SOME of the world's best will be battling it out for the Baltic Sea Darts Open title - and the prize money too.
Rob Cross stunned Luke Humphries when he beat Cool Hand in a sensational 2024 final.

And the Englishman banked a nice £30,000 just for winning the showpiece match alone.
But Cross will have to potentially see off the likes of Luke Humphries Michael van Gerwen and Stephen Bunting if he is to earn another payday this weekend.
However, Cross won't have to worry about Luke Littler as the teen sensation is continuing his exile from European tours.

Red Bull start life after Christian Horner with sprint win for Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen won the first Formula One race staged following Christian Horner 's dismissal as Red Bull team principal in Saturday's sprint race in Belgium. Eighteen days after Horner was told his two-decade reign was over, Verstappen claimed the Red Bull 's first win of any sort since he raced to victory in Imola on 18 May. Verstappen started second, but batted aside pole-sitter Oscar Piastri on the opening lap before keeping the world championship leader at bay. Verstappen crossed the line in Spa-Francorchamps just 0.753 seconds clear of Piastri. Lando Norris started third and finished in the same position to allow Piastri to extend his title lead from eight points to nine ahead of qualifying later today for Sunday's main event. Horner's dramatic exit from Red Bull after 20 years in charge stunned the sporting world, and the Belgian Grand Prix marks the first F1 event in 406 races where he has been watching on from his sofa rather than from the Red Bull pit wall. Verstappen split the McLaren drivers in qualifying to join Piastri on the front row. Piastri started well to keep Verstappen behind on the short run to La Source only for the Dutchman – armed with a low-downforce rear wing to provide greater speed up through Eau Rouge and on to the Kemmel Straight – to jink to his left and sail past Piastri under braking for Les Combes. Further back and Norris – a distant six tenths behind Piastri in qualifying – was perhaps too timid on his brakes into the same corner, and lost out to Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, relegating him to fourth. On lap four, Norris cleared Leclerc to regain third spot, and by lap 10 he was within half-a-second of team-mate Piastri – the top three covered by a little more than a second. With four laps to go, Piastri was closer than he had ever been and Verstappen was forced to cover off the racing line under braking for Les Combes. However, that would be the closest Piastri would get to the Red Bull as the four-time world champion delivered Laurent Mekies' first win in charge of Red Bull with Norris only six tenths back from his McLaren team-mate. Leclerc took fourth spot, one place ahead of Haas' Esteban Ocon with Williams driver Carlos Sainz sixth and British rookie Ollie Bearman an impressive seventh. George Russell started a lowly 13th and improved one place to 12th, while Lewis Hamilton finished 15th of the 19 who took the flag – making up just three positions after he spun in qualifying.

The unseen Scot behind Josh Rock's rise as he reveals where Luke Littler friendship started

The Northern Ireland hero is buzzing for a semi-final cracker with his big mate Luke Littler In-form Josh Rock is predicting fireworks in his clash with big mate Luke Littler. ‌ And the Northern Irish star has revealed the driving force behind his surge towards the Betfred World Matchplay crown. ‌ Rock and Littler are both fighting to become the youngest-ever winners of the Blackpool darts showpiece and meet in a last-four cracker. ‌ The 24-year-old can't wait to battle with The Nuke having seen off the likes of Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price on his run to the semis. He said: 'If I want to win this title, I have to win it the hard way. Played Ross Smith, European champion. MVG, three-time world champion, Gezzy, one-time world champion. Now I've got one of my close friends, Luke, one-time world champion. If you want to win this title, you have to beat the best. 'It's our first meeting in any PDC scenario, so I'm expecting him to hit everything and, hopefully, I hit everything and we'll see who the winner is. Me and Littler are very, very close. Not a lot of people know that, but we are. The first time we met was actually in Killarney before I won my Tour card. Everybody heard of him and I actually beat him 4-2 in that scenario, but in the short format, it means nothing. It was in the WDF, where you start from. 'I would say when he won his Your card and because we're in the same age bracket, well I'm six years older, but at the same time, he's matured a lot, and we talk nearly every day. The two of us know how we can play, we can both win any tournament when we're on our day, but when sometimes close friends come into the scenario, it can be difficult, but hopefully tomorrow for the two of us, it doesn't. 'I'm not feeling the pressure and he obviously clearly doesn't feel any pressure at all, so I think between the two of us, it'll be fireworks.' Rock is ready with the World Cup win under his belt and said: 'I think I was a wee bit scared [in the past] of learning how to win, whereas I'm not now, I want to win and I'll feed off winning, whereas back then, I was like: Oh, I'm going in the semi-final of the Grand Slam, whereas now, I've had the UK Open semi-final, won the World Cup and all that. I'm not scared to win now.' Rock's form has rocketed in recent months since his switch to join Target Darts and he also credits much of his rise to Scots manager Rab Bain. He said: 'The best thing that's ever happened to me, as soon as everything was done and dusted, especially Rab, he helped me out so much, mentally. Rab was a part of Target and the call that Gary [Plummer] wanted me from Target, I was like: Happy days. 'When I was a young kid at 12, I always wore a Target shirt anyway and I went: One day I'd love to be sponsored by Target, never knowing that I'd have the career I have now. And then when I got that phone call that Gary wanted me, I was a wee bit emotional.'

The only opportunity was the first lap and we got them. We were playing cat and mouse and I could not afford to make a mistake. 'You are keeping faster cars behind so you have to drive beyond your limit and replicate 15 qualifying laps. It was not easy but we managed to do it. 'The team can count on me that I will give my very best whoever is in charge. They know that. And that is what they pay me for. It is positive. We need positive energy, and this is a great start for us.' Advertisement Norris said: 'I was not going to pass anyone unless Oscar got past Max. There was not a lot we could do today. A winning start for Laurent Mekies! 💪 #F1Sprint #BelgianGP @redbullracing — Formula 1 (@F1) July 26, 2025 'It was tough. I hoped to have a battle, but the Red Bull was too quick in the straight for us to catch up. Maybe we need to make some tweaks to qualifying. I am not too fussed about sprint races and the plan is to win the Grand Prix.'
