Eastern Accents Announces Exclusive Coastal Collaboration with Barclay Butera

In the midst of summer, it's the right time to bring in natural light, coastal colors, and fresh, cool materials. One Chicago-based brand has the perfect collection for this. Eastern Accents, known for their American-made quality, has been a leader in soft home furnishings for over 30 years, consistently setting trends in the luxury bedding market.
For a bright, summery collection, they've partnered with renowned interior designer Barclay Butera. Drawing inspiration from the elegance and breathtaking colors of Barclay Butera's native Newport Beach, California, this collection captures coastal beauty and brings it effortlessly into the home environment.
Eastern Accents and Barclay Butera's Corona del Mar bedding collection is a testament to coastal living at its finest. We met with these expert designers to get an inside look at this collection and how it came together to celebrate design, texture, and California living.
Behind the Design: Barclay Butera
Nestled along the stunning shores of Newport Beach lies the inspiration behind this coastal bedding collection: Corona Del Mar. The heart of this collection is the beautiful shades of blue, green, and white as well as the luxurious fabrics in the mohair and embroidered cottons that reflect the laid-back yet sophisticated spirit of the seaside.
Drawing inspiration from his coastal upbringing in California, Barclay Butera infuses his designs with a sense of elegance and relaxed luxury. Butera, now a renowned interior designer, launched his firm in 1994 after growing up, inspired by his mother's work as a designer. This collection isn't the first time Butera has partnered with Eastern Accents; the two have been working together on numerous projects over the last decade, always with a shared passion for timeless, high-quality design.
From chic beachfront retreats to opulent urban residences, Butera's portfolio showcases his unwavering commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. He brings his unique aesthetic - inspired by blue and white antiques, old Hollywood chic, and serene shorelines - to any of his luxury bedding pieces.
This collection, Corona del Mar, was no different.
Butera has been influenced by California's beautiful nature across his various looks. 'California living is all about indoor-outdoor flow, relaxed luxury, and effortless elegance,' he explains. 'The natural landscapes, from the beaches to the desert, inspire my use of color, texture, and light.'
The goal for Corona del Mar, the team explains, was to create a palette that echoes the serene hues of the seaside, pulling beautiful and timeless blues, greens, and whites from the sea. With this vision, every piece tells a coastal story that's both contemporary and deeply connected to tradition.
With luxurious fabrics, soothing coastal hues, and seaside elegance, Corona Del Mar offers luxurious coastal allure that evokes the essence of a breezy summer retreat.
The Collection: Corona del Mar
With attention to detail in mind, Corona Del Mar features a harmonious blend of luxurious fabrics, each chosen to ensure both comfort and style to this coastal bedding collection.
One of the signature fabrics featured in this collection is Eastern Accents' Bach. In emerald, this fabric is a rich green mohair used on throw pillows. The team explains that the mohair was chosen to bring an opulent shine and smooth finish to the collection. Emulating soft nature, tranquility, and sea grass, it blends with this cool collection seamlessly.
Contrasting the mohair is a breathable 200 thread count percale sheet set using Egyptian cotton. Cool and crisp, it brings in a fresh coastal breeze to the bedding. Percale, the team reveals, is known for its breathable, light quality. It's an ideal sheeting for warmer climates and sleepers, as well as being durably strong. In line with this beachy bedding, this makes it an ideal choice for summer beds, vacation homes, or anyone who prefers a cooler sleep.
The star of this collection is the azure bed scarf and throw pillows which feature an embroidered geometric pattern. The team explains that this Esha Azure fabric is embroidered in India with a handcrafted look to it.
Using embroidered fabrics infuses the bedding with intricate patterns and textures, transforming simple fabrics into works of art. It makes for a unique and detailed statement piece that sets this collection apart. The embroidered details tie in the rest of the coastal colors and add an organic texture to the whole set.
Along with Corona Del Mar's green mohair throw pillow, other throw pillows include a deep blue and white brush fringe detail adding a soft and deep detail to the side edges.
The designers explain that adding trim and embroidered fabrics to their bedding collections and throw pillows adds extra depth and luxurious texture. The tassel fringe and brush fringe add to the global style with their color story and texture.
Perfect for summer nights and coastal homes, this California-inspired bedding collection was tailor made for this season. Barclay Butera's coastal motifs paired with Eastern Accents signature fabrics make this summer specialty come to life.
Crafted with the beach in mind, this collection lets you bring a bit of Newport into your room. Whether you're drawn to its rich, natural colors, organic textures, or breathable fabrics, this exciting collaboration creates the ideal summer bedding.

