Tyson Fury's reason for not forcing his seven kids to go to school beyond age 11

Daily Mirror10 hours ago

Tyson Fury and his wife Paris once shed light on their unorthodox decision surrounding the education of their seven children, with the boxing icon now set to try his hand at Soccer Aid this weekend
Tyson Fury and his wife do not force their seven children to go to school beyond the age of 11. The legendary boxer met his wife Paris at a wedding when he was 17 and she was 15.
They began dating when she was 16 and after a 10-year courtship, they celebrated their love with a wedding in Doncaster in November 2008, which was attended by more than 300 guests. Their family grew with the birth of Venezuela Lynda in September 2009, followed by Prince John James in April 2012 and Prince Tyson II's arrival in July 2016.

Valencia Amber graced the family in December 2017, and Prince Adonis Amaziah arrived in February 2019. Tyson and Paris welcomed a third daughter, Athena, in August 2021, followed by their latest child, Prince Rico Paris, born in September 2023. With 14 years between their first child and their most recent, the Fury household has quite the age range.

However, because Tyson and Paris are part of the traveller community, they have given all of their children the option to leave school at the age of 11 after finishing primary school. Venezuela, 15, was the first to be removed from formal education, with Paris explaining that she wants her children to follow the same path she and her husband followed.
"We finish school at primary age, which is the traditional traveller way," she said. "We've just brought the tradition into the 21st century. Venezuela wanted to leave school, and all her friends were leaving. Her tutor is going to keep her up to date with all of her tests. She will also be having piano lessons."
Fury and Paris have different opinions on their children's education, however, which first came to light during their documentary in 2020. The former world heavyweight boxing champion stated he would prefer his kids to stay in school.
"Me and Tyson have talked about the kids going to school," Paris revealed. "Tyson wants the boys to go into education but I don't; it's just not what we've ever done. I was brought up as a Traveller and I want my kids to be brought up as Travellers. They will probably leave school at 11 and they'll be educated at home from then.
"The boys will take a wife and make their family and the girls will take a husband and make their family. Until they take a husband or wife they won't be leaving the home and I wouldn't want them to."
Fury replied: "You say it's something we've never done but I'm a precedent setter, am I not? Now I've set these laws and precedents, you watch how many will follow. The parents of these kids, I call them dream killers. Just because something went wrong in their life you can't pawn it off on your kids."

Fury this Sunday is set to appear in Soccer Aid in an effort to raise money for the children's charity UNICEF. The 36-year-old will co-manage the England team alongside Wayne Rooney in the annual charity game against a World XI, set to take place at Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium.
"The prospect of leading my England team to victory this June fills me with just as much excitement as any heavyweight fight," said Fury. "Everyone knows that I am a huge Manchester United fan too, so it's even more special for me that the game is at Old Trafford this year, and I get to manage one of my heroes, Wayne Rooney."
There have been 13 Soccer Aid matches since it was launched by Robbie Williams in 2006, raising around £100million for UNICEF. England have won six, including the 2024 edition, while the World XI have been victorious seven times.

Happy Father's Day Dada! Princess Eugenie shares sweet photo tribute to husband Jack Brooksbank

