Firefighters battle overnight blaze at building in Wishaw
Firefighters have worked through the night tackling a blaze affecting a building in Wishaw. Emergency services were called to the scene at Belhaven Terrace at around 10:35pm on Sunday. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) sent six fire engines and specialist resources to the incident on Sunday evening. There were no reports of any casualties. There are no reports of any casualties and firefighters are expected to remain at the scene for some time. "Those living in the wider area should be vigilant and if you can see or smell smoke, take the same action."

Major incident: Firefighters continue to tackle heath blaze in 'ardorous' conditions
FIREFIGHTERS continue to tackle a major heath blaze which broke out over the weekend. Firefighters are said to be working in "arduous" conditions at Holt Heath, with multiple hotspots and flare-ups that are yet to be tackled. The fire first broke out on August 9 at 11am, with around 100 firefighters battling the blaze of approx. 1,000m x 800m near Wimborne. Fire crews had five pumping appliances, three small 4x4 vehicles, one water carrier and the Unimog in attendance initially and a further four appliances were requested. Crews in attendance were from Poole, Blandford, Wareham, Wimborne, Springbourne, Hamworthy, Salisbury and HIOWFRS crews from St Marys, New Milton and Eastleigh, Fordingbridge and Burley. Assistant Chief Fire Officer Darren Langdown said on Saturday: 'We have declared a major incident both due to the size of the fire at Holt Heath, and also the impact of this and Newton Heath on our overall availability of resources. 'We are extremely grateful to our neighbouring services for the support they are giving us, and I can only praise all of our staff who are working so hard in extremely arduous conditions to bring these fires under control.' Yellow heat health alert in place for Watford from today
Watford residents have been warned over heat-related risks in an alert starting today. The UK Health Security Agency has announced a yellow heat health alert for the East of England which is due to start at 12pm (August 11) and last until 6pm on August 13. It comes as the Met Office expects temperatures in Watford to reach 30C this afternoon and 33C on Tuesday. The warning also covers London, Yorkshire and the Humber, the East Midlands, the South East and South West. It means there could be a significant impact across health and social care services, including the potential for a rise in deaths, particularly among those aged 65 and over or with health Office meteorologist Tom Morgan said: '[There is] definitely a north-south split in the weather [on Monday]. 'Quite cloudy across Scotland, Northern Ireland and parts of northern England, the rain tending to come and go, but most persistent in western Scotland. 'Otherwise, England and Wales seeing mostly sunny skies, although there will be more in the way of high level cloud out there compared to on Sunday, so the sunshine [will be] hazy at times.'