Dachshund Dad Looks Overwhelmed Surrounded by New Puppies

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A male miniature dachshund has become an unlikely online symbol of fatherhood fatigue after a TikTok video showing him overwhelmed with his energetic puppies went viral. The cream-colored dachshund, named Dexter, was captured standing still, his eyes wide and his expression blank as several puppies clambered over one another nearby. Several viewers have likened the seemingly exhausted dachshund's state to how many overwhelmed parents feel. Nicole Kohanski, founder of a Texas-based dog behavior and training company, told Newsweek that some dogs do indeed find parenting stressful. "I can say with certainty, because I have seen it firsthand, that some dogs love to be a mom and some find it stressful," Kohanski said. "We had one mom refuse to mother her puppies unless a trusted human was with her. "It was as if she felt like her puppies were scary to her and she needed emotional support to be with them, while another dog we whelped was in love with mothering," Kohanski added. In Dexter's case, a lighthearted text on the video provided more context: "When you realize that your actions have consequences," while the caption read: "Dad life ain't for him." The short clip had been shared under @whyamilikethiw on June 23 and has been viewed more than 1.3 million times to date, inviting a flurry of amused comments as a result. The video has left TikTok users in stitches, with many interpreting the dog's frozen demeanor as the canine equivalent of paternal regret. The brief but striking scene left some viewers projecting human emotions onto the canine's bewildered face. "The consequences of parenthood are universal," one viewer said. "Can we go back to days when we were young," another added. "I think he wants to pay child support," a third viewer said. "He's like: Is there a 30 day return policy," one comment read. "He's having flash backs going 'we're those 30 seconds really that worth it'," another said. "The cutest consequences though," a third added. "I literally laughed out loud at this because my dachshund dad did the same thing and was petrified of his kids," one viewer said. "He got over it soon enough." "I don't think he likes it in there," another added. Newsweek reached out to @whyamilikethiw for more information via TikTok. Fever's Sophie Cunningham turns heads with 'hot girls' message before game

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham made another fashion statement before the team's win over the Chicago Sky on Sunday afternoon. Cunningham walked into the United Center for the game with a message emblazoned across her T-shirt. "Hot Girls Eat Arby's," the message read. She wore black leather shorts to go along with her outfit. It's far from the first time that Cunningham has gone viral for some of the outfits she has worn on gameday. Going back to her days with the Phoenix Mercury, Cunningham was turning heads and making basketball followers give her a second look. "I do think it's super cool that people are interested in what we do off the court now," she told Fox News Digital last September. "Our tunnel fits have been a fashion show, and people are so excited and intrigued about what we're going to wear." More importantly for Cunningham and the Fever, Indiana won the game 93-78. Cunningham started the game and played for 31 minutes. She scored five points, had two steals and one rebound as the Fever improved to 14-12. Kelsey Mitchell broke out with 35 points on 12-of-19 from the floor. Indiana has been without Caitlin Clark since before the All-Star break. Clark has been dealing with a groin injury with no timetable for her return. The Fever are in the middle of the pack in the standings. They are one game behind the Seattle Storm for fifth place.

The 16 Best Slasher Movies Ever Made, from ‘Candyman' to ‘Psycho'

[Editor's note: this list was originally published in October 2022. It has since been updated with new entries.] Slasher movies are generally considered to be among the more disreputable horror film subgenres. They can be misogynistic, punishing women for their sexuality while also appealing to viewers' most prurient, voyeuristic impulses: celebrating the male gaze while damning the objects of that gaze except for a virginal 'Final Girl.' But slasher movies can veer the closest to true-crime of any of the horror subgenres, meaning that its issues of representation often say as much about an audience that wants to consume beastly criminality as packaged narrative, as it does the filmmakers who deliver them to us. More from IndieWire Jennifer Love Hewitt on Horror Comeback: 'I'm There for the Moms' 'Jimmy & Stiggs' vs. the Gore Wars - Eli Roth Backs Joe Begos and Neon Aliens as His Answer to 'Terrifier 3' Jason Blum on Those Big Budgets for Horror Movies and Why 'Sinners' Is the Exception to the Rule The best slasher movies are as idea-oriented as any horror films. And almost all force you to look within and ask yourself: what's the line between you watching a horrific act… and finally looking away? The genre as we know it was birthed in the mid-'70s from American filmmakers like Tobe Hooper and John Carpenter, who broke new ground and introduced classic horror villains with films like 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' and 'Halloween.' But its roots stretch back to formative '40s films like 'The Lodger' or 'The Leopard Man,' which introduced the concept of a silent stalker into horror filmmaking. The giallo wave of the late '60s and '70s in Italy, lead by auteurs like Dario Argento and Mario Bava, proved key foundational texts for the slashers to follow, frightening audiences with unseen murderers in tight black gloves and elaborate, gruesome murder scenes that pushed boundaries for gore in cinema. From the grungy, indie films of the '70s that birthed the genre, slashers have since become arguably the most mainstream of mainstream horror. In the '80s and '90s, movies like 'Chucky' and 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' kept the genre alive, while 'Scream' introduced a self-referential streak that many lesser entries into the canon still attempt to emulate. While today's discourse in the genre tends to be dominated by 'elevated' horror like your 'Hereditarys' or 'The Babadooks,' slashers remain the gateway that can turn a horror skeptic into a foaming-at-the-mouth fan. IndieWire is revisiting our list of the best slashers ever made to provide a guide to whatever horror film marathon you have going on this spooky season.
