Magnificent Scottish Castle offers luxury well experience including sunrise yoga
A luxury castle just outside Glasgow is inviting guests to embrace tranquillity with a new series of wellness experiences, including sunrise yoga, guided meditation and ice baths.
Crossbasket Castle, located around 20 minutes from the city, has expanded its offering following a £20 million redevelopment. The upgrade included the launch of an enhanced restaurant in partnership with Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux Jr. Now, the historic venue is turning its attention to wellbeing, encouraging visitors to 'step away from the everyday' and reconnect with themselves, Glasgow Live reports.
The new wellness series begins with two full-day retreats on Wednesday August 27 and Sunday September 21. Guests will be welcomed with herbal teas or a light spritz before embarking on a day designed to promote movement, mindfulness and rest.
The morning sessions will feature guided journaling, breath awareness and gentle yoga, followed by yoga nidra, a deep relaxation practice. A light and nourishing lunch will be served at the castle's Foveran's restaurant, with dishes carefully chosen to complement the retreat's focus on balance and wellbeing.

In the afternoon, guests will learn grounding techniques and take part in yin yoga before being introduced to the Wim Hof breathing method. The day will conclude with a meditative sound bath, designed to leave participants feeling calm and reflective.
For those looking for a more immersive experience, Crossbasket Castle will host its first overnight wellness programme, Fire and Ice Luxury Wellness, from Thursday October 2 to Friday October 3.
The overnight stay will begin with a welcome to one of the castle's new bedrooms, complete with a curated hamper. Day one includes tailored yoga sessions and intention setting, followed by an evening of guided meditation, breathwork and a Release and Let Go fire pit ceremony.
Guests will then enjoy herbal teas and healthy bedtime snacks in the Stewart Room to promote a restful night's sleep.
The following morning will open with an energising sunrise yoga session before guests are guided through Wim Hof breathwork and an invigorating ice bath. All activities will be led by experienced and qualified instructors. Throughout the retreat, nourishing menus crafted by the executive chef will aim to support gentle detox and renewal.
Prices start from £95 per person for the one-day retreats, with the overnight package from £395 based on two sharing.
In addition to its wellness events, Crossbasket Castle will also host its third creative art workshop on Thursday 23 October.
The Handmade Journals workshop, led by therapeutic artist Kim Flower, offers participants the chance to craft and sew their own personalised art journals.

Canary Islands issue rare 'black alert' for British tourists at popular holiday beach
Canary Islands issue rare 'black alert' for British tourists at popular holiday beach The European Union holiday hotspot has issued the rare warning for British holidaymakers at one of the most popular beaches on the popular La Graciosa which is just off Lanzarote The Island of La Graciosa is one of the most popular holiday destinations for Brits heading to Canary Islands (Image: Iñigo Fdz de Pinedo via Getty Images) A Canary Islands destination has issued a rare "black alert" for UK tourists and holidaymakers. The European Union holiday hotspot has issued the uncommon warning for British visitors at one of the most sought-after beaches on the popular La Graciosa. The latest warning comes after Brits were recently warned with a man facing up to a €200,000 fine for breaking a little-known rule about drone use in Spain. However this is not the only warning issued to UK tourists this season. UK tourists have also previously been warned to check their travel insurance policy before travelling as 12 Spanish airports are facing strikes. Graciosa Island, or more commonly La Graciosa, is a volcanic island in the Canary Islands of Spain, situated two kilometres north of Lanzarote across the Strait of El Río. For our free daily briefing on the biggest issues facing the nation sign up to the Wales Matters newsletter here . The environmental organisation has released its yearly Black Flag list for Spain. Featured on this year's list is the Playa de Caleta de Sebo, the "town beach" of La Graciosa's capital, alongside the Playa de la Francesa, positioned a little further along the coastline. Article continues below Ecologistas en Acción's yearly report, which has been spotlighting environmental mismanagement in Spain since 2005, catalogues the beaches awarded a black flag this year. According to Ecologists in Action, the beach in Caleta de Sebo is in a "poor state of conservation" with rubbish from vessels, beachgoers, and eateries adding to contamination, reports BirminghamLive. At Playa de la Francesa they caution of the issue of catamaran excursions that arrive at the location "holding parties, meals, games, and contests with loud music and leaving waste behind on the sand and in the water". They allege that catamaran passengers toss chicken scraps to birds, primarily seagulls, which can strike the hulls of the boats while attempting to catch them, and discard leftover rice into the sea to feed the fish. Lanzarote, along with other Canary Islands such as Tenerife and Gran Canaria, is a popular destination for British tourists. However last year Playa Blanca town beach was given a black flag by Ecologists in Action due to incidents of sewage leaks. Article continues below Despite this Playa Blanca remains one of only two Lanzarote beaches to retain its Blue Flag status this year.

