Mock drill held on disaster preparedness in Hyderabad
An officer of TGICCC stationed at Book 'N' More Library and Activity Centre, Tukaramgate PS limits, Secunderabad made a call on Dial-112 (National Helpline Number) regarding a building collapse on Wednesday at 3 pm resulting in two deaths and 15 injuries.
The alert received at TGiCCC Control Room was immediately passed on to the Control Rooms of various departments for immediate action.
As per the SoS message flashed from TGICCC, the 108 Ambulances, L&O and Traffic Police reached the spot within 10-15 minutes and initiated relief and rescue operations by barricading the area and diverted the traffic, facilitating easy movement for emergency services.
The DRF team, NDRF, SDRF, Fire tenders, Revenue, TGSPDCL, HMWS&SB officials reached the incident spot within 20-30 minutes and actively participated in the mock drill, providing rescue and relief operations.
The exercise was carried out under the supervision of Heads of the concerned Departments and other senior officers. Throughout the drill, TGiCCC & MAOC officers monitored and documented every development, ensuring structured command response.
A post-drill review session was held at the War Room, where participating departments analysed the execution, identified strengths, gaps, and areas for improvement. It was decided that mock drills for various disaster scenarios will be conducted periodically which will enhance the preparedness and response of various departments involved in disaster management.
A consolidated performance report of the mock drill, along with photographic and video documentation, has been compiled by the TGiCCC. The insights drawn will be utilised to refine SOPs, enhance training, and ensure robust disaster response mechanisms across the state.
This mock drill underlines the Government's commitment to safeguarding public life and property through proactive disaster preparedness and integrated emergency management.
The officers from Police Commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad & Rachakonda (L&0 and Traffic), Fire Services & Disaster Management, NDRF, GHMC, HYDRA, HMWS&SB, Health, Medical & Family Welfare, SDMA, I&PR, TGSPDCL, and Hyderabad District Collectorate were present.

At least 15 workers injured as under-construction structure collapses in Maharashtra's Nagpur
At least 15 workers were injured on Saturday when a part of an under-construction gate collapsed on the Khaparkheda–Koradi Temple route in Maharashtra's Nagpur. Inspector Krupal Mule of the 5th Battalion, Pune NDRF, said the structure had already collapsed when their team reached the site.(ANI) Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) Chairman Sanjay Meena said the rescue and clearance operations are ongoing. The initial reports suggest that the vibrations from the construction equipment may have triggered the collapse, he said, adding that no fatalities have been reported so far. '15-16 people were injured. There are no grievous injuries. They are in the hospital. The collector has given his official statement. Construction work of Koradi temple was ongoing here. Contractors under NMRDA were working here. How this happened can be spoken about only after a complete inquiry. We will have a detailed inquiry. There are no casualties so far,' Sanjay Meena said. The NDRF and police have commenced a rescue operation and clearing a huge pile of debris. The incident occurred between 8.00 and 8.15 pm on the Khaparkheda–Koradi Temple road. Nagpur district magistrate Vipin Itankar told ANI, 'When RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) for the slab was being put in, it collapsed. The labourers who were working suffered minor injuries. They were 15-16 in number. Some have been shifted to Nandini Hospital, and some to Max Hospital.' NDRF says it has rescued all trapped people Nagpur district magistrate said, 'As per protocol, NDRF, Police Department and Revenue Department are present here. The debris is being removed with the help of machines.' He also appealed to the public not to circulate misinformation. 'I have a request that the rumours should not be spread that there are so many 50 people, 15-16 have been shifted and have minor injuries, and the work of removing the debris is going on.' Inspector Krupal Mule of the 5th Battalion, Pune NDRF, said the structure had already collapsed when their team reached the site. Mule told ANI, 'When the team of 5 Battalion NDRF reached here, the structure had completely collapsed. When we asked, we were told that everyone who was working here was injured, but all of them were rescued. Nobody was found trapped here. We first conducted a physical search here, followed by a canine search. There doesn't seem to be anyone trapped here so far. But we will first have to clear the debris, and only after that can a comment be made…' When asked about the cause of the collapse, he said, 'It is being said that construction work was ongoing and due to vibrations (of equipment), it all collapsed at once. Days after a natural disaster in the small Himalayan town of Uttarakhand's Dharali, a woman survivor tied a rakhi to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami a touching symbol of gratitude, trust, and the timeless bond between a brother and sister, reported ANI. The woman, identified as Dhangauri Barauliya, a resident of Ishanpur in Ahmedabad, had come with her family for the sacred Gangotri pilgrimage. She tied the Rakhi to Dhami when the state CM when the latter arrived to inspect the affected areas. In the torrential waters and landslide debris, families were left stranded in an unfamiliar