Prince Harry to miss out on son Archie's birthday for Las Vegas trip in honour of Diana

Daily Mirror30-04-2025

The Duke is set to miss out on his son Prince Archie's special day when he turns 6 on May 6 - but it's all for a very important reason, as he honours his late mother, Princess Diana
Prince Harry loves nothing more than being a dad to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet - but he is set to miss out on a major milestone next month as he honours his late mother, Princess Diana.
On May 6, Harry and Meghan's son Archie will celebrate his 6th birthday. But his father will be away from the family home and instead he will be in Las Vegas to launch a new youth initiative with the Diana Award.

Given that Archie's special day falls on a Tuesday - and he will likely be at school - Harry and Meghan will likely hold a weekend celebration instead. And the Duke will no doubt make sure he FaceTime his son to mark the occasion.

Harry is heading to Vegas to launch the Pledge To Invest drive, which aims to put a spotlight on the future of youth leadership and how forward-thinking businesses can support it. He will meet with two young people, who are holders of The Legacy Award in memory of his late mother - Sikander 'Sonny' Khan, from Michigan in the US, and Christina Williams, from Jamaica.
Sikander works in artificial intelligence at Microsoft and also heads up the Paani Project, an organisation that supports diverse humanitarian efforts in Pakistan, including the construction of over 20,000 wells. Christina, meanwhile, is an attorney and advocate from Jamaica who champions youth empowerment and marginalised groups' equitable access to education, healthcare and technology.
Harry will also be joined by Paul Fippsat, President of Global Customer Operations at ServiceNow, at the event, which is being hosted by Dr Tessy Ojo, the CEO of the Diana Award.
Dr Ojo said: "Companies that invest in youth leadership today are cultivating the workforce, innovators and consumers of tomorrow.
"The Diana Award is proud to launch Pledge To Invest - an opportunity for forward-thinking businesses to make a strategic, measurable and high-impact investment in the future of youth leadership.
"For over 25 years, The Diana Award has invested in young people, empowering them to tackle the pressing issues of our time." Mr Fipps, meanwhile, said he is "proud to partner with Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and The Diana Award to provide a platform that encourages other business leaders to invest in young people".

The Diana Award is an international award that honours young people who work to improve the lives of others. The award was launched in 1999 by the former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown in honour of the late Princess.
Both Harry and his brother Prince William regularly attend Diana Awards events. In March this year, the future King attended the awards ceremony at the Science Museum in London.
In his touching speech, William spoke of remembering his mother through the work he and his wife Princess Kate are committed to. He said, "She taught me that everyone has the potential to give something back; that everyone in need deserves a supporting hand in life.

"That legacy is something that both Catherine and I have sought to focus on through our work, as have the 50,000 young people who have received a Diana Award over the past 25 years.
"I am so proud to see this belief of my mother's manifested in the amazing young people receiving the Legacy Award tonight."
Shortly after William's speech, Harry also made a virtual appearance at the awards from his home in California. He spoke with the award recipients, virtually, to celebrate their accomplishments. Notably, Prince William departed before his brother's appearance.

