "I think that would be the same situation for Harry Potter fans. To able to actually see these adult actors now back in these roles? Oh, yeah. It would be amazingly fun to make that film — or two films," Columbus added.
