Unoccupied car found in embankment in Austell, driver charged

The Austell Police Department is investigating a car being found in an embankment in a river.
Police say around 7:45 p.m., they responded to an accident at 131 Maxham Road.
Officers received a 911 call informing them a vehicle had left the roadway and was down an embankment in the river.

When they arrived on scene, they traveled down the 50-foot embankment to attempt to rescue someone who may have been inside of the car.
Once they made it to the vehicle, they found the car unoccupied. Officers secured the scene and ensured it was safe.
Shortly thereafter, officers conducted a thorough investigation which led to the identification of the driver.

The front of the vehicle continued into a bean field, with the rear of the vehicle re-entering the road and coming to a rest, the spokesperson said. Medics transported the 30-year-old driver, Kyle Lecompte, to an area hospital with minor injuries. The sheriff's office said that Lecompte showed signs of alcohol impairment. Deputies cited him for OVI and failure to control a motor vehicle, the spokesman stated. The crash remains under investigation. A man is dead after a motorcycle crash in Greene County early Thursday morning. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] State troopers from the Xenia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) responded at 1:22 a.m. to Barber Road and Riva Trace Drive in Cedarville Township on reports of a motorcycle crash, according to an OSHP spokesperson. The man has been identified as Randall Straw, 68, of Cedarville. The motorcycle overturned and traveled off the left side of the road. Straw was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene, the spokesperson said. Dunwoody officer shoots Perimeter Mall burglary suspect after brief chase

Dunwoody police says one of its officers shot a burglary suspect who broke into the Perimeter Mall. We're LIVE at the scene with the latest on Channel 2 Action News This Morning. Sgt. Michael Cheek with Dunwoody police told Channel 2 Action News that officers responded to a burglary call at the mall early Thursday morning. When officers arrived, several suspects took off in a car and started a brief chase that ended across the street on Perimeter Center East. Dunwoody police said officers confronted the suspects and that is when shots were fired. One of the suspects was shot. The suspects took off in the vehicle and crashed down the road. Police are currently searching for the suspects who took off. Brookhaven police are also on scene assisting with the search, according to a Brookhaven PD spokesperson.
