Larry Lamb retiring from acting
Larry Lamb is retiring from acting. The 77-year-old actor – who is renowned for his work as Archie Mitchell in EastEnders and Mick Shipman in Gavin and Stacey – says he may take on some smaller stage parts in the future but the Gavin and Stacey finale was his final major role. He told MailOnline: 'You get so involved with these characters that they become your favourite at that time, they are the focus of your life, but to finish up in my 70s playing a character like Mick who is beloved by millions of people, you have to give the writers credit ... at this stage in my career Mick is the closest to my heart.' Although he is best known for playing Mick and Archie, Larry had a longlasting stage career before those two career defining roles. He said: 'I have had a very fortunate career; I've done so much that I am really proud of that maybe not so many people know. 'I have worked at the Royal Shakespeare company, the National Theatre, I have been in 12 West End shows, I have done all the principal fringe theatres in London, on Broadway, I have been very lucky and now I am quite happy to let someone else play the big roles. 'For years, people didn't realise just how much time I spent working in the theatre, people assumed it was always on the TV, but it wasn't. 'My year would be half of it spent doing television and half of it would be doing plays in the theatre. 'If you have been through a life in entertainment and people don't all know you to suddenly where pretty much everybody knows you as a character... 'I find it's a reward, it's better to be known than unknown as far as I'm concerned. Particularly if you are known as a character that people really love... what a way to finish your working life.'

Here's what Vanessa Hudgens said about privacy When their first baby was born, Hudgens was frustrated by paparazzi invading their special moment. After TMZ published photos of her leaving a Santa Monica hospital in a wheelchair with her newborn, Hudgens wrote on Instagram, 'We're disappointed that our family's privacy was disrespected and exploited during this very special time due to the greed of a long lens camera feeding the media.' Despite the unwanted attention, Hudgens and Tucker have stayed positive and focused on family life. The couple tied the knot in December 2023 in a destination wedding in Mexico. Hudgens also has big plans professionally. She will star in and produce Quiet Storm, a dramatic thriller set in 1969 that explores women's liberation, the Black Power movement, and Hurricane Camille, as per Billboard. It will be Hudgens' first major film role since becoming a mom.

Horrible Histories live concert coming to Glasgow in March
To celebrate the show's 20th year, Birmingham Stage Company has teamed up with Lion Television to produce a special concert event. Horrible Histories – The Concert will be performed live at Glasgow's Theatre Royal on March 20 and 21 as part of a UK-wide tour. Read more: Coronation Street star to star in stage adaptation of iconic 90s thriller The show will mark the first time songs and characters from the BAFTA Award-winning BBC TV series will appear on stage in a unique production. Written by Ben Ward and Claire Wetton, and directed by Neal Foster, the show will be led by Richie Webb, the Horrible Histories song master, who has written all the songs from the hit TV series. The production is set to follow William Shakespeare as he attempts to create the greatest show on earth, only to be interrupted by a cast of notorious characters, including Henry VIII, Queen Victoria, and Boudica. Read more: Critically acclaimed Broadway & West End production coming to Glasgow It will feature a live band performing songs from the popular TV series including guest appearances from Charles II, Dick Turpin, and a band of Vikings. Casting details for the show are expected to be announced soon. Horrible Histories – The Concert is recommended for ages five to 105, with tickets for the Glasgow performances to go on general sale from July 11, while the ATG+ presale takes place on July 9. ‘It must be in the DNA somewhere' - Annie star credits her famous gran
Mackenzie Dunn might well be the best antidote for anyone catastrophising about our fraught world. She has dreams. She has verve, and she has the talent to bring some of theatre's sassiest roles to the stage. Cast as the dopey but spirited Lily St. Regis in a new Annie production, she shares the stage with Australian luminaries such as Anthony Warlow. At 30, she has an infectious optimism, intelligence and a clear sense of her role in Australia's music theatre scene. In fact, her cheerful nature echoes the very heart of Annie's appeal. Just as Annie brims with optimism in the grim surrounds of her 1930s orphanage, there's something about Dunn that's heartening amid our doomscrolling and global anxieties. Perched in a chilly rehearsal room with a snug yellow beanie and opinions to spare, she's a spirited advocate both for original new Australian work, and for comforting revivals. 'People still need hope. I think its good to go back to your inner child no matter what age you are, and Annie reminds us of family and of passion. We need something that's uplifting and I think Annie is the perfect show for any age.' In her iconic red dress, Annie is brave and optimistic amid depression-era misery. Based originally on the comic strip Little Orphan Annie that began in the 1920s, the tale tells of mean Miss Hannigan and her brood of neglected little girls. Annie is rescued by a would-be philanthropist, Oliver 'Daddy' Warbucks, who offers to host an orphan for a short spell in his mansion. Escaping squalor, Annie gets a taste of luxury and love. Inexplicably, American president Franklin D. Roosevelt makes an appearance – with a bit to say about the New Deal, a nod to Annie's sense of fairness – and the dastardly duo of Rooster and his gold-digging girlfriend Lily set off to dupe Warbucks, and make money out of Annie's sudden good fortune. The original Broadway musical, created by Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, opened in 1977 and blitzed that year's Tony Awards. Chernin's reflections very much bear out the need for hope and light in dark times.
