‘Add him to the bomb squad' – Man Utd fans demand Ruben Amorim sells £50million midfielder after shocker against Everton
Angry supporters have demanded that Manuel Ugarte is added to the club's "bomb squad" after a costly mistake in Sunday night's 2-2 pre-season draw with Everton.

The Red Devils failed to win for the first time on their pre-season tour of the USA as they played out a feisty draw with the Toffees.
And Ugarte made a sloppy error to gift Everton their first goal of the match when he was dispossessed deep in his own half.
Ugarte, who could cost Man Utd as much as £50.7m with add-ons included, was trying to dribble away from the box and launch a counter-attack when he had his pocket picked by Vitaliy Mykolenko.
The Ukrainian easily stuck a leg out to rob Ugarte of the ball and tip it towards teammate Idrissa Gana Gueye.
Gueye then floated a delicious cross to the back post where Iliman Ndiaye tucked home an equaliser to punish Ugarte's mistake.
United supporters were less than impressed with the error, lashing out at Ugarte online afterwards.
One wrote: "We need to somehow offload Ugarte and find a replacement ASAP. He's so so poor on the ball. Just well below par."
While another added: "I desperately want Ugarte to be the man, but it's obvious we can't get any consistency in the midfield with him."
A third posted: "Ugarte's touches are very poor. This guy isn't good enough to play for United."
And a fourth fumed: "Add Ugarte to the bomb squad".
Ruben Amorim already has a "bomb squad" full of unwanted stars that he needs to offload this summer.
Marcus Rashford was the first to go after sealing his loan move to Barcelona, while Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Jadon Sancho are amongst the high-earning names that are heading for the exit doors.
Rasmus Hojlund, who has also been linked with an exit, has vowed to stay and "fight" for his place in the squad, despite Amorim hoping to bring in Benjamin Sesko before the window shuts.
Hojlund failed to find the net in Sunday's draw and found himself furious after Patrick Dorgu didn't square him the ball for an easy opportunity to build some confidence.
The misfiring striker lashed out at the woodwork instead, kicking the post before berating Dorgu for snubbing the pass in favour of going for goal himself.
Hojlund wasn't the only United player to show some frustration during the draw, with captain Burno Fernandes involved in a scuffle in the second half.
Fernandes, 30, clashed with Everton's Iliman Ndiaye on the half-way line in ugly scenes that saw both players shown yellow cards.

With United leading 2-1, the Portuguese playmaker was chasing Ndiaye as the Toffees launched a counter attack when he appeared to kick out at the Senegal international as he skipped away from him.
Ndiaye was incensed by the lunging kick, which seemingly had no chance of nicking the ball away, and immediately turned to confront Fernandes.
Tempers began to flare from there with the pair trading shoves on the half-way line and attracting the interest of teammates who tried to pull them apart.
It tarnished an otherwise impressive outing for the pair who had both found the net earlier in the game.
Fernandes opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a calmly taken penalty after James Tarkowski brought down Amad Diallo in the area.
While Ndiaye was the Everton man to level the scores in the 39th minute when he scored off the back of Ugarte's error.
Fernandes later set up Mason Mount 's 69th minute goal for United, making a clever sideways pass into the box for Mount to spectacularly send curling into the far corner of Jordan Pickford 's net.
Before youngster Ayden Heaven turned the ball into his own goal just over five minutes later after Amad's attempted tackle on Dwight McNeil deflected onto his leg and into the back of the net to level the scores.

Padres rally in ninth to take series from Diamondbacks
August 7 - Ryan O'Hearn tied the game with a leadoff homer in the ninth inning, Jose Iglesias singled in the go-ahead run, and the San Diego Padres beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2 in the decisive game of a three-game series on Wednesday in Phoenix. O'Hearn went deep off Kyle Backhus (0-2), his first homer since being acquired by San Diego at the trade deadline. Xander Bogaerts then doubled and was sacrificed to third before scoring on Iglesias' line-drive single to right. Corbin Carroll hit a 443-foot homer in the first inning and Alek Thomas added a sacrifice fly in the second to give Arizona a 2-0 lead, but the Diamondbacks had one hit after Tyler Locklear's single in the second. Padres reliever Adrian Morejon (9-4) gave up one hit in two scoreless innings. Mason Miller struck out three in the ninth while working around a two-out walk for his 21st save, his first since joining San Diego in a deadline deal. Freddy Fermin had three hits for the Padres, who have won nine of 11. Bogaerts homered in the seventh to slice Arizona's lead to 2-1. He went deep for the second consecutive game and has hit six of his nine homers since June 19. The Diamondbacks have lost two in a row and eight of 11. Arizona starter Anthony DeSclafani gave up three hits in 4 1/3 scoreless innings during his third start of the season. He struck out four, issued no walks and was removed with a 2-0 lead. Nestor Cortes gave up two runs on three hits in 4 2/3 innings in his first start for the Padres after being obtained at the deadline. He walked three and struck out three. Carroll hit an 0-2 pitch for his 23rd homer for a 1-0 lead as the second batter in the first inning. The D-backs loaded the bases with no outs in the second when Locklear beat out an infield single before Cortes hit Blaze Alexander and James McCann with inside pitches. However, Arizona scored only on Thomas' sacrifice fly. After going 0-for-13 with runners in scoring position in a 10-5, 11-inning loss Tuesday, the D-backs were 0-for-4 in those situations on Wednesday. --Field Level Media

