Al Hussein, Ramtha impress in Pro League first round

AMMAN — The first round of the 73rd edition of the CFI Jordan Pro League saw a dominant start by reigning champions Al Hussein Irbid, who kicked off their campaign with a 5–2 victory over Ahli at Al Hasan Stadium in Irbid. The match was largely controlled by Al Hussein, especially in the second half, reflecting the team's strong summer transfer activity. Al Hussein opened with two goals, but Ahli managed to level the score — once before the end of the first half and again in the 70th minute through Mohammad Shatti. The response was swift, as Al Hussein regained the lead five minutes later and sealed the win with two goals in stoppage time by Mohammad Deeb. The result placed them at the top of the table, ahead of Al Baqaa who secured a 2–0 win over Sama Sarhan. The highlight fixture of the round saw Ramtha stun Wehdat 1-0 at King Abdullah II Stadium in Amman. Veteran forward Hamza Dardour scored the winner in the 63rd minute, silencing the home crowd and delivering a statement performance for Ramtha. Faisali, the record 35-time title holders, completed the round with a 2–1 win over Jazira. Despite going a man down in the 76th minute, they managed to score the decisive goal just a minute later, securing all three points. This season introduces a new format to the Jordanian top flight, with the number of participating clubs reduced to ten and the league being played over three stages instead of two. The revamped structure is expected to increase competitiveness and intensity across the season.