Man goes from London to Edinburgh on Caledonian Sleeper train and price floors people
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info A travel influencer has revealed the luxury of travelling on Scotland's famous sleeper train – but viewers have been left stunned by the costs. TikTok user GeorgeInLondon reviewed his trip from London to Edinburgh on the Caledonian Sleeper, a train that travels once a weeknight and on Sundays. The train includes cabins for overnight accommodation and takes around eight hours to arrive at Waverley. While George stayed in a club en-suite, a range of different accommodation options are available. Travellers can choose to stay in a seat in the main coach, or pay more for a 'classic' twin bunk bed cabin. Or if they want a more high-end experience, they can take George's lead for the club en-suite or the highest priced Caledonian Double en-suite, which includes a double bed and shower room. George outlined his experience in a video on the social media platform, saying he "absolutely loved it". The cabin he stayed in on his first UK sleeper journey was "so cosy" and he praised the "soft" duvet and pillows provided for his trip. The cabin came with USB charging ports, plug sockets and a reading light, while the en-suite facilities include a shower, toilet and sink. (Image: Ken Jack, Getty Images) He continued: "You are also given sleep packs which include an eye mask and earplugs. "I'd say if you are a lighter sleeper, you might need these. But for me, the sounds and movement of the train definitely added to the whole experience and I really did feel like I was travelling up on the Hogwarts Express. "It was so cool, but I would recommend only bringing hand luggage with you just to give yourself enough space as possible you can store bags underneath your bed. "But if you do have bigger bags then speak to the train staff and they'll be able to help store your bags for you outside of your cabin." Those who book the club cabins also get access to the club car, where travellers can enjoy a late-night drink, dinner, specials and breakfast in the morning - the latter of which George labelled "delicious". Furthermore, club bookers also gain access to a special lounge at London Euston that offers complimentary refreshments and access to showers for before or after the journey. While part of the train's allure is the stunning views of Scotland, George explained that he "didn't get the opportunity to see" these due to travelling in autumn. However, he'll book again in spring or summer to ensure he doesn't miss out next time. The Caledonian Sleeper services also call at other major Scottish destinations. Glasgow, Aberdeen, Fort William and Inverness are also on the timetable, with stops at Dundee, Arbroath and Motherwell also en route on other lines. However, not everyone was as convinced as George. After watching his review, users expressed their dismay and shock at the cost of travelling on the Caledonian Sleeper. One commenter called it a "rip off" while another claimed it "cost more than an all-inclusive in Greece". Another user voiced their dissatisfaction, saying "I've done this and it's the bumpiest, loudest journey, you'll get zero sleep and it costs a fortune." During the first weekend of April 2026, the Caledonian Sleeper from London Euston to Edinburgh costs £54 per person for a seat in the main coach. However, prices dramatically escalate to nearly five times the price for a cabin. The classic twin bunk bedroom with a washbasin costs £250 for all guests, while George's preferred option is £285 for everyone sleeping in the club en-suite. Finally, the "flagship" Caledonian double en-suite costs £380 for all guests. While these prices can definitely get steep for an eight-hour journey, it is clear that George loved the experience on the whole.
