Fashion student gives Shah Rukh Khan's Met Gala look mind blowing updates; internet calls it better than the actual look

Hindustan Times09-05-2025

The Met Gala 2025 was historic for many reasons, with one of the biggest highlights being Shah Rukh Khan's much-anticipated debut on the iconic red carpet. Joining him were other Indian celebrities such as Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh, who also made their presence felt at the prestigious event. Shah Rukh Khan served as a muse for celebrated designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, stepping out in a striking black ensemble that paid homage to this year's theme: 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.' Dressed in a black shirt and matching trousers cinched with a fabric belt, SRK completed the look with a dramatic, floor-sweeping black jacket left open at the front—blending tradition with contemporary flair.
While his look was widely appreciated for its elegance and thematic relevance, it also sparked mixed reactions from some corners of the internet. What truly stood out, however, were his bold accessories: layers of neck chains featuring a prominent 'K' pendant symbolizing 'King', an array of statement rings, and a regal walking stick topped with the sculpted head of a Royal Bengal tiger—an unmistakable nod to his iconic stature and roots.

On May 9, Utkarsh Upadhyay, a NIFT Mumbai alumni, reimagined SRK's Met Gala look by merging his designs with AI tools, and the Internet is saying they are better than the actual outfit. 'Presenting Shah Rukh Khan — In my wild reinterpretation of Met Gala glam through the lens of Indian textile heritage, dandyism, and my personal obsession with SRK. Each look is rooted in craft and imagination,' Utkarsh wrote. Also read | Shah Rukh Khan's insane Met Gala watch price could buy an Aston Martin Valiant

Here are the five looks designed and explained by the fashion student.
2. Bombay art deco dandy: A sharp, gold-on-black silhouette drawn from the bold geometry of Mumbai's Art Deco buildings mixed with vintage dandy tailoring.
3. Parsi gara elegance: A sheer coat hand-embroidered (digitally!) with delicate Parsi Gara motifs, reimagined for the red carpet in noir tones.
4. Pashmina royal: Rich Kashmiri pashmina textures styled as dramatic floor-length capes and sculpted lapels, creating a soft-yet-regal silhouette.
5. Sabyasachi redux: A head-to-toe homage to the Sabyasachi universe—velvet, embroidery, heritage jewelry, and unapologetic maximalism.
The Internet was quick to react to the reel shared by Utkarsh. 'You did justice to SRK than Sabyasachi,' read one comment, while another user wrote, 'So much better than what he actually wore.' 'Love these looks; so much better then what he actually wore,' commented a netizen. Another netizen wrote that Utkarsh should design SRK's next Met Gala look - 'I'm one of his fans but.. I think they could have done better for his outfit. Next time bro, u style his outfit.' One user wrote, 'Ohh my god!! Why weren't you the designer,' to which Utkarsh commented saying, 'technically I got 3 more awards then what sabya got when he graduated but unfortunately these luxury designers pay like 20k and give you life trauma, so I joined a NYC based AI company instead.' Some users even tagged Shah Rukh Khan and Sabyasachi in the comments and asked them to consider Utkarsh.

Gauri Khan Rents Rs 1.35 Lakh Flat For Staff As Mannat Undergoes Renovation: Report

Last Updated: Gauri Khan has rented a 725 sq ft flat in Mumbai's Khar West for her staff during Mannat's renovation. The flat costs Rs 1.35 lakh per month. Shah Rukh Khan's wife, Gauri Khan, has taken a flat on rent in Mumbai's Khar West for her staff to stay in while Mannat, the Khan family's iconic home, is getting renovated. The apartment is located in Pankaj Society, one of the city's well-known residential spots, and is just 100 metres from another duplex she has rented earlier. As per lease documents sourced via the flat is 725 sq ft and is on the 4th floor (Flat No. 6). It's been rented from Sanjay Kishor Ramani at Rs 1.35 lakh per month, with a security deposit of Rs 4.05 lakh. The agreement is for three years and includes a 5 per cent rent hike each year. In April, Gauri had also rented two duplexes in Khar's Pali Hill for Rs 8.67 crore for three years. Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan's Mumbai home, Mannat, is set to become even more lavish. According to reports, the iconic bungalow may soon have two more floors added to its existing structure. Mannat is a major landmark and a popular tourist stop in Mumbai. Known for its grandeur, the sea-facing bungalow is estimated to be worth around Rs 200 crore. According to reports, Gauri Khan has submitted a request to the coastal authorities to add two more floors to their current residence. While Mannat itself is a heritage bungalow built in 1914, the Khans also live in an adjoining six-storey modern building within the same complex. The new proposal aims to expand this structure to eight storeys. The estimated cost of the planned construction is a whopping Rs 225 crore, as per the report. In an earlier radio interview, SRK revealed that he purchased Mannat because his mother-in-law, Savita Chhibber found his initial place, a penthouse, very small. Shah Rukh Khan said, 'I am from Delhi. Delhiites are used to living in big houses. But in Mumbai, there is a concept of living in an apartment. Even if one is not rich in Delhi, he tries to buy a small bungalow." He continued, 'When I came to Mumbai, I lived in a small apartment with my wife Gauri. My mother-in-law used to say to me, 'How do you live in such a small house?'" Shah Rukh then said that when he saw Mannat, the first thing that struck his mind was that it resembled the houses in Delhi. 'I decided to buy Mannat on the spur of the moment," he said. Shah Rukh Khan bought Mannat around Gauri Khan's birthday in 2001 and took a huge loan from the bank to purchase the property. Due to a lack of funds, Gauri Khan herself designed the interiors of the house.
