Beirut-based arts organisation AFAC will host a special event in Riyadh as part of its ongoing efforts to connect with regional creative communities.
The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) will host an event in Riyadh on May 10th at Ahmed Mater Studio, bringing together artists and cultural practitioners for a focused gathering on contemporary creativity in the Arab world.
Headquartered in Beirut, AFAC was founded in 2007 and remains one of the region's leading organisations dedicated to supporting independent voices in film, visual arts, music, literature, performing arts, and cultural research. Through a combination of grants and regional partnerships, AFAC works to strengthen the infrastructure for artistic production across the Arab region.
While AFAC regularly holds events in cultural hubs such as Beirut, Amman, and Tunis, the upcoming gathering marks a valuable opportunity to connect directly with Saudi Arabia's growing creative scene.

The Program Will Support DFI's Series Program and Original Content Development in the Region DOHA, QATAR – August 2025 – Miramax, the award-winning global film and television studio owned by beIN MEDIA GROUP (beIN) and Paramount Global, announced today the DFI x Miramax Writer's Program, a major partnership with Doha Film Institute (DFI) aimed at supporting the development of premium, local Arabic-language content across the Middle East and North Africa. The program will provide training, mentorship, and production and distribution resources for both emerging and established Arab writers, offering critical support for their projects, contributing to the expansion of the region's series content output, and strengthening Qatar's position as a leading media hub in the Middle East. The DFI x Miramax Writer's Program will involve the selection of up to five local and regional projects to develop each year. The Writer's Program will tie into DFI's existing Series Programs, with the goal of extending the reach and impact of these initiatives. The collaboration between Miramax, renowned for its film & television productions, and DFI, the leading film institute in the Middle East, addresses a key gap in the region's media industry by offering not only development support but also direct access to Miramax's vast distribution and sales network to reach audiences worldwide. Yara Sameh Egyptian actress Ghada Adel will be honored at the opening ceremony of the 3rd edition of the Hurghada International Youth Film Festival, slated to run from September 25 to 30. Adel will be feted for her rich career as well as her contribution to the Egyptian and Arab film industry. Founded in September 2023, the festival, organized by the Fnon Foundation for Culture and Media, is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Red Sea Governorate, the Tourism Promotion Authority, the Syndicate of Cinematic Professions, and the General Union of Arab Artists, in partnership with several entities. It aims to promote and spread cinematic awareness and culture, promote Egyptian cinema, and support films made by young people, and also films that deal with youth issues in Egypt and the whole world, as well as introduce cinematic works from different countries around the world. Born on December 25, 1974, Adel began her professional career in television commercials. Her journey has been a diverse one, ranging from acting, presenting, singing on stage, and television to the silver screen. Adel had partaken in the play 'Al Abanda' and the 'Abyad wa Iswid' (Black and White) trivia show. Aug 18, 2025 The Cairo International Arab Children Festival has announced that its upcoming third edition in November will honour the late poet, lyricist, and cartoonist Salah Jahin as this year's 'Personality of the Year'. The announcement, made by the festival's founder and chair Dr. Dalia Hammam, emphasised Jahin's lasting impact on the imaginations and values of young Arab audiences. Dr. Hammam highlighted how Jahin's work, as a poet, lyricist, playwright, and cartoonist, struck a rare balance between playfulness and depth. 'Jahin offered children works rich in joy and knowledge,' she added, pointing to his unique ability to engage young hearts without compromising artistic integrity. Salah Jahin, born in 1930, is widely regarded as one of Egypt's most influential poets, lyricists, and cartoonists. His work spans children's literature, theatre, and television, with a legacy that includes beloved puppet operettas and songs that have become part of Egyptian cultural memory. The Cairo International Children's Art Festival kicks off its third edition on Tuesday, August 12th 2025, at Cairo Opera House.
