Monsoon alert: Light rainfall likely to occur in parts of Delhi-NCR
New Delhi [India], June 24 (ANI): Several parts of the national capital and adjoining NCR areas are set to witness light rainfall and cloudy skies on Tuesday, bringing much-needed relief from the intense summer heat.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), 'Light rainfall is very likely to occur at Delhi (Narela, Bawana, Alipur, Kanjhawala, Rohini, Badili, Pitampura, Mundaka, Pashchim Vihar, Rajauri Garden, Jafarpur, Nazafgarh, Dwarka, Palam, IGI Airport), NCR (Bahadurgarh, Gurugram), Safidon, Jind, Panipat.'
Rain is also expected in nearby areas such as Bahadurgarh and Gurugram in the National Capital Region, as well as Safidon, Jind, and Panipat in Haryana.
Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon had advanced further into most parts of Bihar and some more regions of eastern Uttar Pradesh as of June 19, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to the weather department, the deepening monsoon activity is set to bring very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall to isolated places across Gujarat, north Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Odisha on Wednesday. Jharkhand is bracing for similar weather on June 19 and 20.
In East and Central India, extremely heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Jharkhand on June 19.
In West India, extremely heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Konkan, ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, and the Gujarat Region on June 19.
In Northeast India, light to moderate rainfall at most places accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall will likely continue over Northeast India during next 7 days.
In South Peninsular India, IMD forecast isolated heavy rainfall likely over Kerala and Mahe on June 19 and during 22-25, Coastal Karnataka on June 19 and during June 21-25.
Hot and humid conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema during June 19-21. (ANI)

Several parts in the region are also likely to witness very heavy rainfall till June 30. The IMD said Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan will witness isolated heavy rainfall from 24 to 30 June. Light to moderate rainfall has also been predicted at most places, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph, likely over Northwest India from 24 to 30 June. The weather agency has predicted isolated heavy rainfall over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh from 24 to 28 June, while the forecast for West Bengal is until June 27. Madhya Pradesh will likely receive very heavy rainfall on June 28 and 29. Light to moderate rainfall is forecasted for most places in Northeastern India, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over the next 7 days. The region is also likely to witness isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in this period. The IMD forecasted isolated heavy rainfall likely over Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu till June 28.

Delhi Braces For Monsoon: IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Rains And Thunderstorms
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also declared a 'yellow alert' in Delhi and surrounding National Capital Region (NCR) areas today for a mostly cloudy sky with light to moderate rain, accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms. This indicated an early arrival of the southwest monsoon for the capital, which normally arrives around June 27. Parts of Delhi, including Narela, Bawana, Alipur, Kanjhawala, Rohini, Pitampura, Mundaka, Paschim Vihar, Rajauri Garden, Jafarpur, Najafgarh, Dwarka, Palam, and IGI Airport, have already experienced light rainfall. NCR areas like Bahadurgarh and Gurugram, along with Safidon, Jind, and Panipat in Haryana, are also slated for similar weather conditions. The southwest monsoon has already made substantial progress, advancing over the remaining regions of the north Arabian Sea, and moving into additional regions of West Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, and multiple regions of Punjab. Delhi can be expected to keep experiencing rain during the course of the week, from June 22 to June 29, with Tuesday's maximum temperature forecast to continue hovering around 35 degrees Celsius, providing relief from the recent heat spell. With the arrival of the monsoon, Delhi's air quality is expected to drastically improve. Delhi reported a 'moderate' Air Quality Index (AQI) of 112 on Monday at 4 PM, up from a 'satisfactory' AQI of 92 in the morning. The AQI is, however, projected to become 'satisfactory' again on Tuesday, with the help of the refreshing showers.
