Former USC guard Desmond Claude commits to Washington
Back in April, USC men's basketball star guard Desmond Claude made headlines when he surprisingly entered the transfer portal. On Sunday, Claude found a new home: He is headed to the Pacific Northwest to join Big Ten foe Washington.
Claude is not the first Trojan transfer to depart for the Huskies this offseason. In May, Washington hired away USC assistant coach Quincy Pondexter. Shortly following that move, another high-profile Trojan transfer, Wesley Yates III, also announced his commitment to the Huskies.
Here is what Huskies Wire had to say about the addition of Claude:
'As the Huskies scoured the country for a seasoned, high-impact wing to round out the rotation, the 6-foot-6 senior, who was named an All-Big Ten honorable mention for the 2024-25 season, is the perfect fit.
Although he shot just 30.7 percent from long range last season, which has been one of Sprinkle's biggest points of emphasis throughout the offseason, Claude led the Trojans with an average of 15.8 points and 4.2 assists per game, adding 3.5 rebounds per contest while bringing several much-needed aspects to the roster.'
With Claude and Yates both departing Southern California for Seattle, next season's matchups between USC and Washington should certainly be interesting. The Trojans and Huskies are slated to face off twice next season—once at Galen Center, and once in the Pacific Northwest.

Dan Quinn Sends Message To Veteran-Laden Commanders Roster
Dan Quinn Sends Message To Veteran-Laden Commanders Roster originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It took a single season for Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn to turn his team into a winner. They reached the conference finals for the first time in three decades after a 12-win regular season. Advertisement An underrated part of Washington's success last year came thanks to key veteran pickups on both sides of the ball. Veterans like linebacker Bobby Wagner, tight end Zach Ertz, center Tyler Biadasz, and many others were brought in to establish a winning culture for Washington. They certainly did that and more in 2024. Now comes the even harder part - sustaining that success. Speaking to reporters at OTAs, Quinn made it clear exactly what he expects from his veteran-laden roster. "One of the main things for the players starting off to be here, can you be an awesome teammate, top of the pile," Quinn said. "Then it gets into your role, what that can mean, how good can you get at these specific things? And then we go from there but it has to be, man, being a great teammate first. Advertisement "How do you show that to one another because not everybody's outspoken or not giving each other greeting cards every day, but there's spaces that you fill in that you're helping one another see how good you can get." Chemistry matters a great deal to a coach like Quinn. He has seen teams win games because it is there, and vice versa. It's a similar kind of messaging the coach gave this roster last season when they were first getting started together. If the Commanders want to be Super Bowl contenders, then the rest of the roster better follow Quinn's 'greeting card' commands for 2025.
