Buffalo Trace Is Auctioning Off Coveted Pappy Van Winkle and More Whiskeys for Kentucky Storm Relief
Kentucky has been rocked by a series of floods and devastating storms over the past few months, including one flood that shut down the Buffalo Trace Distillery for a period of time. In order to raise money for relief efforts to help those affected by these natural disasters, the distillery is auctioning off some of its most popular and collectible whiskeys starting today, along with a few special experiences.
The initiative is called the Pour It Forward for Kentucky Charity Fundraiser, and it includes items donated by parent company Sazerac and some of its partners (the Van Winkle family, Chris and Morgane Stapleton, the PGA) to raise money for people impacted by the deadly tornado earlier this month and the severe flooding in April. The items are listed at the website BlockBar, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to benefit the American Red Cross and the Franklin County Flood Relief Fund held at the Blue Grass Community Foundation.

'The recent spring storms have had a profound impact on communities across Kentucky and, especially in times like these, it's essential that we rally people to support our neighbors in need,' said Jake Wenz, Sazerac and Buffalo Trace president and CEO, in a statement. 'Buffalo Trace remains committed to supporting our home state, and every bid placed is a step toward helping our community recover.'
There are some fantastic whiskeys up for auction, some of which are the most collectible and coveted bottles produced at the distillery. These include some real unicorns like Weller Millennium (a blend of whiskeys aged up to 25 years), Eagle Rare 25 (which originally retailed for $10,000), and O.F.C. Vintage 2005 (valuable, although maybe not as much as the older vintages). There are also some of the most popular Buffalo Trace whiskeys available in complete sets—Pappy Van Winkle, the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, the 2024 Prohibition Collection, and the entire E.H. Taylor Jr. lineup. A bottle of 20-year-old Double Eagle Very Rare is also available, and it comes with a coffee table made from a barrel used to age that whiskey.
It's not just bottles that are up for auction, however. There's the Sazerac Barrel Select experience, which includes a stay at the Stagg Lodge, a tour of the distillery, and a chance to pick a barrel of Blanton's Gold. Chris and Morgane Stapleton donated an Epiphone Hummingbird Studio guitar and a bottle of Chris's collab with Buffalo Trace, Traveller Whiskey, each emblazoned with an autograph. There's also a trip for two to Forth Worth, Texas, to visit the set where the Yellowstone spinoff Y: Marshals is being filmed. Finally, there are two ongoing sweepstakes: one for a chance to win a bottle of O.F.C. Vintage 2006, the other sponsored by the PGA for a chance to play golf at the PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass and a pair of Buffalo Trace Bettinardi golf putters.
The Pour It Forward for Kentucky auction starts today and will run through 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 5. Visit BlockBar now if you're interested; bids start at $100 for each lot with no reserves.

Dane Olesen, Chile's Del Solar share PGA Canadian Open lead
Chile's Cristobal Del Solar fired a nine-under par 61 to share the lead with Dane Thorbjorn Olesen after the first round of the US PGA Tour Canadian Open (Vaughn Ridley) Chilean Cristobal Del Solar flirted with the lowest round in US PGA Tour history before settling for a share of the lead after Thursday's opening round of the Canadian Open. Denmark's Thorbjorn Olesen and Del Solar each fired nine-under par 61 to seize the 18-hole lead at rain-softened TPC Toronto Osprey Valley. Advertisement Olesen, a back-nine starter, eagled the par-five 18th and birdied three of his last four holes -- from just inside 14 feet at seven and eight -- after only making the field as a Monday qualifier. "I played great, but my putting was exceptional," the Dane said. "Don't think I missed any putts really out there. I definitely holed some long ones as well. It was nice to see everything go in." Tour rookie Del Solar was 10-under through 16 holes but a bogey-par finish denied him a shot at the PGA record of 58. "I was actually having fun," Del Solar said. "One of the first few rounds of the year I've just let go and go out there and play golf. Advertisement "I wasn't really thinking much about the score, which that kind of led to a great score. I hit the ball great, putted it probably the best I have putted in a while. I did everything that should be done." Del Solar, ranked 316th in the world, had picked up the nickname "Mr. 57" after firing a 57 in February 2024 at Astra Championship in Colombia on the developmental Korn Ferry Tour -- the lowest-ever round in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event. The lowest score in a PGA Tour event is the 58 fired by American Jim Furyk in the final round of the 2016 Travelers Championship. For a moment on the final holes, Del Solar had a chance to match or lower that mark. Advertisement Del Solar had missed the cut in eight of his prior 13 US PGA starts this season, but took full advantage of soft conditions with birdie runs from the fifth through seventh and again at the ninth through 12th holes. The South American birdied from just beyond six feet at the par-three 14th and sank a 15-footer at the 16th to reach 10-under. At 17, Del Solar blasted out of a bunker to 10 feet but missed the putt and took his only bogey. Needing an eagle at the par-five 18th to break 60, he dropped his third shot 15 feet from the hole but missed the birdie putt. American Cameron Champ was third on 62 with countryman Jake Knapp on 63 and Ireland's Shane Lowry, Americans Trey Mullinax and Ricky Castillo and Dane Rasmus Hojgaard on 64. Advertisement Defending champion Robert MacIntyre of Scotland fired a bogey-free 65. - McIlroy opens on 71 - Second-ranked Rory McIlroy, who won the Masters in April to complete a career Grand Slam, closed with back-to-back bogeys a 71 in his first start since the PGA Championship as he prepares for next week's US Open at Oakmont. "I actually felt like I played OK," McIlroy said. "It was my first outing with a new driver and I felt like that went pretty well. I hit some drives I liked and that I liked to see, so that was encouraging. "Overall, I'm actually pretty happy with how I played. Obviously need to go a little bit lower tomorrow and over the weekend to have a chance. Advertisement "I'm still trying to work on some things, but I'm OK with where everything is." Luke Clanton, a 21-year-old American paired alongside McIlroy and Swede Ludvig Aberg, fired a 70 in his pro debut. "It's cool to be thrown in the fire right away," Clanton said. "It was awesome." js/bb

