Celebrations to get underway in York for City's longest serving player

OFF the pitch celebrations are being planned for a York City football legend.
York City footballer Paddy McLaughlin is celebrating ten years at the club, including two promotions and preparations are underway to honour his achievements.
Among them, former managers and players will speaking at a dinner to be held at The Milner Hotel close to York Station in York on Thursday, November 6.

York-based housebuilder Persimmon is sponsoring the event in partnership with mental health charity Menfulness who McLaughlin has chosen as his named charity for his testimonial year.
Scott Waters, regional managing director for Persimmon, said: 'As a proud sponsor of York City, we're delighted to support what I'm sure will be a fantastic evening here in York.
'It's great to bring people together to both recognise Patrick's service to York City and at the same time, raise funds for Menfulness, who do such brilliant work across the city.'
At the event 2012 promotion-winning manager Gary Mills and Captain Chris Smith will be joined by 2022 promotion-winner Matty Brown and the popular former City striker Clayton Donaldson.
Set up by five friends in 2016, Menfulness provides in-person and online support to men in the York area.
Menfulness runs a range of regular events and activities including football, running groups, walk and talk sessions as well as counselling via local therapy provider Serendipity.
Tickets are available now priced at £55, with tables of ten priced at £550.
The price includes a three-course meal, a welcome drink, tea and coffee and an evening of entertainment on a night to reminisce on McLaughlin's 10 years at the club, including his two promotions.

York City's Paddy McLaughlin Paddy is York's longest-serving player having made over 200 appearances with City, being involved in the 2012 play-off and Isuzu FA Trophy heroics, as well as the Minstermen's promotion from the Enterprise National League North in 2022.
The veteran midfielder has already had numerous events confirmed to celebrate his career with York, starting on Sunday, August 17, with Paddy and past and present teammates being hosted by York Hospital Ball at Haxby Social Club.
A Footgolf Family Day will follow on Sunday, August 31 from 10am until 2pm at York Footgolf, Shipton Road.
Paddy has previously told The Press he is 'overwhelmed by the support' shown by the club, ex-teammates and supporters for his testimonial year ahead.
'People have said a lot of nice things, and it's a strange feeling honestly, a strange experience, to have so many people saying so many nice things about you. It's been lovely.
'There will be members of the two promotion-winning teams and of the current squad down there at the foot golf event at the end of August, so it should be a good day.
'It's my tenth season at the club, and traditionally that's the milestone or the mark you have to hit to be offered the testimonial.'