Palace insider 'rages' at Harry and Meghan as move 'spelled disaster' for Queen

A Palace insider has reportedly called out Meghan and Harry over one awkward decision they made while distancing themselves from royal life. It allegedly 'spelled disaster' for the late Queen Meghan Markle and Prince Harry sent shockwaves across the world when they stepped down from royal duties five years ago, and a Palace insider was said to be left 'raging' at one aspect of their departure. When the couple first announced their desire to represent the crown on a part-time basis - while working towards being "financially independent" - royal watchers were stunned. ‌ And within the House of Windsor, a sense of impending "disaster" quickly settled, with a royal source claiming that one particular world in Harry and Meghan's sensational statement left insiders reeling. ‌ The couple made it clear that they never wanted to fully break away from the monarchy, but instead "carve out a progressive new role within this institution". In their initial statement, the Sussexes added: "We will continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties." But it was the use of the word "collaborate" that caused deep concern. The monarchy is, by definition, an inherently hierarchical institution. Only one person wears the crown, and the rest of the senior royals work to support the monarch - so the idea that there would be a collaboration of some kind left one Palace insider baffled, and 'raging'. "No one 'collaborates' with the Queen. This is not one of those 'Kate Moss Top Shop tie-ups'," the source told the Daily Mail. Another said, "Her Late Majesty was nobody's fool and knew that the chances were, it would all end in disaster". Meghan and Harry have gone on to embark on a number of high-profile professional endeavours, as they fund their own lives in California - including incredibly expensive private security and running their Montecito mansion. The couple produced a six-part self-titled documentary series for Netflix, during which they retreaded old ground about their reasons for exiting royal life, and provided never-before-seen insight into their love story, to the delight of their fans. ‌ Harry's memoir Spare broke records upon its release in 2023 and gave readers a behind-closed-doors look at what life growing up inside the monarchy is really like, warts and all - at least from Harry's perspective. Both of these high-profile - and incredibly candid projects - were not received well at the palace, with Prince William now totally estranged from his once-close younger brother, and King Charles - by Harry's own admission - refusing to speak to his son due to the Duke's ongoing legal battle of the removal of his automatic police security in the UK. Most recently, Meghan has stepped into the lifestyle world, launching a new series about hosting tips entitled With Love, Meghan and an accompanying brand - As Ever. ‌ She has also returned to Instagram, having given up her personal online accounts back when her relationship with Harry got serious and she planning to spend a lifetime as a working royal. Since returning to social media, Meghan has not been afraid to show her personality and some aspects of her private life - including recently posting a video of herself dancing around a hospital room the day she went into labour with her daughter Princess Lilibet. ‌ "Four years ago today, this also happened," she captioned the post marking her daughter's birthday. "Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work – there was only one thing left to do!" In response to the clip, a source quoted as a palace insider told the Mail: "This is exactly why Queen Elizabeth knew this whole half-in, half-out version of royalty they were lobbying for was never, ever going to work. "Harry and Meghan were a law unto themselves from the start, pushing and pushing the envelope to their own professional and financial advantage."

Kids and teens can get free theatre tickets all summer as London Kids Week booking opens for 2025

The school summer holidays are famously a nightmarish month-and-a-half of trying to amuse children unaware of the fact that you're desperately trying to keep them entertained during a break that is longer than all your annual leave put together. Still, there are some bright spots, especially living in London, and a big one is London Kids Week. Run by the Society of London Theatre, it's nothing so vulgar as 'a sale', but is rather an initiative to get children into a theatre during the school hols by offering under-18s free tickets when accompanied by a paying adult. In addition, up to two further children's tickets can be booked at half price by the same adult. It's a damn good deal with no real catch (there isn't even a booking fee), beyond the fact that inventory is limited, although rarely massively so. Get in early, though, and you might be able to snag (free) tickets to one of the special workshops or other activities laid on as part of the 'week', which you can book for now and runs the length of the summer hols, from July 21 to August 31 (a strange definition of 'week' but whatever). It's always a good showing and runs the gamut from full on kids' theatre like The Smeds and the Smoos and The Tiger Who Came to Tea – clearly aimed at younger audiences – to much more adult fare like Stranger Things: The First Shadow and the Rachel Zegler-starring Evita that will theoretically allow you to impress teens at an affordable price. To book, and for the full list of shows – which includes the liked of Wicked, Tina and Mamma Mia! – head over to here to book. The best kids' theatre in London.

It's good to see parents on Love Island this year – but why are we treating mums differently to dads?

