Drake Maye 2025 Fantasy Preview
2024: After stapling Maye to the bench for five weeks, the Patriots turned to him for the remainder of their season and got much-improved quarterback play over Jacoby Brissett. It's hard to say that it mattered, because New England's offensive line and wideout play were so woeful that Maye cracked 250 passing yards only once in his team's final eight starts of the season. But Maye flashed the upside that got him drafted third overall and, more importantly for our purposes, took off for 421 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
What's changed: There was a sea change in New England this offseason with Mike Vrabel taking over as head coach. The Patriots boast three new offensive line starters and the full-season return of Cole Strange next to lone returner Mike Onwenu. Three new receivers are in the room, and TreVeyon Henderson adds an explosive pass-catcher out of the backfield as well.
2025 Outlook: Maye's rushing upside gives him some paths to being a fantasy QB1, but this offseason felt more like an establishment step for Maye than a team loading up to take down the AFC East. It's certainly within the range of outcomes that Maye is just too talented to not overachieve modest expectations. Mike Vrabel's history as Titans head coach involves never finishing in the top 25 in passing attempts and, should that continue, it caps a lot of the high-end ceiling cases for the second-year quarterback.

J.J. McCarthy shows progress in Vikings-Patriots joint practice
There's a lot to be gleaned from the Minnesota Vikings' final day of joint practice with the New England Patriots. J.J. McCarthy, in likely his last reps against another team until the regular season, looked good in the 11-on-11 portion. McCarthy had a long stretch of passes without an incompletion. The play of the day was a long, 57-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Jones. "It was nice to hit Aaron down the field. There was a little pocket movement before that," McCarthy said after practice. "I felt like the ball placement was there. A lot more accurate today than yesterday. But still a lot of throws that I want back and could put in better spots." McCarthy was significantly better on Thursday versus Wednesday's joint practice reps. Noticeable chemistry has developed with Jordan Addison, who had six catches and two touchdowns in Thursday's practice. "It felt decisive," said head coach Kevin O'Connell. "An incredible amount of conviction to some of the throws that he made. Location of the football." This week with the Patriots has also been another reunion with the Minneapolis Miracle Man himself: Stefon Diggs. Competing in individual wide receiver/cornerback drills with guys like Isaiah Rodgers, who will play a big role in his first season as a Viking. "One on ones is one on ones. I feel like it's an offensive drill," said Rodgers. "So, we really just went out there and worked on our craft and our technique and then in the team period, put it all together." For some, like backup D-lineman Jalen Redmond, these two days are an on-ramp to Saturday's game, where none or few of the starters will play. "Learning the O-lineman and the ones I'm gonna go against, really," said Redmond. "Seeing how they're gonna set me. How their run blocking is and all that, just to get a feel for Saturday, because I'm gonna be out there. Just to make it easier on my plate to know what I'm getting."

Brown 2025 Fantasy Preview 2024: Brown missed three games with a hamstring issue early in the season and got Week 18 off as the Eagles prepared for the playoffs, limiting him to 13 appearances in his third season in Philly. Despite being a mainstay of the injury report, his per-game and per-rotue numbers were as stellar as ever. He had a 17-game pace of over 1,400 yards and ranked second in the league in yards per route run during the regular season at 2.99. Passing volume and injuries prevented Brown from posting elite fantasy numbers, but he was still the superstar fantasy managers have come to know and love. What's changed: The Eagles lost offensive coordinator Kellen Moore in the offseason, but he was largely running his version of the Philadelphia offense mandated by the presence of Jalen Hurts and a history-chasing Saquon Barkley. Their biggest change for 2025 could be an uptick in passing volume. Defensive performances aren't nearly as stable year to year and Philly gave up the second-fewest points in the league in 2024. The defense should remain among the best in the league, but sustaining their 2024 level of dominance is almost impossible. 2025 Outlook: The Eagles got top-five performances by EPA per play from both their defense and their ground game in 2024. In turn, they threw 25.7 pass attempts per game, the lowest mark in the league. They aren't going to be a pass-first team in 2025, but any regression on defense or in the run game will create more volume for Brown. Rotoworld Staff, Colston Loveland 2025 Fantasy Preview 2024: In his third season at Michigan, Loveland took a step forward with bad quarterback play by averaging 5.8 targets per game and was named second team All-American. The raw numbers were not Tyler Warren numbers, but there was reason to believe in Loveland's athleticism on the field and the Wolverines were far from a pass-first offense. He was one of the draft's fastest risers, eventually becoming the first tight end off the board to the Bears. What's changed: Stuck in what could become a timeshare with Cole Kmet, Loveland missed the majority of the early offseason with a shoulder injury that required surgery before the combine. He was expected to be cleared for training camp, but missed valuable reps with Caleb Williams. 2025 Outlook: This isn't to say anything about what Loveland will eventually be, but you could characterize the two things working against him so far as follows: Kmet's presence (see Dalton Kincaid with Dawson Knox) could be a major snap limiter. Missing the early offseason has tended to portend badly for all manner of pass catchers, let alone someone with little college production. We believe in the traits and we understand why the Bears did what they did, but someone in this offense will probably be overdrafted and there are plenty of warning flags around Loveland.
