Woke sexual harassment poster that shows a white woman groping a disabled black person sparks outcry
The sign was put up in an outdoor swimming pool in the western town of Büren with the caption: 'Stop! Grabbing is forbidden.'
At the bottom of the poster, a turtle wearing goggles and rubber armbands tells the reader: 'If something doesn't feel right, you have the right to call for help by calling out my name: Tiki!'
Several signs were put up to spread awareness about sexual assault as part of the 'Summer Sun Safety' campaign.
The campaign comes after a group of Syrian men were arrested for groping girls at a swimming pool in the nearby region of Hessen.
One of the posters, depicting a white woman groping a black boy with a prosthetic leg, sparked outrage - with critics saying it must be a 'bad joke'.
They said it was an attempt to make a politically correct statement about sexual harassment by making the perpetrator a white woman and giving the victim a physical disability.
Official German statistics show that men are responsible for the overwhelming majority of sexual assaults in outdoor swimming pools.
The debate has now caught international attention. Right-wing conservative US activist Charlie Kirk, a supporter and close confidant of President Donald Trump, wrote on X: 'Germany has a problem with Third World migrant men groping German women'
In 2024, 237 out of 367 recorded incidents were also committed by foreigners.
Rainer Wendt, the head of the German police union, warned the poster would likely embolden the far-Right Alternative for Germany [AfD] party, which is a vocal campaigner against 'woke' values.
'This campaign has only one winner, the AfD. But there are many losers: women and girls. Their dire situation is being ridiculed,' he told the German tabloid Bild.
Manfred Pentz, the European affairs minister for the state of Hessen, said: 'After the incidents we've recently experienced here, this must be a bad joke, which makes a mockery of those who have been affected.
'If it doesn't fit into their world view, it isn't allowed. Simply unbelievable.'
The city of Büren apologised for any offence caused by the poster and said it had not meant to upset victims of sexual harassment, or to play down the issue.
'The city takes seriously the public criticism of design elements of the campaign, Summer Sun Security.' a spokesman said.
'The occasion is an opportunity for reflection by the city administration. We are re-evaluating our communication methods and they will be more sensitive, and different, in the future.'
The debate has now caught international attention.
Right-wing conservative US activist Charlie Kirk, a supporter and close confidant of President Donald Trump, wrote on X: 'Germany has a problem with Third World migrant men groping German women.
'So the German government has put up a PSA warning about white women groping vulnerable immigrant men who also have prosthetic legs for some reason.'

Charlie Kirk calls for ‘full military occupation' of American cities ‘once we liberate DC'
MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk celebrated President Donald Trump's 'Liberation Day' takeover of the nation's capital by calling for the Trump administration to unleash a 'full military occupation' of other large American cities 'once we liberate' Washington, D.C. In what appeared to be spurred by the recent late-night attack on former DOGE employee Edward 'Big Balls' Coristine, who was allegedly assaulted during an attempted carjacking, Trump announced on Monday that he was deploying 800 National Guard troops and temporarily taking control of Washington's police department to fight crime in the city. 'Our capital city has been overtaken by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals, roving mobs of wild youth, drugged out maniacs and homeless people, and we're not going to let it happen anymore,' Trump exclaimed on Monday. Despite violent crime falling for two straight years in Washington under the current chief of police, the president likened the city to the 'worst places on Earth' while repeatedly framing it as a dystopian hellscape. Having already deployed thousands of National Guard troops to Los Angeles earlier this summer to quell protests that erupted over his immigration raids, Trump also suggested that other large cities in Democratic-led states – such as New York City and Chicago – could be next. At the same time, as the New York Times noted, the president did not mention cities in red states with much higher murder rates than Washington, and he also ignored the 'most violent episode' in the capital's recent history – the January 6 Capitol riots. Shortly after returning to office in January, Trump issued a blanket pardon of hundreds of rioters, many of whom had been convicted of violent crimes and were serving time in prison. During his podcast on Monday, Kirk – one of the president's most loyal media acolytes and founder of the MAGA youth organization Turning Point USA – urged Trump to send more American military forces into other cities in short order, claiming it would create favorable press coverage. 'I guarantee the crime's gonna go… way down,' he proclaimed. 'And then the media will say, oh, it's only going down because he brought in the military. Exactly. We need full military occupation of these cities until the crime desists. Period.' Claiming 'we have a big teenage problem of crime in our country,' Kirk specifically spotlighted Chicago as a problem area before demanding that more teenagers be given decades-long prison sentences for auto thefts. 'Simple fix. You steal a car, 25 years in prison,' the pro-Trump pundit raged. 'I don't care if you're a teenager. I don't care if — well, I was raised without a dad. Well, you're going to go meet a new dad in jail. We're done. We're not putting up with it. We need more prisons, and we need more prisoners.' Kirk also rebuked his own support for Trump's criminal justice reforms during the first administration, saying it was a 'totally wrong premise' and it now makes him 'cringe at myself.' Instead, he said the country needs 'the humiliation of criminals' and to 'stop coddling criminals because they happen to be a protected class,' claiming that 'we don't believe in protected classes' in America anymore. 'Game over. No more protected classes,' Kirk proclaimed. 'We are all citizens made in the image of God. Oh, you're a protected class because, you know, different skin color. Wrong. That regime was defeated back in November.' Kirk, who recently slammed the White House's push to deem marijuana a less dangerous drug, further warned Trump not to just have the military 'symbolically' occupy Washington, calling for a true show of force in the nation's capital. 'Now, again, I want to say, President Donald Trump, he's gotta go play to win here,' the right-wing activist said. 'The one piece of caution we'd have to say is that if we just kind of do this symbolically, we will lose. The criminals will win. We got to go hard. We gotta go big league. We're talking National Guard, tanks — every street, you need military.' Kirk – whose rhetoric has grown more extreme and racially charged in recent years – also advised conservatives to push back on any criticism that 'Trump is a fascist because he's bringing the military' by calling the president's detractors 'anarchists' in response. 'We're not fascist. We're order. Call them a name right back,' he bellowed. 'You're an anarchist. You want the criminals, the thugs, the gang members, and the worst of society to run the streets of D.C.' After downplaying the Capitol riots as nothing more than people who wanted to 'go say a prayer in the U.S. Capitol' in order to mock the use of the National Guard after January 6, Kirk then concluded by name-checking which cities he wants to see under military occupation. 'Once we liberate D.C., you better believe it — Chicago, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco. We got a big military. We should be willing to use it,' he stated.