Winnebago shares tumble following preliminary Q3 results
-- Winnebago Industries (NYSE:WGO) stock fell sharply by 10% after the company released its preliminary third quarter fiscal 2025 results, which did not meet analysts' expectations. The leading outdoor lifestyle product manufacturer announced ahead of the Baird 2025 Global Consumer Technology & Services Conference that for the quarter ended May 31, 2025, it expects net revenues of approximately $775 million, with reported earnings per diluted share in the range of $0.55 to $0.65 and adjusted diluted earnings per share between $0.75 and $0.85. Analyst consensus had anticipated a higher Q3 EPS of $1.37 on revenue of $810.4 million. Winnebago's President and CEO Michael Happe attributed the weaker-than-expected performance to growing macroeconomic uncertainties that dampened consumer sentiment and led to a cautious dealer network, particularly in the final two months of the quarter. Happe noted that market pressures were most pronounced in the Winnebago Motorhomes business unit, prompting the company to take significant steps to manage inventory, align production with market demand, and prepare for a stronger product offering in the future. Despite the challenges in the motorhomes unit, Happe highlighted positive developments in other areas of the business. He pointed out that Grand Design Towables is gaining market share in the travel trailer segment, and the launch of the Grand Design Lineage series motorhome products is generating strong dealer and consumer demand. Furthermore, Newmar's Class A diesel market share has surpassed 30%, and the expansion of its product line-up is expected to bode well for the future. Additionally, the marine segment, including Barletta premium pontoons and Chris-Craft luxury runabouts, continues to see retail market share gains. Winnebago plans to update its full-year fiscal 2025 outlook during its third quarter fiscal 2025 financial results conference call scheduled for June 25, 2025. The company's leadership remains focused on managing the business proactively to generate profitable growth over the long term, despite the near-term challenges. A night at New York's biggest Switch 2 launch event
I'm standing outside the GameStop at Union Square in New York City on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon, with plenty of cars rolling by and people basking in the late spring sun. On the corner of E 14th Street and University Place, a line has formed around the block. Tonight is the official launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, a console people have been waiting for years to arrive. Some publications and influencers received theirs one day early, but for the rest of the world, tonight is the first opportunity to play it. And for a lot of the people in this line, that means they're willing to wait a little longer. By 7PM I've talked to plenty of people queued up, and the overwhelming sentiment is that everyone is excited for Mario Kart World. 'It's been forever since the last one,' Kyle and Andrea tell me. 'It only makes sense to get it now. Might as well.' The last version, Mario Kart 8, first launched in 2014 for the Wii U, eventually becoming Mario Kart 8 Deluxe when it launched on the Nintendo Switch. Mario Kart World is the first truly new console edition in a decade, and fans are eager to start playing. Chris has been waiting in line for about four hours and brought his own chair. He tells me that his friends have been working all day, so he's trying to hold them a spot. 'These are crazy hard to get. I don't have a lot to do today, so I'm gonna see if I can save a spot in line for them.' Finally, I find one fan who tells me he's excited for the Switch 2 because of its power. 'I had the Switch and then the Switch OLED, and I'm honestly pretty stoked to run this thing at 4k 60fps. It's a huge jump,' Anthony tells me. Inside the store, staff has been working since 11AM, pre-processing customers to make tonight's launch go smoothly. They take four people at a time from the line outside, check them out with consoles and accessories, and hand them a ticket with a number to come back and claim later. There are still a few hours to go, so most people are walking down the street to grab dinner or drinks. To tide over patient customers, GameStop has set up various stations. There's a body painter giving people Nintendo-themed paint-jobs, a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate set up, and, of course, Mario Kart. Kids flank the stations while their parents check out, and the store even lined up a DJ to keep people entertained. GameStop has completely outfitted the store with Mario -themed ornaments. There are full-sized cardboard cutouts of various characters spread throughout, and a map of Mario Kart World embedded into the floor. It's clear the retailer knew this would be a massive launch, and it decked out the store to help fans celebrate. Around 9PM, Doug Bowser, the CEO of Nintendo of America, makes a surprise appearance. Bowser talks to customers and recites a likely pre-scripted conversation with GameStop staff on camera which will probably appear in a LinkedIn post, then moves to the mural on the wall for a photo with employees. I asked Bowser what he was most excited for, and he blasts off a quick speech about Mario Kart. It's expected at this point — a theme of the night. People start merging back into the line at 11PM, now stretching down the block and around the corner. Earlier in the night, GamStop employees handed out raffle tickets for free games, and they start calling numbers for the winners. If you won, you were graced with a copy of Splatoon 3, a game not currently updated to take advantage of the Switch 2's superior hardware. At 11:55PM I head inside, alongside the first few customers awaiting the midnight release. Dawn is the first to receive his Switch 2 after waiting outside this GameStop since 4:17AM. 'I can't really believe I've been waiting this long, but it was worth it.' Everyone cheers and the line starts flowing faster. Crowds of people who didn't pre-pay for the console continue to show up and get in line. They'll probably be here until morning. I left the store about 30 minutes after release, wondering how many instances of anecdotal evidence it would take to make the console a success. But if this store is anything to go by, the Nintendo Switch 2 is already a hit.
