Mahanandi: As part of the State government's prestigious month-long Yoga Andhra initiative, a grand yoga event was conducted at the sacred precincts of Mahanandi, with over 2,000 participants on Saturday. The event was inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp by Nandyal District Collector G Raja Kumari and Joint Collector C Vishnu Charan.
Speaking on the occasion, Raja Kumari emphasized the significance of incorporating yoga into daily life to attain physical well-being and mental peace. She noted that this state-wide initiative, launched in the run-up to International Yoga Day on June 21, is being implemented under the slogan 'Yoga for One Earth – One Health.'
She highlighted the health benefits of regular yoga practice and reiterated the State Government's vision to ensure a happy and healthy population by 2047 under the Swarnandhra mission. She said the Yoga Andhra campaign is being held across key tourist and spiritual sites such as Srisailam, Mahanandi, Ahobilam, Belum Caves, and Pacharla Jungle Camp through well-structured planning.
Speaking at the event, Joint Collector Vishnu Charan said that yoga activities are being conducted throughout the month at the village, mandal, and district levels as part of the government's directive. He added that competitions in three categories are also being organized across the district.
Earlier in the session, Yoga Guru Asha from the Ramachandra Mission and her team led participants through various yoga asanas such as Vrikshasana, Vakrasana, Setu Bandhasana, Tadasana, Uttanapadasana, Pavanamuktasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Shalabhasana, Ustrasana, Padahastasana, and Dandasana.

'Preparations for International Yoga Day 2025 have begun with the launch of a cleanliness campaign on May 27, and daily yoga classes are underway for the grand event on June 21. When Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi proposed the idea of yoga at the United Nations, 177 countries agreed to it and today, yoga derived from our land has reached every person in the world. The prime minister has worked to spread the message of yoga all over the world,' the chief minister said in Kurukshetra, adding that the International Yoga Day programme would be 'historic and grand'. Saini chaired a meeting with various institutions for International Yoga Day at the Multi Arts Cultural Centre in Kurukshetra. During the meeting, Saini urged officials of institutions, NGOs, business organisations, and other organisations to play their role in making the programme successful. He also asked Patanjali Yog Peeth to spread the message of yoga in every house in the city. The theme of International Yoga Day this year is 'One Earth, One Health', while the Haryana government has also added the 'Yoga Yukt, Nasha Mukt' slogan to it. For June 21, the Brahma Sarovar and Mela Ground have been divided into 103 sectors. Out of these, 64 sectors have been made in Brahma Sarovar and 37 sectors in the Mela Ground and surrounding areas. Arrangements have been made for 1,000 sadhaks to do yoga in every sector.

Anantapur: Practicing yoga regularly and systematically can significantly improve one's health, said Zilla Parishad Chairperson Boya Girijamma. She was speaking at the 'Yogandhra Mass Yoga Program' held at MYR Kalyana Mandapam on Ballari Road, Anantapur town, on Saturday. The event was organised under the supervision of the District Panchayat Raj Department as part of the ongoing Yogandhra monthly celebrations. Addressing the gathering, Chairperson Girijamma emphasised the importance of preserving and promoting yoga, a part of India's rich cultural and traditional heritage, among future generations. DM&HO Dr EB Devi stated that daily yoga practice helps individuals stay happy and healthy while reducing the need for hospital visits. She urged everyone to register and actively participate in the upcoming International Yoga Day on June 21. District Panchayat Raj Officer Nagaraju mentioned that the program was conducted as per the directions of the District Collector. He encouraged citizens to dedicate at least 45 minutes daily for yoga and meditation, which he said contributes to a peaceful and joyful day.