Refreshed Sinner ready for Cincinnati title defence
Aug 7 (Reuters) - World number one Jannik Sinner said he had taken the right decision by opting for a long break following his Wimbledon triumph, and the recharged Italian is ready to fire at the Cincinnati Open where he will defend his title. The 23-year-old lost a marathon French Open final to rival Carlos Alcaraz in June before gaining revenge over the Spaniard at the All England Club last month to secure his fourth Grand Slam title overall and second of a difficult season in which he served a short ban for an inadvertent doping offence. Sinner opted to prioritise his health following that victory and will return after a near month-long absence from the circuit when he takes to the court over the weekend in Cincinnati after getting a first-round bye. "The body and mind need to recover and need to understand what happened," Sinner told reporters in Ohio on Wednesday as he explained his scheduling. "I'm very happy I took some time off, seeing my family and friends and very important people I have around. In the past, I made some mistakes sometimes, starting too early at times. "I had conversations with the whole team, trying to understand what's best. When you win big titles, they're very special moments and then you have to leave them." Sinner sported a protective sleeve on his right elbow when he practised with Christopher Eubanks on Wednesday, sparking concerns that he was still feeling the effects of an injury sustained during his title run at Wimbledon. The Italian said, however, that he was only using it as it gave him more stability. "The elbow is good. Today was the first time that I put the sleeve on because I liked the feeling of the sleeve," he said. "The impact with the ball is slightly more stable and I liked it at Wimbledon. I had to see how it is when it's very hot and humid because it's a bit different. "It's going to be something I take into consideration, but I really love the feeling of pure striking." The Cincinnati tournament is a tune-up event for the U.S. Open that runs from August 23 to September 7.

Welsh Fire hoping for early spark in The Hundred
Welsh Fire know their campaigns cannot be slow burners when they get under way in The Hundred today.A double-header against Northern Superchargers at Headingley sees the women start their bid to go one better than 2024 (15:00 BST) before the men begin their hunt for an elusive play-off spot (18.30 BST).They then both take to the field in Cardiff for the first time this summer when hosting London Spirit on Tammy Beaumont and the overseas trio of Hayley Matthews, Jess Jonassen and Shabnim Ismail return as the women stick with a familiar superstar Steve Smith arrives in Cardiff for a first taste of The Hundred as the men try to turn around their fortunes. The Smith factor Smith adds stardust and the hope is that he can give his new teammates, now including Glamorgan's Ben Kellaway, a little bit extra while also piling on the runs."He's going to bring a huge amount to the team," said captain and Somerset batter Tom Abell."His record speaks for itself, he's a great guy and a world-class player who has done it in all formats at the very top level."His influence on the team will be huge. He has been the best player in the world for a good number of years and that will hopefully give everyone an extra little bit of confidence."Anyone wants Steve Smith in their team, don't they? Luckily he will be playing for us."The Australian has passed 10,000 runs in Tests, 5,000 in ODIs and 1,000 in international T20s."Even Jonny Bairstow, who has played 100 Test matches, is asking what Steve Smith is like to play with," said coach Mike Hussey."He will bring a lot to the team, and hopefully a lot of runs, experience and star power."Fire men missed out on the eliminator on net run rate in 2023 and won just two of six fixtures that beat the weather last took until the fifth fixture to get a success and Hussey does not want to be playing catch-up this August."All the teams are pretty strong so we are going to have to hit the ground running," said the Australian."Hopefully we can play some really good cricket, get some confidence going early and then see how we go."I don't know how far we can go, we are hoping to go all the way but obviously you need a lot to go your way." Together, stronger Fire women have been on the up since the opening years of the competition when they finished one from bottom in 2021 and then propped up the table in were third in 2023 when their eliminator was washed out and then topped the table on run rate last year only to lose the final at Lord's when London Spirit chased down their total off 98 call is for more of the same in the bid to go one better."It was an outstanding campaign," said captain Tammy Beaumont. "This year there are some really tough teams - on paper anyone can beat anyone - but I hope that the togetherness that we have had for the last few years really shines through again."That's been our X-factor that has driven us on and spurred us on to win some tight games."In a tournament that features stellar talent, boss Gareth Breese agrees that it needs to be a squad effort if Fire are to go one better."Last year was a phenomenal experience to get to the final, missing out by two or three balls in the end," said the former West Indies all-rounder."Taking each game as it comes and having a real team effort – last year that was the hallmark of our performances."Somebody always seemed to step up and put in the performances. Can we put that fight and determination out there?"Both Fire teams will attempt to do that in Yorkshire before repeating the trick in Cardiff two days later.