Love Island star Huda's love interest was visibly shocked when she told him she had a daughter unjust It's good to see parents on Love Island this year – but why are we treating mums differently to dads? THIS year, Love Island, both in the UK and US, has done something a little different to its normal proceedings, and recruited people with children to star on the show. On the US version, Huda is a mum to a little girl, and over in the UK we're set to meet new bombshell Shea, who has a son from a previous relationship. 8 This year, Love Island, both in the UK and US, has done something a little different to its normal proceedings, and recruited people with children to star on the show Credit: Ben Symons/Peacock 8 Bombshell Shea is dad to a little boy 8 Huda has been getting to know Jeremiah Credit: Kim Nunneley/Peacock 8 Shea has been praised for being a dad looking for love While both are parents, there is a stark difference between them - and that, sadly, is the way their news has been received. Have YOU got a story or an amazing picture or video? Email exclusive@ and you could even get PAID Before the US season got under way, internet detectives had discovered Huda was a mum, and they immediately feared for her. 'Why do I feel like the guys are gonna be d**** about this,' wrote one fan, while another responded, saying: 'It wouldn't be a surprise unfortunately.' The general consensus amongst Love Island fans being that Huda's revelation would leave the men running for the hills, instead of treating her the same as any other woman on the show. Then fears became reality, as Huda decided to tell love interest Jeremiah that she had a four-year-old daughter. 'I wanted to be honest with you,' she began, adding: 'I really trusted and liked you, and I am a mum.' Jeremiah then throws his head back and fails to hide his shocked reaction: 'You're a mum, and you're 24?' he says, weirdly emphasising her age, as if women of 24 shouldn't have children. Huda is then forced to reassure him that she only has the one child, and Jeremiah tells her he can't look at her. The scene left US Love Island fans horrified, with many telling Huda to 'run,' as well as calling out Jeremiah for his 'red flag' behaviour. Others defended him, saying it must've come as a big shock, and that taking on a child is a huge responsibility, the latter of which no-one is denying. New Love Island bombshell reveals he's a dad as he sets his sights on breaking up villa couples But it's just a massive shame that Huda's first attempt at telling someone she likes on the show that she's a mum, is met with such shock and, dare I say it, disgust. Fans noticed that Huda was visibly afraid to tell him the news, struggling to get her words out, almost as if she was worried that being a mum would push him away. She even ended up saying things like she's 'not ashamed of it at all,' and was 'worried about how he'd react.' Huda took her time telling Jeremiah that she was a mum, four episodes in fact, because of the reaction she'd had from other men in the past. And yet, when UK Love Island bombshell Shea was revealed as having a son, the reaction couldn't have been better. Beneath TikTok videos of Shea being a dad, fans said how 'cute' it was, and praised the star for 'doing the show for his baby.' The comments section on X, TikTok and Instagram has been flooded with positivity about Shea being a dad, especially as he says in his pre-Love Island interview: 'Also, I have a little boy, so I'll be taking him into consideration with who I couple up with, too.' The news has been so well-received, with fans praising the star for thinking about his son when it comes to picking which girl he'll couple up with. But for Huda? Just negativity, fears and a reaction that's enough to put anyone off telling someone that they're a mum ever again. As a mum myself, it makes me so sad to see. Why is there such an obvious split between the way both Huda and Shea have been treated when revealing that they're parents? It's a great move from Love Island to have parents on the show, and really widens the representation. But we've still got a way to go in changing perception when it comes to single mums looking for love. Jeremiah isn't the sole problem, he's well within his right to be surprised, as the revelation had been kept a secret from him for some time. But he is a part of the wider issue of women being afraid to admit they've got kids while dating. You might not be ready to be a step-dad and that's fair enough, but is there a world where people learn to react in a manner that doesn't portray pure horror? A world where people consider the feelings of the person telling them, and not just themselves. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but what I will say is seeing parents on Love Island really does highlight that we have a huge way to go in the way that the world views mums looking for love versus dads. We need to do better. Much better. 8 Huda has a four-year-old daughter with her ex Credit: Instagram/mrpreshaa 8 Fans begged Huda to 'run' after she revealed news she was a parent Credit: Instagram 8 Jeremiah was left visibly shocked by the news Credit: Instagram
