This isn't your average college football ranking.
My Ultimate 136 is a set of rankings that is fluid, but it's my job to look ahead and make a claim for all FBS teams based on what I know and why I know it. Here are the three pressing questions I started by asking when putting together this list:
Who do I think is good?
Why do I think they're good?
What are the chances they will finish above or below my expectations?
Here is a look at where Bowling Green lands in my Ultimate 136.
Bowling Green ranking: 117
Last year's ranking: 94
Top player: QB Drew Pyne: Went 8-2 as a starter for Notre Dame in 2022, throwing for 22 touchdowns; beat Oklahoma in his lone start for Missouri last season.
[Bowling Green's 2025 schedule]
RJ's take: If head coach Eddie George can flip the Falcons into a Mid-American Conference title contender, he'll get to add another title to his trophy cabinet: program builder. After two seasons at Tennessee State where he finished just 15-18, his Tigers put together a 9-4 record, got a share of the Ohio Valley Conference title and received their first invitation to the FCS playoffs in 2024.

What's more, George has brought many of the stars from that Tennessee State team with him to Bowling Green. George, who might be the only prominent skill player to raise a defensive tackle, boasts son Eriq George (12.5 tackles for loss) and cornerback Jalen McClendon (four interceptions) are coming with him from Nashville. Linebacker Gideon Lampron, who had 26.5 tackles for loss at Dayton, figures to put produce too.
Most eyes will be on former Notre Dame, Arizona State and Mizzou signal-caller Payne, however, who will have the most to say about how good BGSU can be in George's Year 1.

Bowling Green Win Total Odds: Over 6.5 (+198) Under 6.5 (-250)

Notre Dame CB Leonard Moore, LB Drayk Bowen named to 2025 Bednarik Award Watch List
1️⃣5️⃣3️⃣4️⃣Difference makers on defense 🔥☘️Leonard Moore and Drayk Bowen have been named to the Bednarik Award Watch List #GoIrish☘️ It's been a notable offseason for Notre Dame football when it comes to preseason accolades, and that continued when two more players were named to a notable watch list. Cornerback Leonard Moore and linebacker Drayk Bowen have been named to the 2025 Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List. The award honors the most outstanding defensive player in college football. The only former Fighting Irish player to win this award was linebacker Manti Te'o in 2012. Moore had a standout 2024 season, becoming the FWAA freshman defensive player of the year after replacing an injured Christian Gray and eventually an injured Ben Morrison in the starting lineup. In 10 starts, he recorded 48 tackles, 11 pass breakups and two forced fumbles. Meanwhile, Bowen started all 16 games last season and finished third on the team with 78 tackles, and he also led the team with three forced fumbles. He's a team leader as well as the most experienced linebacker on the roster. Notre Dame betting outlook - How much fight will the Irish have?
Yahoo Sports' Jason Fitz and senior sports betting analyst Ben Fawkes discuss how sportsbooks are viewing the Fighting Irish entering the 2025 season. View more Video Transcript The college football season is here, which means Notre Dame fans are already panicking. Cause all they can think about is losing the national championship game to Ohio State. Sorry, Notre Dame fans. All right, Ben, how's Vegas see the fighting Irish? Fighting Irish, uh, off of that college football playoff title game loss, still a lot of respect from Vegas oddsmakers, one of 4 teams with a win total of 10.5. The other 3 are in the Big Ten. Obviously, Notre Dame as an independent. No odds to win their conference, but 12 to 1 odds to win the national championship at Be Mjam, the eighth best among all teams. It's hard to ask this question because I'm gonna ask you for key games. And this is where Notre Dame fans roll their eyes because they know a tradition like no others, Marcus Freeman losing to somebody, they shouldn't lose to. Every year, but what is the key game that uh Vegas has their eye on for Notre Dame? Yeah, I mean, the opening game, right? They, they go to Miami, we always see this in the NFL as well, right? Early season games in Florida can be that humidity, can be a little tricky. They're a 2.5 point road favorite right now at Miami in week one. And then I believe week 3, they got Texas A&M, but it's a little interesting. They they're gonna be projected to be at least a touchdown favorite against Texas A&M at Arkansas. Boise State, I believe they're a 16-17 point favorite, and against USC and they close out against Stanford, which has a win total of 3.5, heavily juiced to the under. So if there, if there's a nice, uh, pillow landing there for the, uh, for the Fighting Irish, that's certainly it. So this is, you know, those are two really big games, Miami game and a Texas A&M. But to clear 10.5, they just have to have one loss, right? So as long as they only lose one game, they'll cash that over. This is always the trick for Notre Dame. I mean, new quarterback, obviously high expectations, but as we know, that schedule doesn't necessarily give them the grace to have any screwups along the way. So it'll be another angst-packed year for Fighting Irish fans everywhere. Close