Charlie Kirk smokes Trump over push to reclassify marijuana as less dangerous drug: ‘Everything already smells like weed'
MAGA podcaster Charlie Kirk had a social media outburst over reports that President Donald Trump is considering reclassifying marijuana as a less dangerous drug, complaining that 'everything already smells like weed.' The conservative pundit and founder of Turning Point USA took to X to speak out against the change reportedly being considered by the Trump Administration. 'I hope this doesn't happen. We need to protect public spaces for kids. Everything already smells like weed, which is ridiculous. Let's make it harder to ruin public spaces, not easier,' Kirk wrote in response to a Wall Street Journal report claiming Trump was considering a reclassification. Marijuana is currently considered a Schedule I drug, a category it shares with heroin, ecstasy and LSD. The Drug Enforcement Administration defines Schedule I as a 'drug with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.' The push to reclassify marijuana, which has been legalized for recreational use in 24 states, goes back to former President Joe Biden's administration. During a $1 million-a-plate fundraiser at Trump's New Jersey golf course earlier this month, he told attendees he was interested in reclassifying the drug. Guests at the fundraiser included Kim Rivers, the chief executive of Trulieve, one of the largest marijuana companies, people familiar with the matter told The Journal. During the event, Rivers reportedly encouraged Trump to pursue the change and expand medical marijuana research, the report claimed. The effort would reclassify marijuana as a Schedule III drug, which wouldn't make the drug entirely legal, but it would ease restrictions on it, according to the report. It would also allow for tax breaks for some marijuana companies and open the door for additional medical research. In response to Kirk's tweet, social media users uncovered a post the conservative commentator penned in 2018 that read, 'People should not go to prison for using, producing, or selling marijuana.'

Trump calls for new US census that excludes undocumented immigrants
Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he has ordered the commerce department to conduct a new census that would exclude undocumented immigrants from the official count. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the census would be 'based on modern day facts and figures' and use 'results and information gained from the Presidential Election of 2024'. He added that 'people who are in our country illegally will not be counted'. The US census has historically counted all residents regardless of citizenship or immigration status, as required by the 14th amendment's 'whole number of persons' provision. Trump's directive contradicts this constitutional requirement despite there being no evidence of problems with the 2020 census. The move would fulfil a longstanding rightwing talking point that undocumented immigrants should not influence congressional representation or electoral votes. Far-right figures have long claimed that states like California gain unfair political advantage by counting non-citizens. The political activist Charlie Kirk, for example, argued in 2020 that 'California gets an extra 9 electoral votes because of counting illegals.' Census data determines congressional representation, electoral college apportionment and the distribution of federal funding for schools, hospitals and other essential services. States with large non-citizen populations – particularly California, Texas, Florida and New York – could see their political influence and federal resources sharply reduced under Trump's proposed changes. Legal and immigration advocates have also long stressed that restricting the census to citizens could depress participation among legal immigrants, who are alreadyundercounted because they may be more reluctant to engage with government authorities. The US Census Bureau's own reviews found the 2020 count was accurate, with a net error rate of just -0.24%, which they say is statistically indistinguishable from zero. The Government Accountability Office noted in a 2024 report that the 2020 census produced a statistically accurate count of the US population at the national level, with no significant net coverage error. Republican lawmakers in both the House and Senate have pushed for citizenship-only counts on the census, with the most recent effort coming from Senator Bill Hagerty of Tennessee reintroducing legislation in late June, co-sponsored by 18 Senate Republicans. Named the Equal Representation Act, it would require only citizens to be counted for congressional and electoral purposes, while mandating citizenship questions on future censuses. 'It is unconscionable that illegal immigrants and non-citizens are counted toward congressional district apportionment and our electoral map for the presidency,' Hagerty said at the time. Similar efforts in 2019 during Trump's first presidency were blocked by courts and later reversed by Biden in 2021. The supreme court ruled such attempts premature and legally uncertain. Ironically, the census is actually set to widen in 2030 after the Biden administration approved adding 'Middle Eastern or North African' as a new racial category – the first major change since 1977. The census directive is part of broader efforts targeting undocumented immigrants since Trump took office. The administration has set a goal of deporting 1 million immigrants annually and reportedly established daily arrest quotas of 1,200 to 1,500 individuals. According to 2024 Department of Homeland Security estimates, approximately 11 million undocumented immigrants were living in the US as of 2022.
