The U.S. Copyright Office director fired by the Trump administration sued President Donald Trump and other government officials on Thursday, arguing her firing was unconstitutional and should not be allowed to take effect. Shira Perlmutter said in the lawsuit that her termination by email on May 10 was "blatantly unlawful," and that only the U.S. Congress can remove her from office.The lawsuit, filed in Washington, D.C., federal district court, is the latest in a series of legal clashes between Trump and federal officials he has sought to fire since his inauguration in January.The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the complaint. A spokesperson for the Copyright Office and an attorney for Perlmutter declined to comment.On Thursday, the Supreme Court allowed Trump's firing of two Democratic members of federal labor boards to remain in effect while their legal challenges proceed in a dispute that tests the president's power over independent government agencies. The Copyright Office, a department of the Library of Congress, confirmed on May 12 that the administration had fired Perlmutter by email on May 10. Perlmutter's firing sparked a backlash from Democratic politicians, who said that Congress had "purposely insulated" the Copyright Office from politics.The lawsuit said that Perlmutter's firing came a day after the office released a report on the high-stakes intersection of artificial intelligence and copyright law. The office said in the report that technology companies' use of copyrighted works to train AI may not always be protected under U.S. law. Tech companies including OpenAI and Meta Platforms have told the office that being forced to pay copyright holders for their content could cripple the burgeoning U.S. AI industry.Perlmutter asked the court to block the Trump appointees from taking the acting positions and declare that she remains the Copyright Office's director. Eleven people died and 56 were injured in the incident. Siddaramaiah had on Sunday denied reports that the Congress high command had sought information from him regarding the stampede incident. According to sources, the four names recommended to the Governor for nominations to the Legislative Council, but reportedly withheld after directions from the party high command, is also likely to come up for discussions.

US President Donald Trump suggested that Greta Thunberg should take anger management classes. His remark came in response to a reporter asking Trump for a message for Thunberg, who claimed on Monday that she was kidnapped by the Israeli army on her way to giving aid to Gaza. She, along with other activists aboard the Freedom flotilla, was intercepted by the Israeli military while carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza. The boat named Madleen departed from Sicily in June earlier and had a cargo of formula, flour, rice, diapers, women's sanitary products and more. Greta posted a pre-recorded video on social media saying that she had been kidnapped in international waters by Israeli forces. 'If you see this video, we are being intercepted and kidnapped in international waters by the Israeli occupation forces, or forces that support Israel. I urge all my friends, family and comrades to put pressure on the Swedish government to release me and the others as soon as possible,' she said. Responding to the reporter on the question about Thunberg's claims of being kidnapped, Trump said, 'She is a strange person. She is a young, angry person, I don't know if it's real anger; it's hard to believe. She's certainly different. I think she has to go to an anger management class, that's my primary recommendation for her.' Further, Trump also reacted by saying that 'I think Israel has enough problems without kidnapping Greta Thunberg' In a statement issued on Monday, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition accused Israel of violating international law.