Princess Eugenie has shared a sweet photo tribute to her husband Jack Brooksbank to mark Father's Day. The mother-of-two took to her Instagram Stories to give royal watchers a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into her family life, by posting four images of Jack and their two sons, Ernest, two, and August, four. The snaps Eugenie, 35, posted, did not show her son's faces, however they did reveal sweet family moments. One, which showed Jack hugging one of the youngsters, was overlayed with text saying: 'Happy Father's Day Dada!'. Another, shot from behind, showed the two boys holding their father's hands as they walked through an airport. The two further images appeared to show moments from a family holiday, with one featuring Jack carrying their children down a wooden path through a sandy area, and the other showing him playing in a swimming pool with them. Eugenie's sweet tribute came just weeks after she shared a touching tribute to her 'golden boy' Ernest as he celebrated his second birthday. She shared a series of photos of both of her boys as she marked her youngest son's birthday on Instagram. In one photograph, Ernest was shown being thrown into the air by his father while on a snowy ski trip. In another, he played in the mud with his four-year-old brother. The mother-of-two wrote: 'Happy Birthday my darling Ernie. 2 today! And what an incredible two years it's been. 'Always smiling, always laughing, always giving hugs and hello's and making everyone happy. 'My golden boy, we love you!' In other pictures from the rare snapshot, Ernie and August were seen holding hands as they walked down a street in London. Another pictured them together on an airplane. Ernie is also seen being held by his mother while on a ski trip, the youngster bundled up in a bright teal snowsuit and holding firmly to a lion-shaped comforter. And in another, he adorably wears a pair of sunglasses upside-down. Another of the photographs showed Jack Brooksbank walking through what appeared to be an airport with their two sons Royal watchers were quick to join in the birthday celebrations in the comments of Eugenie's Instagram post. One person said: 'Lovely photos, hope Ernie has the best day.' Another added: 'Oh wow they are getting so big. Feels only yesterday I was watching your wedding on the telly! Happy birthday Ernie.' And a third said: 'Happy, Happy 2nd Birthday Ernie!!! Lots of love to you all!!!' Eugenie recently spoke about motherhood while appearing on a recent episode of Cressida Bonas and Isabella Branson's podcast, Lessons From Our Mothers alongside her sister Princess Beatrice. According to the royal, learning to harness one's inner strength was one of the most important lessons she had gleaned from her mother. Princess Eugenie said: 'I think for me, it's the fire inside, you know, the strength inside of you. And how to bring that out, and to pull it in when you most need it'. Eugenie married wine merchant Jack in October 2018 in a stunning ceremony at St George's Chapel in Windsor. The pair first began dating in 2011 and confirmed their relationship in an appearance at Royal Ascot that same year. When Eugenie left London to work for an auction house in New York in 2013, the pair maintained a long distance relationship. At the time, Jack told The Daily Mail: 'We spend a lot of time on Skype. It's great. We're still very much together.' In 2015 the Princess returned to London where the pair grew ever closer - and they sparked engagement rumours the following year. But it was two more years before Jack popped the question while the pair were away in Nicaragua in January 2018.

The Royal Ascot moment that made the Queen cry

Elizabeth II's horse racing adviser has revealed the Royal Ascot moment that made Queen Camilla cry. The Queen 'burst into tears' and the King 'welled up' after a horse bred by Elizabeth II won at Royal Ascot the year after her death, according to John Warren, the late Queen's long-serving bloodstock and racing adviser. The 2023 win for Desert Hero, which was formerly owned by the late Queen, was 'quite remarkable' in King Charles's first Royal Ascot as sovereign, Mr Warren added. 'The King welled up, tears in his eyes, and the Queen burst into tears,' said Mr Warren, in a documentary about the 200th anniversary of the Royal Procession at Ascot. He described the late Queen as 'unbelievably knowledgeable' about the sport, saying she was an expert horse breeder who read the Racing Post cover to cover. In 2013, the late Queen's filly Estimate won the Gold Cup, making her the first reigning monarch to win as an owner. Mr Warren said she was thrilled at the time, adding: 'When she passed the post, it brought the house down… The Queen was really, really excited. It was a day to remember.' Since the death of Elizabeth II, the King and Queen Camilla have carried on the royal support for horse racing. William Haggas, a trainer, said about Desert Hero's win: 'To do it at Royal Ascot with a homebred of the late Queen's – it doesn't get better than that.' This year, the King and Queen will attend all five days of Royal Ascot. They have four runners: Reaching High, the favourite for the Ascot Stakes on Tuesday; Rainbows Edge, which will run on Wednesday in either the Duke of Cambridge Stakes or Kensington Palace Stakes; Treasure, which is likely to run in the Kensington Palace Stakes on Wednesday; and The King's Falcon, in the Golden Gates Handicap on Saturday. The Prince and Princess of Wales are expected to attend during the week, taking part in the famous Royal Procession. The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are also stalwarts of the event, along with the Princess Royal and Zara and Mike Tindall. This year marks the 200th anniversary of the Royal Procession, in which the King and his guests will travel by carriage along part of the course in front of the crowds. The tradition began in the reign of George IV when, in May 1825, the King, accompanied by the Duke of Wellington, led four other coaches with members of the Royal party from Windsor Castle to Ascot. To mark the anniversary, this year's visitors to the Queen Anne Enclosure will be able to view one of the landaus from the Royal Procession on the ground floor of the Grandstand. The documentary, which was broadcast on ITV1 on Sunday afternoon, is available to watch on YouTube.
