Revanth rules out vendetta politics, pledges focus on Telangana's growth

Time of India2 days ago
Hyderabad: Chief minister A
Revanth Reddy
on Saturday reiterated that he would not indulge in vendetta politics against those who targeted him while he was in the opposition, stressing that the mandate given by four crore people would be used solely for public welfare.
"I believe in 'karma siddhantam'. Those who misused power against me will ultimately face consequences for their actions. I do not see anyone as an enemy. I am not a fool to misuse power for personal dislikes. The people of Telangana have entrusted me with a huge responsibility, and in fact, my victory itself is sorrow for my opponents," he said.
Revanth was speaking after releasing the book 'Hasitha Bhashpalu,' authored by Sri Ram and published by eminent poet Ande Sri.
Expressing pride that the author hailed from the combined Mahbubnagar district, Revanth said he intended to remain active in politics until 2040.

"I don't know how long I will be CM — five years, 10 years or more — but I will continue to serve people in any capacity. Many poets and activists sacrificed everything for Telangana without ever claiming to be statehood leaders. Ande Sri never claimed it either. But some politicians, who now own media houses and amassed wealth, call themselves statehood activists.
How can such leaders make these claims while profiteering?" he asked, in an indirect reference to BRS leaders.
Responding to criticism over showcasing the command control centre and secretariat built by the previous government, he said: "For them, buildings mean development. For me, true development is when the poor live with dignity in their own homes and eat fine rice provided by our govt. I made international delegates from 100 countries sing Telangana's state song and witness the Telangana Thalli statue that represents our women's aspirations.
Are these not achievements?"
Reaffirming his commitment to people's welfare, Revanth said his vision was to make Telangana a $3 trillion economy by 2047 and a model state for the world.

Angry at Rahul, Modi blocking BC quota bills: CM

Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy Monday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was blocking approval of the two BC reservation bills and an ordinance to remove the 50% cap on reservations because of his anger at Rahul Gandhi 's fight for education, employment, and political empowerment of Backward Classes. "If PM Modi and Union minister G Kishan Reddy have anything against Rahul Gandhi's stand for justice to the BCs, let them book more cases against him individually. Already, there are several cases pending. But they should stop blocking the BC quota bills. Modi and Kishan Reddy should take up the issue with the President and ensure assent for the two bills passed by the Telangana assembly and the ordinance. The BJP has the power to do it," Revanth said. He was speaking at the 375th birth anniversary celebrations of Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud Maharaj at Ravindra Bharati here. Revanth hit out at both the BJP and BRS for 'undermining' BC rights. While the BJP, he said, was using Muslim reservations as a pretext to block higher BC quota, the previous BRS govt led by K Chandrasekhar Rao restricted reservations to 50% in the Panchayat Raj Act of 2018. These were forwarded by the governor to the President. "When we realised assent was being delayed, we held a massive dharna at Jantar Mantar. Leaders and MPs from Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and other states joined us. But neither BJP nor BRS leaders participated. That dharna was not for Congress' political gain but for the empowerment of bahujans. Their absence exposed both parties as 'anti-BC'," he said. Rejecting BJP's argument on Muslim quota, Revanth said: "The Constitution does not allow religion-based reservations. If there were any, the Supreme Court would strike them down within minutes. Show us where religion-based reservations exist in our 42% BC quota bills. This is a BJP conspiracy to deny BCs their rights under the guise of opposing Muslim quota." He pointed out that Muslim reservations under the BC category have existed for over 56 years. "If the BJP really opposes them, let them remove them in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh first," he said, urging BC communities to see through "these conspiracies." He said BC empowerment can happen only through education, employment, and political representation and guaranteed reservations. The CM laid the foundation for the installation of a statue of Sardar Sarvai Papanna near the secretariat. Box CM Revanth Reddy and deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka will join Rahul Gandhi's Bihar padayatra. The CM alleged that BJP was deleting names of lakhs of voters across states. "Vote chori is being done to win elections. In Bihar, 65 lakh names were deleted. It happened in Maharashtra, and it will happen in Telangana. People who are alive are shown as dead, while outsiders are enrolled as voters. Rahul Gandhi exposed this conspiracy, but instead of answers, the ECI asked him for affidavits. Is this justice?" he asked. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Gehlot questions delay by private schools in RTE admissions

Jaipur: Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot Monday met parents whose children, despite being selected for admission in private schools under Right to Education (RTE), are still waiting for the admission process to be completed. Parents met Gehlot under the banner of Sanyukt Abhibhavak Sangh. Gehlot said, "This situation is very unfortunate and unjust because education is a fundamental right of children. I want to ask that if even the selected children do not get admission to the school, then what is the meaning of the lottery? It is the responsibility of the education department and the govt to get these children admitted in schools at any cost." tnn Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). ‘Encounter specialist', another cop awarded with Shaurya Chakra

Raipur: Two policemen from Bastar's Kanker district—inspector Laxman Kewat and inspector Rameshwar Prasad Deshmukh—have been awarded the Shaurya Chakra for their courage in Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) operations, officials said. The honour was given for their role in April 2024 Kalpar hill encounter, where security forces gunned down 29 Maoists in one of the deadliest operations in recent years. Among the two, inspector Kewat stands out as one of Chhattisgarh's most celebrated anti-Maoist commanders, officials said. Since joining the police force in 2007 and being posted in insurgency-hit Bijapur in 2012, he has led 36 operations, and is credited with eliminating 92 Maoists. His first encounter on March 23, 2014, earned him an out-of-turn promotion. Kewat recalls how he once wrestled with fear in Bastar: "Either I could've quit the job and went home, or I could've fought the Maoists. I chose to fight. If everyone left, who would protect the people of Bastar?" He said. That decision has since shaped his career. In April 2023, Kewat led 187 personnel in the Kalpar hills operation that resulted in 29 Maoist deaths, considered a major turn for police morale. Inspector Deshmukh was among other troops accompanying him. Kanker SP Kalyan Elesela said that he personally knows Kewat since 2014 when he was a sub-inspector and the duo, along with Deshmukh, have carried out several operations together. Kewat is a leader and very brave, he said. Kewat's strategy to round up Maoists during operations, and grab them while they attempt to flee, has been his winning-point, officials added.
