When superheroes swap capes for fabulous designs, the results are nothing short of spectacular. The stars of Superman and Fantastic Four have confidently stepped into the fashion spotlight.
Their recent press appearances reveal a new kind of superpower: impressive style.
With each stop of their promotional tour, these leading actors are redefining what it means to dress like a hero – one impeccably tailored suit or statement dress at a time.
This brings to mind the fashion face-off between the Barbie and Oppenheimer casts back in 2023, where the competition spilled over from the box office to the red carpet.

Barbie channelled a vibrant, pink, and glittering aesthetic, while Oppenheimer leaned into a darker, more sombre elegance rooted in timeless tailoring. The contrast not only influenced fashion trends but also sparked conversations about each film's visual and cultural impact.
A similar dynamic emerged with last year's Wicked and Gladiator releases – one whimsical and theatrical, the other gritty and grounded.
For Superman and Fantastic Four, however, the contrast is not so stark.
Instead, it has evolved into a stylish game of one-upmanship, with each star delivering yet another lesson in suave or glamorous dressing.
It's worth noting that Superman belongs to the DC Comics universe, while Fantastic Four is part of Marvel Comics' world.
With very different – and fiercely loyal – fan bases, the competition between the two camps can be intense.
So far, Nicholas Hoult has come out swinging for Superman, photographed in sleek, designer ensembles at nearly every appearance.

Pedro Pascal, meanwhile, brings his signature charm and effortless cool to Fantastic Four events, often opting for classic silhouettes with bold, fashion-forward twists.
Other cast members like David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan and Isabela Merced made a strong impression at the Superman premiere in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, Vanessa Kirby, Julia Garner and Joseph Quinn turned heads in standout looks at the Fantastic Four's London premiere.
In recent years, red carpet fashion has become a marketing tool in its own right – not just to generate buzz, but to visually extend the world of a film beyond the screen.
Apparel and accessories are now meticulously curated to reflect a film's characters, tone, or overall identity, blurring the lines between costume, campaign, and occasionally, couture.

In a retro reimagining, ‘Fantastic 4: First Steps' finds new life in the multiverse

