Work set to begin on Route 28 ramp to Route 8 next week
"I do hair in the neighborhood, and so many of my clients bike through that intersection to get on the trail or the 40th Street Bridge,"
Haley Ostendorf, a resident and business owner in this community, said. "It's really messy, I'm glad they're closing it."
Reconstruction work on the ramp in Shaler Township and Sharpsburg borough will close to traffic around the clock until July 31.
Ostendorf feels this is needed: "I hope it's better for Millvale and everyone that's trying to get on the trail."
The work that will be done to improve the area includes, barrier to separate travel lanes, pavement restoration, sign and signal upgrades, also ADA curb ramp updates.
Ostendorf says she understands that it may impact her client's getting to their appointments, but she says it's for the greater good, "As long as it's safe for everyone."

The five-year, estimated $400 million project will include replacing three bridges at the I-195/Route 18 interchange (I-195 east- and westbound, ramps from I-195 to Route 18); widening and reconstructing I-195 from Mount Pleasant Street to North Front Street to improve ramp safety; outside barrier and median replacement of three bridges (I-195 over North Front Street, Belleville Avenue and Acushnet River); and resurfacing and/or reconstructing Cedar Grove, Purchase, County, Penniman, Kenyon, State (roadway and sidewalk with accessibility upgrades). The project also includes developing a landscaped park within the interchange and under the bridge, with a shared-use path, skate park and the parking lot. An approximately 35-foot-high retaining wall with noise barrier will be erected along Cedar Grove Street. It will begin on I-195 westbound at Purchase Street and will end at I-195 westbound at Mt. Pump the Brakes on E-Bikes
I applaud the efforts in New York City to adopt an e-bike speed limit of 15 miles per hour, paralleling safety actions abroad ('New York Has a New E-Bike Speed Limit—and Can't Enforce It,' Page One, Aug. 8). Scientific literature from Europe, Asia and the Middle East documents the severe neurosurgical, orthopedic, maxillofacial and other traumatic injuries associated with the higher rate of speed for e-bikes compared to traditional pedal bicycles. The U.S. should learn from this experience and spare the public repeated tragedies. New York can continue to lead the way by implementing new requirements for licensure and registration for those e-bikes that travel at higher speeds more closely resembling mopeds and motorcycles. This will enable law enforcement to identify these vehicles in traffic flow and restrict their use to the roadway instead of bike lanes and sidewalks, where they are more likely to collide with pedestrians in densely populated areas.

Citroen airbag recall extended as more motorists told to stop driving
Motorists of several more Citroen car models have been ordered to stop driving their cars over a potentially dangerous airbag fault. Citroen has announced an extension of its 'stop-drive' airbag campaign to C4, DS4 and DS5 models. The recall was announced earlier this year, after a report stated that a woman sustained fatal injuries caused by an airbag in a 2014 Citroen C3 in Reims, France last year. This resulted in C3s produced from 2009 to 2016 and DS3s made from 2016 to 2019 being recalled over the issue. The recall now affects C4 models built between 2010 and 2011, DS4s from 2010 and 2011 and DS5s produced from 2010 and 2013, resulting in 9,968 vehicles across the UK. A Citroen spokesperson told the PA News Agency: 'To date, more than 66,000 vehicles have had their new replacement airbags fitted. "We forecast that the majority of customer vehicles will have their new replacement airbags fitted by the end of September, with the remaining cases handled as swiftly as possible within the coming weeks." They added: "In addition, Stellantis has proactively decided to expand the stop-drive to include additional Citroen C4 (2010-2011), DS4 (2010-2011), and DS5 (2010-2013) vehicles. In the UK, this amounts to an additional 9,968 vehicles." The UK's Road Maintenance System Earlier this month consumer site Which? called for compensation for those affected, as second hand car dealers were also warned to stop selling Citroen's that fell under the warning.
