MSU football reportedly adds 3-star RB Jamal Rule for official visit next weekend
Michigan State football will reportedly host a three-star running back prospect from North Carolina next weekend.
Jason Killop of On3's SpartanMag is reporting that Michigan State will host three-star running back Jamal Rule of Charlotte next week for an official visit. According to 247Sports, Rule was originally slated to take an official visit to Boston College next weekend, but now will visit Michigan State instead starting on June 20.
Michigan State recently entered the mix on Rule's recruitment following previous running back targets going elsewhere. He picked up an offer from the Spartans earlier this week, and it appears there is mutual interest with Rule quickly scheduling an official visit to Michigan State.
Rule ranks as the No. 46 running back in 247Sports' composite rankings for the 2026 class. He is also listed as the No. 767 overall prospect in the class and holds a recruiting rating of 87.26 in the 247Sports composite system.
Rule holds offers from nearly 20 schools, according to 247Sports. Of those offers, it appears Nebraska, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Syracuse and NC State are the top competitors for Michigan State in landing Rule's commitment. He is currently on an official visit to Nebraska and visited Syracuse last weekend.

The class of 2026 recruiting class for the Michigan State Spartans is heavy on offense with only four of its 12 recruits playing on the defensive side of the ball. Michigan State's secondary coach Blue King/Lansing State Journal/USA TODAY NETWORK Amarion Queen, the 3-star cornerback from Martin County High School, posted to X with the news of the Spartans' interest after his conversation with secondary coach Blue Adams. Initially, Queen was committed to USF, but just recently reopened his commitment on June 7. Michigan State is one of the two top teams eyeing the cornerback. According to 247Sports Composite rankings, he's the No. 120 cornerback overall and No. 170 out of Florida. While these spots might not be impressive, Michigan State's defensive class of recruits is only slowly piecing together. Head coach Jonathan Smith's recruiting resume is also just starting to grow without suffering any decommitments. Advertisement Outside of cornerback, Queen also plays wide receiver at Martin County. He totaled 413 yards on 18 catches with five touchdowns. On the defensive end, he totaled 22 tackles, five pass break-ups, and three interceptions. Queen would be joining the other 3-star secondaries, K.J. Deriso, Eliyjah Caldwell-Hardy, and Brayden Thomas. It will be crucial for Smith and Adams to schedule a visit for Queen in East Lansing. Currently, the Spartans are up against Purdue, the other likely home for the cornerback. BELMONT - As Lexi Thompson's approach on 18 landed and found the green, Thompson did something she hadn't for most of her round - she smiled. It was a moment of triumph and relief for Thompson, who birdied 18 and had three birdies in her final four holes to pull within one shot of the lead heading into the weekend at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give at Blythefield Country Club. Advertisement Thompson, who birdied the first hole on Friday, June 13, had one bogey and 12 pars in the next 13 holes before finishing strong. She had a 3-under Friday and is at 7-under heading into the weekend one shot off the lead shared by four golfers. "I started off well, then kind of fizzled a little bit. I just tried to stay positive. I wanted to get seven birdie looks in the last seven holes, and unfortunately, they were longer looks than I wanted, but ended up with a few birdies coming in," Thompson said. "My first birdie coming in on 15, I ended up making a put off the collar that I wasn't really expecting, down the hill right to left. I was just trying to par, but I really just wanted to stay confident over the last couple of holes coming in. "There were a few par saves that were important to keep me in it. Just staying patient out there because it got really windy. You have to know birdie holes are out there." She finished second last year at 16-under. In the 10 Meijer LPGA Classics she has played in, she has finished second three times, in the top five a total of five times and in the top 10 six times. She finished 20th once (despite shooting 15-under), 41st (her first time at Blythefield) once and missed the cut once. No one has had that kind of extended success at Blythefield except Thompson, despite two wins for Brooke Henderson and a spectacular three-year stretch for Leona Maguire. Celine Boutier had a similar round with seven birdies and three bogies to finish 4-under for the day and 8-under for the tournament. Hye-Jin Choi was 4-under for the second day in a row to tie Ciganda and Boutier at 8-under. One afternoon player had a share of the lead as Karis Davidson shot a 2-under, with a birdie on 18, to share the lead at 8-under. Texas surging with elite edge Jamarion Carlton after recent visit Texas has picked a few huge commitments over the last week for their 2026 recruiting class as four-star defensive lineman Dylan Berymon and four-star defensive tackle Corey Wells made their pledges to the Longhorns. They have another blue-chipper in their sights as well and that's four-star edge Jamarion Carlton. The 6-foot-5, 240-pounder named Texas in his top five schools last week and also set a July 10 commitment date. Carlton was back in Austin last weekend to see the Longhorns, and he got to take in a bunch of what the program has to offer and what they have in store if he commits. "This official visit was amazing," Carlton told Rivals earlier this week. "Just to be able to chill with the players, get some good advice and then being able to know what plan they have for me. At Texas, the plan to develop me into reaching my highest potential as a player and as a person was great. The time with the players and the coaches was pretty fun." Carlton had a productive junior season for Temple High School. He amassed 57 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, five sacks, and a forced fumble. Rivals has Carlton ranked extremely high in their rankings. In addition to being the No. 46 overall prospect he's also the No. 4 edge rusher and the No. 4 recruit in the state of Texas. Texas Tech hosted Carlton at the end of April and LSU in May. He still has official visits to Texas A&M and Baylor before he commits, so last weekend was immensely important for Texas and their chances to land Carlton. After spending time with players on the Longhorns roster as well as edge coach LaAllan Clark, Carlton can envision himself playing in Austin. "I can see myself there," Carlton said. If Texas can snag Carlton, they'll inch closer toward a top 10 class for the 2026 cycle.
