Cattle thief caught selling MDMA in Mangaluru
Mangaluru: An alleged cattle thief, who was on the run for nearly two years, was arrested by Mangaluru CCB police on charges of selling MDMA. The accused is Abdul Kabir alias Parivala Kabir, 36, from Kasaba Bengre, Mangaluru. Police seized 12.1 grams of MDMA from his possession. Acting on a tip-off that MDMA was being brought from Bengaluru and Mumbai to Mangaluru and sold to the public and students in a white car near Mudipu Kambala Padavu KIADB Road, CCB police launched an operation on Thursday and intercepted the vehicle while the suspect was attempting to sell the drug. Police recovered MDMA worth Rs 1.2 lakh, a digital weighing scale, a mobile phone, and a car from his possession. The total value of the seized assets is estimated at Rs 4.3 lakh. A case was registered at Konaje police station. The accused, Abdul Kabir, is a habitual offender with over 15 cases of cattle theft registered against him in various police stations, including Panambur, Mangaluru South, Mangaluru North, Mangaluru East, Kankanady Town, Ullal, Bajpe, and Uppinangady in Dakshina Kannada district, as well as Madikeri Rural police station in Kodagu district. He obtained bail in many of these cases but was absconding for nearly two years.

Rs 10 lakh postal money robbery case: Employee among four accused, 1 held
1 2 Dibrugarh: Sivasagar police on Friday arrested a suspect and identified three others in a case where Rs 10 lakh was looted from a postal department employee in broad daylight. One of the identified suspects is a postal employee, who allegedly provided crucial information to the perpetrators. The incident occurred on Thursday around 11.45 am, when two assailants on a motorcycle attacked Bipul Dutta at Raichai in Demow, while he was transporting cash from the Head Post Office in Sivasagar to Nitaipukhuri sub-post office. The robbers snatched the money and assaulted Dutta, breaking his teeth. Addressing the media, Sivasagar additional SP (Crime) Moidul Islam said, "The police have cracked the snatching case of Rs 10 lakh from a postal department employee in Sivasagar within 24 hours," Islam said. The swift police response involved a comprehensive investigation that relied heavily on CCTV footage analysis. Through meticulous examination of surveillance cameras, investigators were able to identify and arrest one Tultul Duwari. Duwari's confession proved instrumental in unravelling the entire conspiracy.
