Integrate yoga into daily routines for better health: Collector Sumit Kumar
Chittoor: Chittoor district Collector Sumit Kumar stressed the importance of integrating yoga into daily routines, stating that regular yoga practice can prevent many health issues. Speaking at a yoga awareness programme held at Puligundu village in Penumuru mandal of GD Nellore constituency, the Collector highlighted the significance of yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being. The programme, organised under the Yoga Andhra initiative and coordinated by the District Tourism Department, saw the participation of Chittoor SP Manikantha Chandolu as the chief guest alongside the Collector. They both addressed the gathering and stressed the importance of yoga as a part of daily life. Collector Sumit Kumar mentioned that yoga awareness campaigns have already been conducted at prominent tourist locations like Kanipakam temple, and the current event at Puligundu witnessed the participation of over 2,300 people. So far, nearly 2.5 lakh people have registered under the Yogandhra 2025 initiative, reflecting the widespread interest. He further noted that practicing yoga for at least half an hour every day can significantly reduce mental stress and improve productivity. He urged everyone to make yoga a part of their daily schedule and emphasised that 5,000 trained yoga instructors are currently available across the district to support the initiative. SP Manikantha Chandolu shared practical tips for maintaining good health, such as getting sunlight exposure before 8 am for vitamin D, eating a diet rich in vegetables, breathing fresh air, and combining these practices with yoga for overall wellness. As part of the event, experienced yoga instructors explained the importance of yoga and demonstrated various asanas. The programme was attended by District Tourism Officer Gowri, DRDA PD Sridevi, DSDO Balaji, Chittoor RDO Srinivasulu, among others.

The event, held on the beach, saw the participation of 5,000 fishermen and an additional 2,000 local employees. The programme was inaugurated by MLA Shankar and the District Collector, marking a significant moment for community wellness initiatives in the region. The impressive turnout underscores the growing interest in yoga and holistic health practices among local residents.

Yogandhra organised at Ramnarayanam
Vizianagaram: As part of the State government's initiative to promote yoga in tourism places, Yogandhra programme was organised on Friday at Ramnarayanam, a spiritual tourist center in Vijayanagaram district. Minister Kondapalli Srinivas, district Collector Dr BR Ambedkar, and Joint Collector S Sethumadhavan, along with around 1,500 government officials, staff, health workers, and locals have attended the programme. The participants formed Ram Dhanush (bow) shape near the feet of Ramnarayanam temple and performed yoga asanas. Minister Srinivas said that yoga is a great asset passed down to us by our ancestors, and the Yoga Andhra program aims to create awareness about yoga among people. The programme was organised by the district administration and was a grand success, with participants from various walks of life coming together to promote yoga and wellness.

Walkers' Club felicitates meritorious students
The Walkers International (District-102), Regional Councillor-3, K. Satyam, on Thursday asked Walkers' Clubs across the State to actively support meritorious students as part of their charitable activities in Vizianagaram and other parts of the State. Mr. Satyam, along with Toshniwal Walkers Club President Vets Satyanarayana Murthy and others, distributed cash prizes and dictionaries to students who performed well in class 10 and intermediate examinations at a function held at Alakananda Park in Vizianagaram. He said that the initiative has motivated many walkers to support talented youth from marginalised families.' Mr. Satyama, a retired teacher, announced that through Walkers' Associations, yoga camps would be organised. These camps would cater to all age groups, including college students, to help them manage academic stress and improve their overall fitness. He thanked the government for launching the YogaAndhra programme which aims to teach the basics of yoga to everyone.

Police Yogandhra programme held in Vijayawada
On the occasion of Yogandhra 2025, a vibrant Police Yogandhra program took place at the BRTS Yoga Street in Vijayawada. The event saw participation from State Government Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, along with various IAS and IPS officers, who engaged in yoga asanas to promote the initiative. Speaking at the event, Vijayanand remarked that yoga serves as a divine medicine that harmonises the mind and body while enriching one's overall well-being. He emphasised the collective aspiration to integrate yoga into everyday life, highlighting that yoga programmes would be conducted across all 26 districts, each featuring a unique theme to foster enthusiasm and community spirit. The initiative aims to include all sectors of society—from farmers and students to workers—into the Yoga Andhra movement. Officials announced plans for awareness and training programmes to introduce at least two crore individuals in the state to yoga, adhering to a 45-minute simple yoga common protocol developed by experts. In a move to promote yoga's benefits, special programmes are set to take place in approximately 100 tourist destinations throughout the state. Additionally, every village and town will host Yoga Andhra events, with four tourist locations in each district designated to showcase the advantages of yoga. Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand also confirmed that celebrations for International Yoga Day will be held in Visakhapatnam on June 21. The Police Yogandhra programme in Vijayawada witnessed participation from around five thousand police officers, staff, and yoga enthusiasts. Among those in attendance were Special Chief Secretary (Health, Medical and Family Welfare) MT Krishnababu, Health and Family Welfare Commissioner Veerapandian, CCLA, NTR District Special Officer G. Jayalakshmi, AYUSH Director K. Dinesh Kumar, NTR District Collector Dr. Lakshmi, and Police Commissioner SV Rajasekhara Babu.
