Cole Haan to enter performance wear arena, names new golf president
Upclose, the deal will bring to market Cole Haan golf apparel, with racket sports and performance lifestyle collections to follow.
Scott Davis of Catapult Group will lead the new division as president of Cole Haan golf, overseeing global strategy and go-to-market operations. Davis boasts 25 years of experience across global fashion, golf brands, and retailers, and is known for driving growth and brand evolution, according to a press release.
"Since re-entering the golf footwear category in 2021, we have been focused on a journey to bring well-designed, high-quality performance footwear and apparel to professionals and enthusiasts who live a 24/7 lifestyle—from the back nine to the corner office and everywhere in between," said Jack Boys, CEO at Cole Haan.
"With Scott Davis and the Catapult team as our partners, we have the proven expertise needed to deliver on products at the intersection of style and performance—bringing a uniquely Cole Haan perspective to one of the world's fastest-growing sports."
The first drop will launch globally in spring 2026.

'We cannot be scared, nervous, and anxious when there is a crisis. A crisis is for us to create new things,' Lula said. 'In this case, what is unpleasant is that the reasons given to impose sanctions against Brazil do not exist.' Hours later, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced new sanctions against at least two Brazilian officials, in a move the South American nation's health minister rebuked. Top congressional leaders attended Wednesday's ceremony at the presidential palace in Brasilia, a first in months, in a sign of growing political support for Lula in response to Trump. What does the plan entail? According to local media, Brazil's measures include postponing tax charges for companies affected by US tariffs and providing 5 billion reais ($930,000) in tax credits to small- and medium-sized companies until the end of 2026. It also includes expanding access to insurance against cancelled orders. While public purchases of items that could not be exported to the US are also included, Lula's government is also granting a one-year extension of tax credits for companies that import items so they can produce goods for exportation, a mechanism called 'drawback.' Trump has tied the 50% tariff on many imported Brazilian goods to the judicial situation of his embattled ally, former President Jair Bolsonaro, who is currently under house arrest. Trump claims Bolsonaro is a victim of a political witch hunt, allegations Brazil denies. The Trump administration's accusations and trade tariffs against Brasilia have riled up the country's political climate and led to an increase in support and poll numbers for President Lula da Silva. On Wednesday, Lula once again said he and Trump have never spoken and claimed the American president does not want to negotiate.

Venus Williams receives wild card for US Open singles
The 45-year-old American recently returned from a 16-month layoff after a serious health scare and was among eight women's wild card recipients named on Wednesday by tournament organisers. Seven-time Grand Slam singles champion Williams will become the oldest singles entrant at the US Open since Renee Richards, who was 47 in 1981. Williams underwent surgery last year to remove uterine fibroids and missed most of the season. She made her comeback last month and became the oldest WTA match winner since Martina Navratilova at the age of 47 at Wimbledon in 2004, beating Peyton Stearns in the first round of the DC Open. Williams, the 2000 Sydney Olympic singles champion, has also won five Wimbledon singles titles to go along with her 2000 and 2001 US Open triumphs. She lost in the final in New York on her debut to Martina Hingis as a teenager in 1997. Venus also finished runner-up to younger sister Serena in 2002. American tennis star Venus Williams will be honoured with a new Barbie doll celebrating her sports legacy and her fight for pay equity, the dollmaker announced today. Williams' doll is part of Mattel Creations' Inspiring Women Collection, and will be released on Friday. It is expected to cost $38 (€32). After more than a year off the tennis court, the 45-year-old player became the second oldest woman to win a WTA singles match during her July run at the Washington Open. Her upcoming doll will feature the tennis icon in all white with a green gem necklace, wristband, racket and tennis ball, as a nod to the tennis uniform she wore while winning Wimbledon in 2007.
