PERLIS: Sabahan runner Deaxter Pius wrote his name into the record books after setting a new time in the Boys' Under-15 400 metres at the Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM) Championships. The 15-year-old from Tambunan clocked 48.90 seconds at the Tuanku Syed Putra Stadium to win gold and break the long-standing meet record. Advertisement His achievement comes shortly after he set a new Sabah Schools Sports Council (MSSS) record earlier this month with a time of 49.99 seconds. Deaxter's latest result confirms his rapid progress in the 400m event at both state and national school levels. Speaking after the race, he credited his performance to consistent training and support from those around him. 'This is the result of daily training and the encouragement of my family, coach and friends. I want to keep improving my times for Malaysia,' he said. The 21-year-old Ubaidullah knows the Portuguese winger Oliveira and Indonesian Sananta have the quality to punish the Turtles if they switch off at the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium. Davis has been the WBA lightweight champion since Devin Haney vacated the belt in 2023, but the American's title will not be on the line against YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul due to the size difference between the two boxers.
