Chiranjeevi recalls story of a woman who defended him against a politician: 'I am a soft target for money'
Teja Sajja
. While speaking at the event, the veteran actor shared a moving anecdote about how his charitable efforts once led a woman to stand up for him, not as a fan of his movies, but as someone whose life he unknowingly touched through his blood bank initiative.
Chiranjeevi on post-politics remarks
Without naming names, Chiranjeevi revealed that even after exiting politics, a political leader made unkind remarks about him. 'I am a soft target for money. Even after I stepped away from politics, a politician said something untoward about me,' he said.
What surprised him most was how a woman from a village had boldly confronted the politician during a campaign. 'One day, when he went to a particular region to campaign, a middle-aged lady stood up to him and asked how he could say such things about me,' the actor recalled.
She wasn't a 'mass' fan, and that made Chiranjeevi curious
Chiranjeevi admitted that her support piqued his interest, especially because she didn't fit the profile of his usual mass fan following. 'I looked at her and wondered why she was doing that, because she did not seem like my usual mass fan,' he said. When he enquired further, he found out she admired him not for his onscreen work but for the man he is off-screen. 'It touched my heart,' Chiranjeevi shared.

Her son survived thanks to the blood bank
The woman had a very personal reason to come to his defense. Years ago, her child was critically ill with dengue in a village near Rajahmundry and urgently needed platelets. With no help in sight, she reached out to Chiranjeevi's blood bank in Hyderabad. His team of fans acted immediately, helping save her son's life.
'She reached out to my blood bank in Hyderabad and received help immediately from my fans in Rajahmundry.
Her child is eight years old now,' he said, his voice filled with emotion.
'Trolls don't affect me, my work will speak for itself'
Touching upon the negativity he sometimes faces online, Chiranjeevi made it clear that he is unfazed by social media trolling. 'A lot of people ask me how I feel when people troll and attack me on social media. I feel like I don't need to defend myself; the good I've done will speak for me,' he stated.
On the work front
Chiranjeevi was last seen in the 2023 films Waltair Veerayya and Bholaa Shankar. Up next, he will headline Vishwambhara, directed by Vassishta, with the release date yet to be announced. He has also signed upcoming projects with directors Anil Ravipudi and Srikanth Odela.