land, hundreds of kilometres from home. Dhangauri Barauliya was one of them. But with the rescue operations began, rescuers evacuated Dhangauri and her family to safety. During the on-ground inspection of the affected areas by Dhami, Dhangauri approached the CM in tears and tore the border of her dupatta and tied it around Dhami's wrist as a rakhi. You have been with us for three days, ensuring our safety and looking after our needs.' The soulful Rakshabandhan moment moved everyone present to tears. On Friday, a bridge collapsed about 3 km ahead of Gangnani in Uttarkashi, which led to a road blockage and disruption of movement in the area, ANI quoted police as saying. The Uttarakhand Police said that Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has begun construction of a new bridge to restore connectivity, while the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has set up an alignment using steel wire and will assist the BRO in crossing the stream (Gadre) to expedite the work. Following the devastating cloudburst and heavy rainfall, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) ramped up its rescue effort and deployed 18 teams across the state in response to adverse weather and flood-related incidents, said NDRF Deputy Inspector General Mohsen Shahedi on Thursday. Uttarkashi flash floods: 58 including 8 army personnel still missing, says NDRF
UTTARKASHI: Rescue operations continued in the flood-ravaged Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand on Thursday, with over 372 people rescued from the Harsil-Dharali region, officials said. Efforts are underway to assist 140 people stranded in the Gangotri Dham area. The toll from the disaster remained unclear. 'Four teams of NDRF are at the spot, working actively... Eight army personnel and over 50 locals are still missing after Uttarkashi flash floods,' National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) deputy inspector general (DIG) Mohsen Shahidi said, according to news agency PTI. According to the Uttarakhand police, 372 people have been rescued from Dharali-Harsil, including 260 who were evacuated by helicopter to Malti. The others were airlifted to Dehradun on Chinook and MI-17 helicopters operated by the Indian Air Force (IAF). Officials said the helicopters had conducted about 93 sorties through the day. Of the rescued locals, 13 individuals were brought to the Matli area of Uttarkashi. Among them, three critically injured civilians were shifted to AIIMS Rishikesh, two to the Military Hospital in Dehradun, and eight are receiving treatment at the District Hospital in Uttarkashi, the army said in a statement. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) officials said that over 400 people, including nearly 300 pilgrims and 100 local traders, were stranded in the Gangotri Dham area. On Thursday, 260 of them were rescued, officials said. Currently, over 450 personnel from the army, ITBP, NDRF, SDRF, and state police are engaged in rescue and search operations. An additional 814 rescuers are awaiting road clearance to reach the affected areas in Dharali, according to state government officials. NDRF officials also said that cadaver dogs have joined the rescue operations to locate bodies. 'Apart from the cadaver dogs who will help us find the dead, we have four sniffer dogs who can sniff out survivors,' NDRF DIG Gambhir Singh Chauhan was quoted as saying by PTI. Connectivity to Dharali from Uttarkashi, nearly 80 km away, remains severely disrupted at multiple locations, including Batwadi, Linchigad, and Gangnani, among others. Restoration work is being carried out on a war footing, said disaster management secretary Vinod Kumar Suman. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inspected the disaster-affected areas of Pauri Garhwal on Thursday. 'In this difficult hour of disaster, I stand with every affected family as a son and brother. On behalf of the state government, every possible assistance is being ensured for those impacted,' he said in a post on X. Meanwhile, in Haridwar, heavy rainfall over the past 48 hours has caused significant damage to the region's infrastructure. Officials said at least three houses in Ghosipura village of Manglaur block collapsed due to incessant rains. In Khanpur, a portion of the outer wall at the ancient Jata Shankar Mahadev temple collapsed after a heavy downpour. Temple committee members said that around 100 metres of the wall collapsed, but no injuries were reported. At the shrine Mata Sureshwari Devi in the Ranipur area of Haridwar, movement of pilgrims has been prohibited due to the rising water level of the Rau rivulet. The Central Water Commission's hydro observatory reported the Ganga river level at Bhimgoda Barrage at 292.65 metres at 3pm on Wednesday –– just below the warning level of 293 metres. 'Hourly updates on Ganga's water level are being shared with the Uttar Pradesh irrigation department and Haridwar district administration to ensure timely alerts and launch of rescue or relief operations, if needed,' said Harish Kumar, junior engineer with the UP irrigation department. Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Pauri Garhwal district, five labourers from Nepal are missing after they were swept away by a surging stream in Bankura village of Pauri Garhwal district on Wednesday. The labourers were identified as Narendra Khadka (40), Amita Parihar (40), Vimal Vila (21), Sadhya Sadka (35), and Roman Khadka (18). District disaster management officer (DDMO), Pauri Garhwal, Dipesh Chandra Kala said, 'The search for the missing labourers is still underway. But there has been no trace of them so far.'
