THE royals went green yesterday as the Trooping The Colour flypast featured nine Red Arrow jets powered by sustainable aviation fuel.
After the planes tore down The Mall and over Buckingham Palace — leaving their famous red, white and blue smoke trails — details were released of the historic moment.

The Red Arrows used a 40 per cent blend of sustainable aviation fuel and normal jet fuel.
Sustainable aviation fuel is typically made from waste cooking oils.
A renewable biofuel, made from hydro-treated vegetable oil that does not release new carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, was used to create smoke trails.
It is thought to be the first time anywhere in the world that the two environmentally friendly fuels were used at the same time by a national aerobatic team.
It comes after we exclusively revealed the Red Arrows have 13 working jets and may be down to six by 2028.
An aide to the King said: 'The King will obviously be delighted to hear about the RAF use of sustainable aviation fuel. He has been encouraging wider use on royal flights where possible and practical.
'His Majesty hopes to be an early adopter whose example will encourage wider use across the aviation sector.'
Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales took a front row royal seat as she returned to full participation in Trooping the Colour — while also keeping a watchful eye on her three children.
Kate, 43, shared a dais at Horse Guards Parade with the King, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77, after being forced to watch much of last year's event backstage as she was recovering from cancer.
She could not resist tapping her feet to the military music on parade and glancing over at hubby Prince William, 42, who was on horseback alongside Prince Edward and Princess Anne.
On the eve of last year's bash, she apologised to the Irish Guards — who were trooping their colour — for not being able to represent them.
But Kate was back yesterday and arrived at Horse Guards Parade resplendent in turquoise with her three children George, 11, Charlotte, ten, and seven-year-old Louis.
The family waved at adoring crowds who had camped out for hours to see their favourite royals as they were taken in an open-top Ascot Landau carriage from Buckingham Palace up The Mall to the parade ground.
Louis had to be held back by an aide as he tried to scamper into the Major General's Office to watch proceedings from a second floor window.
In there, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, took over child control.
But all three youngsters were on best behaviour and respectfully bowed their heads each time the Coldstream Guards passed below with their colours taking the Royal Salute.

Prince William, in bearskin hat, again sported the beard he grew ten months ago for the first time at Trooping the Colour — after the Army changed its rules, allowing soldiers to appear with facial hair.
The King, for the second successive year, took part in a carriage rather than on horseback, due to his ongoing cancer treatment.
Beforehand, a minute's silence was held by all royals, soldiers and 8,000 spectators for Air India victims.
Charles had ordered royals, senior officers and coachmen to wear black armbands.
Spectators included PM Sir Keir Starmer and Defence Secretary John Healey.

Meghan released her As Ever Napa Valley Rose 2024 – described as evoking the same "soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality, and a lasting finish" as the 2023 rose – on Tuesday. It comes after the previous rose, launched last month, sold out within an hour. In a video posted on her Instagram, Meghan can be seen uncorking a bottle marked "Bottle #1" in front of bouquets of pink and cream flowers – followed by close-up of the cork bearing the As Ever logo. Alongside the clip, she wrote: "Here we go! First bottle off the line! "Toasting to a beautiful day: Our Napa rose is live @aseverofficial." As with the previous wine, the beverage is priced at more than £67 for a minimum three-bottle order – and only appeared to be available for US customers to buy, with shipping addresses limited to America. As Ever is Meghan's lifestyle brand which also sells cookie mix, herb tea, flower sprinkles and jams. A post on the company's Instagram show the corks branded with the As Ever logo, with a caption reading: "C'est l'heure. "Enjoy your last sips of summer with the newest vintage of our beloved Napa Valley rose." The website describes the drink as "thoughtfully curated by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex" and that it has been "made to be enjoyed with the ones you love". The pale pink wine, which comes in a clear bottle with a white, gold-rimmed label, has an ABV (alcohol by volume) of 13.5% – one percent lower than its predecessor. As with the 2023 rose, the newest wine is not available to buy in orders of less than three bottles. Three bottles cost 90 US dollars (around £67), six bottles cost 159 dollars (around £119) including a 12% discount, and 12 bottles are priced at 300 dollars (around £225) including a 17% discount. Meghan and the Duke of Sussex left the UK and moved to California five years ago for a new life after stepping down from the working monarchy. Tower Bridge and Cutty Sark on Big Half finisher medal designed with refugees
The Coopah Refugee Run Club partners with charities to help migrants settle into life in the UK through local run clubs, personalised coaching, community support, and life-long access to the Coopah training app. Some of its members have helped to create the medal and long-sleeved T-shirt designs which include interlocking rings to represent the diverse journeys that will unite at the Big Half on Sunday September 7. The 13.1 mile route starts close to Tower Bridge and finishes beside the Cutty Sark in Greenwich. Rawand Gurun, 28, who works for the NHS after studying nursing, moved to the UK from Kurdistan during the Covid-19 pandemic. He was volunteering for a homeless charity when he met Coopah co-founder, Dan Strang, who introduced him to the Refugee Run Club. Initially unable to run 5km in one go, Mr Gurun became a regular at the Brueton Park parkrun in Solihull, West Midlands, and completed the 2024 TCS London Marathon. 'I love the running culture in the UK,' he said. 'People you run with become close friends and you're all supporting each other. 'Running is free and available whenever you want. It's not about being the best. It's just about gradually increasing your mileage and improving your lifestyle.' Mr Gurun added: 'Taking part in events is not just about getting a medal – it's the feeling of people cheering you on, so we wanted to show how you feel that support and how joyful it makes you. 'We also wanted to include some London landmarks like the Cutty Sark. It feels big when you run past certain places and it affects you emotionally.' Paul Mwila, 41, who came to the UK from Zambia in 2022, is awaiting a final decision on his residency from the Home Office. 'Coopah's run club has kept me afloat during really difficult times. So many of the experiences I've had are thanks to them,' he said. 'I've met so many people, been to new places, and found a community.' Mr Mwila, who lives at a hotel assigned by the Home Office, ran through the streets of Crystal Palace at 4am when he first came to London so that nobody would see him. In 2023, he met Coopah's Andrew Laidlaw in a hotel lobby and, soon afterwards, Mr Mwila joined his first group run at Crystal Palace parkrun. He ran his first marathon, the 2025 TCS London Marathon in April. 'Running will be part of my life for as long as my legs let me – hopefully a long, long time,' he said. He was delighted to be part of the design team, adding: 'We wanted to show how the landmarks connect to our lives, and that no matter what you're going through, difficult times always come to an end.' The Big Half starts near Tower Bridge which features on the 2025 medal for finishers (Yui Mok/PA) More than 280 local community groups based in the four host boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Lewisham, Southwark and Greenwich, will take part in The Big Half which offers discounted entry fees of £25 (compared to the standard £56) to encourage wider access to running. More than 25,000 participants are registered to take part in the Big Half festival of running on September 7, which also includes the Big Mile, a family-friendly one-mile event, and the New Balance Big Relay, in which teams of four complete 3.1 miles each of the half-marathon route. Entries for 2025 are sold out. Among those taking part are 40 women from Sole Striders, a female-only community and run club which was founded in 2024. Sanaa Qureshi, senior community engagement manager at London Marathon Events which organises the Big Half, said: 'Community and inclusivity is at the heart of the Big Half. 'We are proud to work with groups like Coopah's Refugee Run Club and Sole Striders – particularly given their work with migrant and refugee communities and women across London, groups we know are often marginalised when it comes to access to sport and physical activity.'
