
Yoga brings mental peace, complete health: Geetanjali Sharma
Machilipatnam: Krishna district in-charge Collector Geetanjali Sharma urged everyone to achieve mental peace and complete health through the practice of Yoga. She called upon all citizens to participate in yoga programmes and become healthier.
On Wednesday morning, in connection with the upcoming 11th International Yoga Day, the c at the Zilla Parishad Convention Hall in the city, organised by the AYUSH Department. She was the chief guest and inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.
Speaking on the occasion, she announced that 'Yoga Andhra 2025' has been launched on Wednesday in preparation for International Yoga Day on June 21. She stated that various yoga competitions and other programmes will be conducted in the district for a month until June 21.
She highlighted the numerous benefits of practicing yoga, emphasising that connecting the mind with the body leads to complete health, happiness, and a peaceful life. Yoga programmes will be organised by the AYUSH Department in collaboration with various yoga associations not only at the district level but also at the mandal and village levels.
Yoga gurus, along with their disciples, will provide yoga training to people across the district. These yoga training classes will also be conducted in colleges and schools after the summer holidays.
Preparations are underway to organise a large-scale yoga event on Manginapudi Beach on that day. The collector urged everyone to continue practicing yoga continuously for their personal health, even after the month-long government programmes conclude, emphasising the importance of individual dedication. She called upon all citizens to participate in these yoga programmes and achieve good health.

Mass Yoga demonstration held at Mahanandi
Mahanandi: As part of the State government's prestigious month-long Yoga Andhra initiative, a grand yoga event was conducted at the sacred precincts of Mahanandi, with over 2,000 participants on Saturday. The event was inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp by Nandyal District Collector G Raja Kumari and Joint Collector C Vishnu Charan. Speaking on the occasion, Raja Kumari emphasized the significance of incorporating yoga into daily life to attain physical well-being and mental peace. She noted that this state-wide initiative, launched in the run-up to International Yoga Day on June 21, is being implemented under the slogan 'Yoga for One Earth – One Health.' She highlighted the health benefits of regular yoga practice and reiterated the State Government's vision to ensure a happy and healthy population by 2047 under the Swarnandhra mission. She said the Yoga Andhra campaign is being held across key tourist and spiritual sites such as Srisailam, Mahanandi, Ahobilam, Belum Caves, and Pacharla Jungle Camp through well-structured planning. Speaking at the event, Joint Collector Vishnu Charan said that yoga activities are being conducted throughout the month at the village, mandal, and district levels as part of the government's directive. He added that competitions in three categories are also being organized across the district. Earlier in the session, Yoga Guru Asha from the Ramachandra Mission and her team led participants through various yoga asanas such as Vrikshasana, Vakrasana, Setu Bandhasana, Tadasana, Uttanapadasana, Pavanamuktasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Shalabhasana, Ustrasana, Padahastasana, and Dandasana.

Regular practice of yoga improves health
Anantapur: Practicing yoga regularly and systematically can significantly improve one's health, said Zilla Parishad Chairperson Boya Girijamma. She was speaking at the 'Yogandhra Mass Yoga Program' held at MYR Kalyana Mandapam on Ballari Road, Anantapur town, on Saturday. The event was organised under the supervision of the District Panchayat Raj Department as part of the ongoing Yogandhra monthly celebrations. Addressing the gathering, Chairperson Girijamma emphasised the importance of preserving and promoting yoga, a part of India's rich cultural and traditional heritage, among future generations. DM&HO Dr EB Devi stated that daily yoga practice helps individuals stay happy and healthy while reducing the need for hospital visits. She urged everyone to register and actively participate in the upcoming International Yoga Day on June 21. District Panchayat Raj Officer Nagaraju mentioned that the program was conducted as per the directions of the District Collector. He encouraged citizens to dedicate at least 45 minutes daily for yoga and meditation, which he said contributes to a peaceful and joyful day.

Govt schools embrace yoga through Olympiad initiative
Ranchi: Govt school students are now learning yoga through the Yoga Olympiad initiated by the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC), embedding yoga into their daily lives. The initiative aims to promote holistic well-being among school children by encouraging the regular practice of yoga and making it an integral part of school life. As part of the programme, selected participants from the Yogamay Jharkhand Olympiad are receiving specialised yoga training from May 29 to June 12. The trained students will represent Jharkhand at the National Yoga Olympiad, scheduled to be held from June 15 to 18 in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. To institutionalise yoga activities and ensure their continuity, the education department has directed the formation of yoga clubs in all govt and aided schools. These clubs will be constituted on June 12, said officials.
