The Hindu8 hours ago
A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued for a large-scale Indian Air Force (IAF) exercise scheduled for July 23–25 in Rajasthan along the India-Pakistan border.
According to sources, the Indian Air Force is set to carry out a major military exercise in Rajasthan, covering areas from Barmer to Jodhpur.
'The exercise is scheduled to take place in Rajasthan near the International Border, is part of the IAF's regular operational readiness drills. It could be between two or three commands of IAF. We keep issuing NOTAM during such exercise to keep airspace cleared of any civilian aircraft,' said the official.
The intensive drill will including frontline fighter jets including Rafale, Mirage 2000, and Sukhoi-30 aircraft, along with air-defence system and support systems. The drill will also involve preparedness during night operations.
The drill comes amid heightened alertness at India-Pakistan border where India Air Force is focusing on strategic preparedness and enhancing air defence capabilities.
The region witnessed Pakistani drone and missile intrusions during Operation Sindoor, where Pakistan launched 413 drone attacks targeting Rajasthan's Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Sri Ganganagar districts. All of these aerial attacks were foiled by advanced air defence system deployed by Indian defence forces.

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh police on Monday said they have arrested three persons suspected of being involved in circulating on social media a hate video message from Pakistan. Also being investigated is the possible role of Pakistani intelligence agencies in pushing the video, which was shared over WhatsApp in the western part of the state. The arrested persons-identified as Nadeem (25), Manser (45) and Rahees (35)-have been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act. According to UP Police, the video, from Muzaffargarh in Pakistan and dated April 2024, shows a man killing his wife and seven children with an axe. It was circulated on the second Monday of the Shravan month during the Kanwar Yatra, with fake voice notes alleging Bajrang Dal members were attacking Muslim families. Five WhatsApp groups-All India Employer Group, Khidmat Abbasi Group, Proud Indian Muslim, Muslim Samaj Zindabad and Kakraulli Yuva Ekta-were used to spread the clip. ADG (Meerut Zone) Bhanu Bhaskar said, "The field formations of Saharanpur and Meerut Range were continuously monitoring social media. On the input of a digital volunteer from Muzaffarnagar district, we were alerted to an attempt to incite communal disturbances in the district by posting fake, morphed, disturbing and provocative images."

3 held for stoking communal hatred

Lucknow: With the arrest of three people, Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday claimed to have foiled an alleged Pakistan-linked digital conspiracy to incite communal riots and possible terror attacks during the Kanwar Yatra in western UP. The miscreants were arrested for allegedly circulating morphed and inflammatory videos and audios designed to provoke communal hatred, police said. Police confirmed the footage was from Muzaffargarh in Pakistan and was related to an incident involving the murder of a woman and her seven children by her husband in April last year. The conspirators misrepresented this incident to spark communal violence. A special police team arrested Mohammed Nadeem (25), Mansher (45), and Rahees alias Furkan (35) from Kakrauli. Three mobile phones used for spreading the content were seized, and a case under relevant BNS sections and the UAPA Act has been registered. Investigations are underway to identify other collaborators, with possible links to radical outfits and Pakistani agencies, said police officers in the DGP headquarters. "The digital diagnostics revealed that the morphed message originated from Pakistan," said Bhanu Bhaskar, additional DG, Meerut zone. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Nikoo Homes: Luxury Starts @ ₹1.2 Cr* Nikoo Homes Sadahalli Learn More Undo Given Muzaffarnagar's sensitive law-and-order environment, the security was intensified with the deployment of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Rapid Action Force and rigorous social media monitoring. The police identified a WhatsApp group, 'Kakrauli Yuva Ekta', where fake videos and audios were being circulated to inflame tensions. "This was not just an attempt to spread communal hatred but a premeditated plan to provoke riots and possibly orchestrate a lone-wolf terror attack," said a senior officer. On the directions of DGP Rajeev Krishna, the police are continuously monitoring social media, said Bhanu Bhaskar.