Set against the backdrop of a 1950s-inspired Earth, the latest Fantastic Four film delivers emotional depth, visual flair, and a surprising narrative twist. By SHAH SHAMSHIRI 30 Jul 2025 05:46pm This Fantastic Four is also definitely better made compared to the most recent live-action version in 2015 that flopped despite having names like Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller. Photo: Marvel Studios Comic book characters have long reigned the silver screen ever since superheroes found their way into Hollywood. From fictional pages of children's comics, they have successfully broken into our television sets at homes and theatres worldwide, making us crave for more and more. What this writer finds strange, is the repetitive remakes of several comic book characters in movies. We have seen several versions of Spiderman, Batman, Superman and even the X-Men on screen. And now another famous super group from the Marvel universe, known as the Fantastic 4 is back with another movie from a totally different universe and timeline. However to my delight, the movie proved to be a winner. Judging from the set and props used in the film, Fantastic 4: First Steps is aptly named as it depicts the lives of these superheroes during the era of the 1950s or 1960s, making it relevant in portraying their first steps as the planet's protectors and saviours. Vanessa Kirby stars as Sue Storm. Photo: Marvel Studios For those who follow the Marvel universe, you will know that the there are several versions of planet Earth in different realms known as the multiverse and in this edition of Fantastic Four, they are on a different planet Earth but facing a very familiar problem found on the 'other Earths.' Like the second Fantastic Four movie which starred Jessica Alba and Chris Evans a few years ago, the four astronauts turned superheroes face the wrath of Galactus the planet eater and his herald, the Silver Surfer. Only in this universe, the Silver Surfer is a female and she has a liking for the Human Torch. This playbook change makes the movie more interesting as it gives this Human Torch (played by Joseph Quinn) a slightly different personality compared to the arrogant and vain Johnny Storm played by Chris Evans in the previous film franchise. As it is also not an introductory feature of how they received their superpowers, the film takes off from some new developments where the Fantastic Four have gained world recognition and are deemed as the planet's only hope when it comes to supervillains and threats. And this time, not only are Mr Fantastic and the Invisible Woman already married but they are expecting their first child, Franklin Richards! Franklin eventually sees the light of day in the movie, as he is delivered in a spaceship in outer space during mum and dad's mission trying to stop the evil Galactus from devouring planet Earth. Julia Garner plays Silver Surfer, the steely wanderer. Photo: Marvel Studios The plot thickens when Galactus offers to spare Earth if the Richards were to hand over their child (which Galactus believes has the power to take over his hunger for planets) in return for the planet's safety. Naturally refusing the sacrifice, the Fantastic Four then devise a plan to save the planet without having to forego the new superbaby. This interesting narrative gave the movie something extra to play with, making viewers constantly guessing the next moves of the team. It also gave a chance to introduce some other important side characters including Ben Grimm or The Thing's latest love interest, schoolteacher Rachel Rozman. This Fantastic Four is also definitely better made compared to the most recent live-action version in 2015 that flopped despite having names like Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller. Furthermore, the retro-setting in this one definitely gave the film an upper edge. Topped up with the ultra-modern special effects displayed during the movie's action scenes and a stellar cast led by Pedro Pascal as the team's leader, this Fantastic 4 movie is truly an audio-visual triumph. Not only did it deliver the elements of a 'good' superhero flick, it also emits the right amount of emotions and suspense, thanks to the brilliant screenplay and acting. Be sure to stay tuned for the hidden end-credits as they may explain what is coming after this. Fantastic 4: First Steps is currently showing in all cinemas nationwide. More Like This

DJ Koo Visits Barbie Hsu's Grave Every Day Since Her Death; Sparks Concerns Over His Well-being

It's never easy to let go of the ones you love, even after their passing. Recently, South Korean star DJ Koo has been drawing concern after netizens revealed that he had been visiting his late wife Barbie Hsu's (徐熙媛) grave every day, rain or shine. Earlier this week, news outlets reported that DJ Koo, whose real name is Koo Jun-yup (구준엽), has been regularly spotted at his late wife's grave at Chin Pao San Cemetery in New Taipei City. According to locals, the singer has visited Barbie every day ever since she was laid to rest in mid-March. The 'Meteor Garden' star passed away on 2nd February 2025 at age 48 due to an influenza-related pneumonia. News outlets began reporting about DJ Koo's regular visits to Barbie's grave after a local posted about meeting the star while visiting the cemetery. The post prompted more netizens to share their stories of meeting the CLON member at Chin Pao San. Fans of Barbie also claimed to have met DJ Koo while visiting the cemetery to pay their respects to the late actress. Most of the posts revealed that the South Korean star would spend hours in front of his late wife's grave. On 29th July 2025 (Tuesday), another netizen posted about seeing DJ Koo at the cemetery, sitting by his wife's grave. In the photo shared, the musician had brought a large umbrella to shield himself from the elements as he stayed by Barbie's side. There are also rumours that the 55-year-old may be looking for a home near the cemetery so he could visit his late wife's grave more often. However, Barbie's mother, Huang Chunmei (黄春梅), denied the allegations. Netizens express sadness over the posts, extending words of support for DJ Koo. However, the news also sparked concern over the star's mental and physical well-being. Many also pointed out that the musician lost a significant amount of weight since his wife's death. For those unaware, before tying the knot in 2022, DJ Koo and Barbie dated from 1998 to 2000. After Barbie's divorce from her ex-husband Wang Xiaofei, the two rekindled their romance. Given their history, it's no surprise that DJ Koo is heavily affected by Barbie's death. However, we also hope he can find the strength to carry on with his life. What are your thoughts on this?
