Indian tourist arrested in Pattaya for stealing ₹16,000 from transgender woman
Ploy told the media outlet that she met the suspect at an Indian-themed pub on Walking Street, where they struck up a conversation and later decided to continue drinking at his guesthouse room.
Upon her arrival, the man allegedly persuaded her to take a shower. When she came out, she noticed him closing a safe in a suspicious manner. On checking her belongings, she realised that 7,000 baht had been stolen from her bag. When she tried to leave, the suspect reportedly stopped her and prevented her from exiting the room.
Hotel staff intervened after hearing the woman's cries for help and alerted the police. Nong stated that the man appeared intoxicated and possibly under the influence of drugs, displaying erratic behaviour, including sticking out his tongue and acting in a bizarre manner.
Thai police have detained the man, and he remains in custody. An investigation has been launched.
In a similar incident, a 38-year-old Indian man was arrested for allegedly stealing items worth ₹ 3.5 lakh from 14 shops at Singapore's Jewel Changi Airport before flying out of the country. According to The Straits Times, the stolen goods included perfumes, cosmetics, and bags worth a total of SGD 5,136. The suspect left Singapore after committing the thefts but was arrested on June 1 upon returning and transiting through Changi Airport. The Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed his arrest in a press release on July 23, stating that the stolen items had been recovered. He is expected to be charged with theft and fraudulent possession of property on July 25.

Five TN fishermen arrested by Sri Lankan Navy
Five Tamil fishermen from Rameswaram were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and fishing in Sri Lankan territorial waters near Neduntheevu (Katchatheevu) in the early hours of Tuesday. The repeated arrests have sparked concern among the fishing community in Rameswaram, who say their livelihoods are being disrupted. 'The sea is our only means of survival. Every time someone is arrested, it creates fear among others,' said a representative of the fishermen's union. Fishermen's associations have repeatedly urged both the Indian and Tamil Nadu governments to take up the issue with Sri Lanka and ensure a long-term solution. They have also called for the retrieval of confiscated boats, which represent a significant financial loss for the families involved. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Hours after the operation, the three slain terrorists were identified as Hashim Musa alias Suleiman, widely regarded as the mastermind behind the Pahalgam attack. The other two have also been identified as Yasir, Abu Hamza. All three of them were foreign nationals affiliated with the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). But how did Indian authorities track these three terrorists down and kill them? What's the significance of the name behind the operation? We get you all the answers and much, much more. Tracking the 3 terrorists down Ever since the April 22 Pahalgam attack in which 26 people were horrifically killed, the security personnel in Kashmir have been on high alert and been searching for any clues to find those involved in the attack. They finally received a breakthrough 14 days ago when they received suspicious communication. The forces got a clue about a Chinese ultra radio communication being active, after which the operation was carried out. The LeT uses the Chinese radio for encrypted messages and reportedly even used them during the planning and execution of the Pahalgam terror attack. Then two days ago, the group of terrorists activated the communication device once again, allowing for the security officials to pick up their precise location — the Dachigam forest area. Official sources revealed that local nomads also provided inputs, helping the forces to narrow down the location of the terrorists. The encounter occurred in General Area Lidwas and drone footage showed three bodies, confirming that three terrorists were neutralised. Preliminary reports suggest a US-made carbine, an AK-47, 17 rifle grenades, and other materials were recovered. They are capable of hitting targets that are over 200 metres away. Meanwhile, families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack said they have received some kind of closure following the killing of the terrorists. US senator wants Musk to block use of Starlink by financial fraud groups in Southeast Asia
By David Shepardson WASHINGTON: A Democratic senator on Monday urged SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to block transnational criminal groups in Southeast Asia from using Starlink satellite internet service to commit fraud against Americans. Senator Maggie Hassan cited recent reports that Starlink is being used to facilitate fraud against Americans by a broad range of transnational criminal organizations operating "scam compounds" in Southeast Asia. The U.S. Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network said these groups defrauded Americans out of billions of dollars, she added. "Scam networks in Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos, however, have apparently continued to use Starlink despite service rules permitting SpaceX to terminate access for fraudulent activity," Hassan wrote in a letter to Musk seen by Reuters. "SpaceX has a responsibility to block criminals from using the service to target Americans." SpaceX did not immediately respond to a request for comment. For years, criminal networks have trafficked hundreds of thousands of people to scam compounds across Southeast Asia, including many along the Thai-Myanmar border, where victims are forced to work in illegal online schemes, according to the United Nations. "While most people have probably noticed the increasing number of scam texts, calls, and emails they're receiving, they may not know that transnational criminals halfway across the world may be perpetrating these scams by using Starlink internet access," Hassan wrote. Since February, Thailand has halted electricity, internet, and fuel supplies to five Myanmar border areas, including Myawaddy, in a bid to disrupt the scam centers, which have become an escalating regional security concern. International pressure to shut down the scam centers intensified following the abduction of Chinese actor Wang Xing, who was kidnapped after arriving in Thailand in January. He was later rescued by Thai police, who located him across the border in Myanmar. Criminal networks, mainly emanating from China, are known to run several of these scam centers, including those in the Myawaddy region, according to the United States Institute of Peace.
