Mass Yoga demonstration held at Mahanandi
Mahanandi: As part of the State government's prestigious month-long Yoga Andhra initiative, a grand yoga event was conducted at the sacred precincts of Mahanandi, with over 2,000 participants on Saturday. The event was inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp by Nandyal District Collector G Raja Kumari and Joint Collector C Vishnu Charan. Speaking on the occasion, Raja Kumari emphasized the significance of incorporating yoga into daily life to attain physical well-being and mental peace. She noted that this state-wide initiative, launched in the run-up to International Yoga Day on June 21, is being implemented under the slogan 'Yoga for One Earth – One Health.' She highlighted the health benefits of regular yoga practice and reiterated the State Government's vision to ensure a happy and healthy population by 2047 under the Swarnandhra mission. She said the Yoga Andhra campaign is being held across key tourist and spiritual sites such as Srisailam, Mahanandi, Ahobilam, Belum Caves, and Pacharla Jungle Camp through well-structured planning. Speaking at the event, Joint Collector Vishnu Charan said that yoga activities are being conducted throughout the month at the village, mandal, and district levels as part of the government's directive. He added that competitions in three categories are also being organized across the district. Earlier in the session, Yoga Guru Asha from the Ramachandra Mission and her team led participants through various yoga asanas such as Vrikshasana, Vakrasana, Setu Bandhasana, Tadasana, Uttanapadasana, Pavanamuktasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Shalabhasana, Ustrasana, Padahastasana, and Dandasana.

Mega job fair in Nandyal on June 5
Nandyal: District Collector G Raja Kumari urged the unemployed youth to utilise job opportunities by actively participating in the upcoming job mela. Speaking after unveiling the Job Mela posters during the public grievance redressal programme held at the PGRS Hall in the Collectorate on Monday, she emphasized the importance of such employment drives. On the occasion, the Collector highlighted that three job melas have already been conducted in the district, benefiting a significant number of unemployed youth. She mentioned that more employment opportunities will be facilitated in the future through the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC). A Mega Job Mela is scheduled to be held on June 5 at KJR Degree College premises in Banaganapalle constituency. The event will see participation from 15 reputed private companies such as Unicharm India Pvt. Ltd, NS Instruments, Daikin, Quest Corp, Annapurna Finance Ltd, MedPlus, RBS Transmission, Zomato, Dodla Dairy, Amity Marketing, Dixon Technologies. Hetero, Axis Bank, Shirdi Sai Electricals and Amazon. Candidates who have completed 10th class, ITI, Diploma, Intermediate, Degree, (Mechanical), are eligible to participate. Collector launches Yoga Andhra-2025 drive
Nandyal: Collector G Rajakumari explained the importance of integrating yoga into daily life for physical and mental well-being. She urged officials and the public to actively take part in the state-led Yoga Andhra-2025 campaign. Launching the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations at Nandyal Indoor Stadium on Wednesday, she lit the ceremonial lamp and inaugurated the month-long campaign. The Collector stated that daily yoga practice promotes physical fitness, mental peace, and emotional balance, helping reduce stress and anxiety. She recalled that International Yoga Day, now celebrated in over 170 countries, began after the Prime Minister's 2014 proposal at the UN. Under the Chief Minister's guidance, Yoga Andhra-2025 will run from May 21 to June 21. Trained yoga practitioners will serve as resource persons at all administrative levels, conducting awareness and training sessions from May 28. She announced that the Prime Minister will attend the International Yoga Day event on June 21 in Visakhapatnam, expected to draw five lakh participants. The district administration is celebrating the campaign's launch with grandeur, involving departments like AYUSH, Health, Panchayati Raj, and Municipal Administration. Officials have been directed to extend full support. Yoga enthusiasts are encouraged to train under certified instructors. DRDA and MEPMA officials have been asked to register participants on the official website. At the municipal level, two trainers will be allotted per ward or group of wards. Plans include mass yoga sessions with at least 1,000 participants at 24 tourism sites and temples. Special focus will be on involving women from self-help groups and MEPMA. Joint Collector C Vishnu Charan noted that yoga is a lifestyle and praised public involvement in the initiative.

Farmers assured to give MSP for jowar
Nandyal: The government has approved procurement of 30,000 tonnes of sorghum (jowar) in Nandyal district at minimum support price (MSP), Joint Collector C Vishnu Charan announced. He chaired a review meeting with officials concerned on sorghum procurement at the Collectorate on Saturday. The Joint Collector stated that out of the sanctioned 30,000 tonnes, only 5,000 metric tonnes have been procured so far, adding that there is still scope to procure additional 25,000 tonnes. He instructed the officials to inform farmers that sorghum should be brought for unloading only after scheduling through agricultural staff at Rythu Seva Kendras (RSKs). Sorghum brought without prior scheduling will not be procured, he cautioned. Vishnu Charan emphasised that every farmer must bring essential documents - Aadhaar card, bank passbook, and land passbook - while coming for procurement. These documents should be submitted to the designated agency to facilitate generation of an online truck sheet, he directed. He advised farmers not to bring their produce to the procurement godowns and wait unnecessarily for two to three days. He reassured farmers that there is no need for apprehension, and clarified that all sorghum meeting FAQ (Fair Average Quality) standards will be procured without fail.

43,021 ‘Golden Families' identified through P4 survey: Collector
Nandyal: District collector G Raja Kumari announced that 43,021 'Golden Families' have been identified in the district through the P4 (Public-Private-People Partnership) survey. The collector conducted a review meeting on various developmental activities following the Praja Parishkara Vedika (Public Grievance Redressal Forum) held at the PGRES Hall in the Collectorate on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, the collector said that the P4 survey aims to eradicate poverty by categorizing the wealthy individuals as 'guides' and the most impoverished as 'Golden Families'. 43,021 families have been classified as Golden Families in the district. She directed Mandal Tahsildars, Municipal Commissioners, and MPDOs to identify affluent individuals in their respective areas and register them as guides. She also encouraged district officials to take inspiration from Guide Families and extend help to the Golden Families. As part of this initiative, the Red Cross Society has come forward to support the Chenchu tribal families. The Collector also announced that a blood storage center would soon be established at the Minor Irrigation Office premises located at Canal Compound in Nandyal. Individuals could obtain a lifetime membership in the Red Cross Society by paying a fee of Rs.1,000. Additionally, paying Rs 12,000 would confer the title of Vice Patron, and Rs.25,000 would bestow the title of Patron. Patrons and Vice Patrons will receive certificates from the President, other members will be certified by the Governor. District officials were urged to enroll for lifetime membership by submitting Rs.1,000 along with an Aadhaar card and two passport-sized photographs. The Collector also mentioned that instead of sending files regarding AP Civil Supplies (APCAS) contractual appointments through the in-charge minister, steps would be taken to route them through the district collector for faster processing. Joint Collector C Vishnu Charan, DRO Ramu Naik, Deputy Collectors, and several district officials participated in the meeting.
