UAE workers looking forward to the Eid Al Adha 2025 holidays can maximise time off by strategically using vacation days to maximise free time next month.
The UAE has already announced dates for the Eid Al Adha and Arafat Day holidays in 2025, with a total of four days of for the public and private sector.
UAE legislation declared that Arafat day will be on the ninth day of Dhul Hijja and will be a one-day holiday. This will be immediately followed by Eid Al Adha, which will be from Dhul Hijja 10 to 12 in the Islamic calendar.
UAE Eid Al Adha 2025 holiday guide
Islamic holidays are based on the Hijri calendar and are based on the moon cycle and lunar sightings, so the official corresponding dates will only be announced closer to the actual time.
However, using current forecasts and clever holiday booking UAE workers can extend the time off with just a few days of annual leave.
Based on current forecasts Arafat Day is predicted to land on Thursday, June 5. This will mean Eid Al Adha 2025 in the UAE is likely to begin on Friday, June 6 and last until Sunday, June 8.
With Saturday-Sunday being a typical weekend in the United Arab Emirates, it would mean a four-day holiday for Eid Al Adha 2025 running from Thursday, June 5 to Sunday, June 8.
With three days of annual leave booked at the right time, this could covert into a nine-day holiday for UAE workers.
For employees who work a typical Monday to Friday week in the UAE, booking Monday, June 2 until Wednesday, June 4 gives the best chance of an extended holiday.
This would mean a nine-day break when factoring in two weekends and the expected Eid Al Adha 2025 holiday as employees would be out of office from Saturday, May 31 until a return after Eid Al Adha on Monday, June 9.
Commonly known as the Feast of Sacrifice, this period is one of the holiest in the Islamic calendar. Special prayers, feasts and charity acts are observed.
The UAE Cabinet said public holidays 'cannot be transferred to another day in the event it coincides with another public holiday or falls on the weekend'.

Near the holy city of Makkah, men in white robes stand quietly in a long queue, waiting for the next important act of their Hajj pilgrimage: a haircut. Shaving or cutting the hair comes near the end of the Hajj, and marks the moment when pilgrims can change out of the Ihram clothing that signifies purity and devotion. On the pilgrimage's last day, which coincides with the major festival of Eid Al Adha, its barbers typically handle 6,000 customers, said manager Imad Fawzi, an official employed by the Hajj organisation. Inside, men in plastic aprons wield electric clippers and cut-throat razors, shearing scalps on an industrial scale for 60 riyals ($13) a time. Despite the rush — there are so many customers that an usher is required — Ahmed, a 28-year-old barber from Egypt, is happy in his work. "This is a very simple thing to do, but it brings us so much joy," he says. Fawzi, who grew up in Makkah, called himself a "child of the Hajj". "I've been working in Hajj since I was seven," he says. 'This outfit is exhausting' The once-a-year hairdresser's is not the only place for a cut: parts of Makkah and the plain of Mina, on its outskirts, turn into an open-air barbershop at this stage of the Hajj. Leaving the Jamarat, a Southeast Asian man took out a razor and started scraping the back of his head as he walked. Further down the street, a group of African men were shaving each other with clippers. In Mecca, entire streets are lined with barbershops doing brisk business. While men shave their hair, women trim theirs by a fingertip-length. About 1.6 million pilgrims have gathered in and around Mecca, Islam's holiest city, for this year's Hajj, which all Muslims with the means must complete at least once. Outside the Jamarat hairdresser's, Hani Abdel Samih is looking forward to changing out of the wrap-around skirt and shawl he has been wearing for the past three days. "The stoning of the devil at Jamarat requires great effort and we've been wearing these clothes all day," he said. "We wanted to wear our everyday clothes and be comfortable, so we went to the nearest barbershop we could find after the Jamarat," said the Egyptian. Yet his face is beaming with joy. He said he does not mind the wait for a haircut that bears a special place in his spiritual journey. "I'm excited, of course! Because this is Sunnah from the Prophet, peace be upon him," he said, referring to the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed. "We like (this ritual) and we cannot break it," he said. The Hajj retraces the Prophet's last pilgrimage, with rites at Makkah's Grand Mosque and Mount Arafat before "stoning the devil" — throwing pebbles at three giant walls at Jamarat.

UAE shoppers want 1-click, biometric checkouts for safer online payments: Visa
Consumers across the UAE are calling for more secure and seamless online shopping experiences, according to Visa's latest Checkout Friction Report. Despite the rapid growth of ecommerce and digital adoption in the region, key challenges at the checkout stage continue to hinder consumer satisfaction and business performance. Based on a survey of more than 2,000 online shoppers across the GCC, the report shows that security concerns and complex payment steps are the top barriers to smooth transactions. Online shopping in the UAE In the UAE, 40 per cent of shoppers cite fear of fraud as their biggest concern, while 37 per cent are frustrated by the need to repeatedly enter card details. Shopping frequency is high, with one in three UAE consumers buying groceries online multiple times a week, and categories like fashion, entertainment, and electronics seeing regular purchases monthly. However, friction during checkout can lead to abandoned carts and lost revenue for retailers. Visa's research underscores a growing preference for advanced payment technologies. A significant 67 per cent of UAE shoppers said they would adopt biometric authentication like fingerprint or face ID to check out online. Additionally, 65 per cent support a unified registration process for digital payments across websites. The report also highlights that 82 per cent of consumers would shop online more frequently if one-click checkout options were widely available, and 66 per cent are likely to use Visa's 'Click to Pay with Biometrics' feature. This solution simplifies online shopping by eliminating manual card entry, using secure device-based biometric authentication to speed up and protect the transaction process. Salima Gutieva, Visa's VP and Country Manager for UAE, said: 'Challenges in the online checkout process have direct implications for businesses, resulting in lost revenue, and hampering both customer acquisition and retention. 'Today's consumers expect – and deserve – a more seamless and secure eCommerce experience. That's why Visa is working with partners to enable solutions like Click to Pay, which leverages biometrics and tokenisation to eliminate key pain points and deliver a more convenient shopping experience.
