PhysicsWallah to provide Rs 300 crore learning tools in Telangana
Ed-tech platform PhysicsWallah has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Education of Telangana to offer educational products worth Rs 300 crore across the academic years 2025–2029. As part of the initiative, PhysicsWallah will deliver live classes, localised content, online educational resources including videos, articles and exercises, and access to AI tutors that can assist with doubts.
According to the company, the partnership will benefit students from Grades 9–12 in the state. For students in Classes 11 and 12, the content will be aligned with NEET and JEE preparation, while Class 9 and 10 students will have access to foundational resources to support academic performance, the company said in a statement.
In 2025, over 5 lakh (5,09,403) students appeared for the Class 10 exams and nearly 10 lakh (9,96,971) students appeared for intermediate examinations under the Telangana State Board.
Speaking about the collaboration, Prateek Maheshwari, Co-founder of PhysicsWallah, said, 'We are proud to support the Government of Telangana in attempting to make learning accessible to students preparing for milestones like NEET and JEE. This initiative is an example of our shared attempt to equity in public education.'
A statement from the Chief Minister's Office read, 'The decision to seek the help of noted organisations was taken in line with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's idea of improving educational standards in the state. The state government strongly believes that partnering with India's renowned organisations will bring a revolutionary change in the education sector in the country.'

Ship mishap claim: Kerala HC directs registry to deposit money in bank
Kochi: High court on Monday directed the HC registry to deposit the amount of Rs 6 crore, covered by the demand draft provided by the owners of the cargo vessel MSC MANASA F, towards the claim raised by three cashew importing companies for losses suffered due to the capsize of MSC ELSA 3, in a fixed deposit with a nationalised bank for a year. The bench of Justice M A Abdul Hakhim issued the order on petitions filed by five cashew importing companies seeking compensation for the loss of their cargo due to the sinking of the Liberian-flagged cargo vessel MSC ELSA 3 off Kerala coast on May 25. The petitioners had approached the HC with interim prayers to arrest MSC MANASA F, a sister vessel of the sunken ship, which was anchored at Vizhinjam, until the realisation of their claims. Accordingly, on June 12, the bench ordered the arrest of the vessel until the shipping company produced a demand draft for Rs 6 crore before the HC registrar general. On Monday, the owners of the vessel informed HC that the demand draft towards the petitioners' claim had been deposited with the registrar, and the high court registry confirmed the same. Additionally, the owners sought a directive to transfer the amount covered by the demand draft to an interest-bearing account. The court accepted the request and ordered accordingly, before adjourning the petitions. The petitioner companies, based in Kollam, stated in their pleas that they had purchased dried raw cashew nuts from a trading company in Dubai, which were shipped in containers bound for Tuticorin port. According to the petitioners, the consignments were expected to arrive at Tuticorin on May 24 aboard MSC ELSA 3. However, the Indian agent of the shipping company informed them via email on May 28 that the vessel had sunk on May 25 en route from Vizhinjam to Kochi, resulting in the total loss of cargo. This led the companies to file Admiralty suits seeking compensation.

Inspired by her brothers, she decided to appear for JEE-Main VIRUDHUNAGAR: A few years ago, S Yogeshwari of Tamil Nadu had no idea what aerospace engineering was. Today, she is set to join IIT-Bombay to study aerospace engineering. For a rural Virudhunagar girl suffering from dwarfism, it's been a journey powered by hard work and perseverance, and a helping hand from her teachers and the government. Yogeshwari's mother, Kanagavalli, works as a daily wage labourer in a fireworks unit, while her father, Selvam, is employed at a tea shop. She did her class XII from a government school near Sattur. "I was drawn to science from class VII, initially leaning towards medical science. In class XII, I discovered aerospace engineering through programmes like the Naan Mudhalvan scheme," Yogeshwari said, adding that her parents always encouraged her and her two elder brothers to pursue education. Though never a topper, Yogeshwari was eager to learn. Inspired by her brothers - one is pursuing BCom, the other physical education - she decided to appear for JEE-Main after class XII. "I scolded her at first for scoring below 450 marks (in class 12), but she challenged me that she'd do well in JEE. And she did - my tears of anger turned into tears of pride," said her mother. Yogeshwari attended a 40-day residential JEE-Advanced coaching camp in Erode, despite her parents' initial worries. "Coming from a Tamil medium background, JEE-Advanced was tough at first. But with my teachers' help, I cleared it," she said. Virudhunagar district collector V P Jeyaseelan has assured her full support as she prepares to join IIT-Bombay.

29 terminals and 10 routes proposed for water metro project
Mumbai: The water metro development plan proposed for Mumbai region by the consultants — Kochi Water Metro — on Monday suggested setting up of a total of 29 terminals and has identified 10 routes, with suggestions to further expand them. The project will also include passenger amenities at jetty terminals, boat procurement, and other facilities. "The Water Metro project is significant in developing an alternative transport system in Mumbai, and its work should begin at the earliest. Additionally, the final development plan for the Water Metro by the state, mainly the MMB, should be submitted within three months," instructed fisheries and ports minister Nitesh Rane soon after state consultants submitted their report to him. Rane instructed that jetties and metro terminals should be developed similar to land metro stations and be integrated with other modes of transport. An estimated budget of Rs 2,500 crore has been projected for the entire project. The Water Metro is expected to significantly reduce travel time in Mumbai, besides decongesting trains, buses and road traffic. While deciding ticket fares, it should be ensured they remain affordable," he added. "The Water Metro will prove to be a good option for commuting from North Mumbai to South Mumbai and from Navi Mumbai to South Mumbai," he said.
