To strengthen India's maritime security, Adani Defence & Aerospace announced a partnership with the American company Sparton on May 18. Sparton, a group company of Elbit Systems, will now assist Adani in assembling Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) systems in India.
Under this partnership, Sonobuoys and other anti-submarine warfare systems will be manufactured in India. This initiative is taken under Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) and Make in India schemes. For the first time, a private Indian company will provide the Navy a domestically-produced Sonobuoy solutions.
The partnership aims to localise the assemblage of sonobuoys and other ASW systems in India under the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative.
Sonobuoys are mission-critical platforms for enhancing Undersea Domain Awareness (UDA), providing an effective means to detect, locate, and track submarines and other underwater threats. Playing a key role in anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and other naval operations, they support in maintaining naval security and protecting carrier strike groups.
Sparton manufactures electronic sensor systems, navigation systems, and undersea warfare delivery systems.
'For decades, India has been importing this critical naval capability from global markets, increasing our dependence on foreign OEMs. Aligned with the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Make in India' initiative, Sparton's ongoing relationship with the Indian Navy will now facilitate Adani Defence to indigenise the delivery of these solutions that are made in India, for India,' the statement said.
Jeet Adani, Vice President of Adani Enterprises, remarked, 'In an increasingly volatile maritime environment, strengthening India's undersea warfare capabilities is not merely a strategic priority but an imperative for safeguarding sovereignty and national interests. The Indian Navy requires integrated, mission-ready ISR and anti-submarine warfare capabilities, including critical systems like sonobuoys, that are indigenously developed, swiftly deployable, and globally competitive.

According to BSS Material, the AI-integrated system maintained stable target acquisition, adaptive fire control, and semi-autonomous surveillance throughout the trials. Engineers said the weapon's core lies in a sophisticated multi-sensor AI module capable of automatic target detection, friend-foe classification, and real-time technological features include:Thermal and optical sensor fusion for precision targetingBallistic compensation for wind, range, and temperature variablesEncrypted remote command compatibilityThe AI-powered Negev system is designed for deployment in high-risk or logistically challenging environments. It can be used for base defence, convoy protection, and perimeter security where constant threat levels require rapid response but troop deployment remains the modular nature of the system, BSS engineers noted that the AI module is platform-agnostic and can be integrated with a wide range of weapon systems, from light machine guns to anti-drone solutions. Deployment options include tripods, remote weapon stations (RWS), unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), and static test followed Operation Sindoor, where Indian weapons outperformed their Pakistani counterparts in field conditions. With the integration of AI in weapons like the Negev, India aims to extend its strategic reach into remote and high-risk zones with reduced dependence on manpower.

Rednote joins wave of Chinese firms releasing open-source AI models
BEIJING, June 9 (Reuters) - China's Rednote, one of the country's most popular social media platforms, has released an open-source large language model, joining a wave of Chinese tech firms making their artificial intelligence models freely available. The approach contrasts with many U.S. tech giants like OpenAI and Google, which have kept their most advanced models proprietary, though some American firms including Meta have also released open-source models. Gautam Adani earned Rs 10.41 crore in FY25: Who earned more than him?
Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group, earned Rs 10.41 crore in the financial year 2024–25. This marks a 12% rise from the previous year, as per annual reports of the group's listed companies. However, even with this increase, his earnings were lower than many top executives in the corporate world, including some within his own 62, received his salary from two of the nine listed firms in the Adani Group. He earned Rs 2.26 crore in salary and Rs 28 lakh in allowances from Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL). From Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), he drew Rs 1.8 crore in salary and Rs 6.07 crore as commission, totalling Rs 7.87 the previous financial year, his total salary stood at Rs 9.26 crore, Rs 2.54 crore from AEL and Rs 6.8 crore from APSEZ.
