
IPO-bound Oyo seeks to rename parent firm to pursue premiumisation

has invited name suggestions for its parent firm Oravel Stays, in a strategic move as the global travel tech platform prepares to launch its IPO and looks to have more premium segment offerings.
There is a high possibility that the name chosen through the exercise may end up being the name of the
premium hotels app
that Oyo has been working to launch in the near future, people familiar with the strategy told PTI.
Agarwal took to social media platforms to seek name suggestions to help craft a "new identity".
"We're renaming the corporate brand behind it all. Not the hotel chain, not a consumer product -- but the parent company powering a global ecosystem of urban innovation and modern living. We believe it's time the world had a new kind of global brand -- born in India, but built for the world," the Oyo founder said in the post on Thursday.
Agarwal shared that it should be a bold, one-word corporate name, global in feel, not tied to one culture or language, tech-forward, sharp, but also human and memorable, and broad enough to grow beyond hospitality, preferably with a .com domain available.

PTI had reported that Oyo has arranged for five investment banks to give a crucial presentation to its key shareholder

in June at the latter's London office on Grosvenor Street, that could determine the company's path to public listing, as it eyes launching an IPO in the last quarter of the current fiscal.
"Oyo is actively exploring launching a separate app for its premium hotels and mid-market to premium company-serviced hotels as the segment has seen exponential growth across India as well as its global markets. There is a very high possibility that the name being selected may end up being the name of the premium hotels app that Oyo has been working to launch in near future," said people familiar with the matter.

Earlier, the company, which specialises in premium nuts, dried fruits, and ice cream, informed exchanges that its board of directors approved the investment in Hamma Foods Private Limited and BVK Foods Private Limited. The investment was made through its subsidiary company by subscribing to 49 per cent of the total paid-up share capital. The stock has given a multibagger return of 279 per cent in five years and has gained 68 per cent in one year. It has surged over 50 per cent so far this year. However, the stock has corrected by 4.71 per cent in the last month. Meanwhile, equity benchmark indices climbed in early trade on Tuesday, extending their previous day's gap-up opening. The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 203.44 points to 81,477.19 in early trade. The 50-share NSE Nifty went up by 53.4 points to 24,930.35. From the Sensex firms, Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, Adani Ports, NTPC, Titan and Infosys were the major gainers. However, Bajaj Finance, Bharat Electronics, Mahindra & Mahindra and HCL Tech were among the laggards.

Govt panel starts drafting rules for refurbished medical device imports
An inter-departmental high-level committee of the central government has begun discussions on new rules to regulate the entry of refurbished or second-hand medical devices into India. Valued at Rs 1,500 crore, industry executives estimate that the pre-owned medical equipment market accounts for around 10 per cent of the total medical equipment industry in the country. Sources told Business Standard that while only a couple of meetings have taken place so far, the committee is reviewing data related to the pre-owned or refurbished devices market. Officials confirmed that the panel includes representatives from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), the Department of Pharmaceuticals, and industry stakeholders. This follows a communication by CDSCO to the Principal Commissioner of Customs in January 2025, acknowledging that there was no specific regulation for refurbished devices under the Medical Devices Rules (MDR), 2017. 'MDR 2017 has a provision for import of medical devices and the requirements are well set for this. The regulation does not differentiate between new and refurbished medical devices,' a health ministry official said. Currently, such imports are allowed through no-objection certificates from an expert committee of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC). The approvals are limited to 38 high-end and high-value (HEHV) medical equipment items listed by the DGHS. Imports are subject to conditions such as ensuring that equipment has not been phased out in the exporting country, contains no hazardous materials, and has a residual life of at least seven years. 'Major points to be discussed by the committee may include the service time of second-hand devices eligible for import or allowing only very expensive, high-end critical care equipment,' an official said. Confirming the development, MoEFCC sources said that while existing MDR provisions do not cover refurbished equipment, the health ministry is drafting regulatory mechanisms to support ease of doing business in the sector. 'MoHFW has shared a draft proposal with MoEFCC for comments,' the person added. Pre-owned medical devices largely include robotic-assisted surgery systems, linear accelerators, and CT scanners, which help meet demand in Tier-II, Tier-III, Tier-IV cities and underserved areas. While proponents argue that refurbished alternatives provide affordable solutions for smaller cities, several lobby groups and domestic manufacturers have urged the ministry to stop unregulated imports of high-risk second-hand medical equipment citing patient safety concerns. The Patient Safety and Access Initiative of India Foundation (PSAIIF), a Delhi-based not-for-profit organisation, has also filed a public interest litigation in the Delhi High Court, raising concerns over the reliability of these devices and risks to patient safety.

Hyundai Motor India shares soar 12% in 2 days to hit new all-time high amid surge in trade volumes
Hyundai Motor India shares extended their rally on Tuesday, hitting a new all-time high of Rs 2,511.20 on the BSE, after surging 12.2% over the past two sessions amid heightened trading volumes. Market data showed increased activity in the counter, with volumes surging well above the two-week average. Turnover stood at Rs 15.96 crore, while traded quantity came in at 0.65 lakh shares versus the two-week average of 0.40 lakh, as of 10:20 am. At current levels, the company commands a market capitalization of Rs 2,02,241.48 crore and a free-float market cap of Rs 35,391.85 crore. Hyundai Motor India Q1 results For the quarter ended June 30, 2025, Hyundai Motor India reported an 8% year-on-year (YoY) drop in consolidated net profit to Rs 1,369.23 crore, compared with Rs 1,489.65 crore in the same period last year.
