Motoring experts have outline seven of the common items lefts by Brits in cars that they say really shouldn't in the heat.

The advice comes at a perfect time as warmer weather is forecast across the UK in coming weeks.
Drivers therefore should be careful about what they leave in the vehicles throughout the summer.
Dangers of hot cars
Leaving windows slightly open, while an easy option that can be more convenient, is not always enough.
On top of that, car experts suggest that car interiors can become dangerously hot within minutes.
And while "most drivers know not to leave pets or children in hot cars", there are other items to consider in their potential to cause hazards.
John Wilmot, CEO of car leasing comparison site LeaseLoco, adds: 'As temperatures rise, it's important to think twice before leaving anything behind in your vehicle that could melt, warp, overheat or even pose a fire risk.'
This is especially when they are left on the dashboard or seats in direct sunlight.
Items not to be left in hot cars
1. Mobile Phones
Phones are highly sensitive to heat, and therefore can quickly over heat if left in the sun.
Car interiors can also reach over double the temperature outside when the weather is warm.

Exposure to heat, such as being left in a hot car, can cause quick degradation to a phone's battery.
The device is then also likely to overheat, and may even trigger automatic shutdowns or permanent internal damage.
In extreme cases, overheated mobile phones can present a fire risk.
2. Medication
Many medical pills are high sensitive to temprature.
These include medications like insulin and certain antibiotics, which should be kept in the fridge, as well as common children's medicine Calpol, which should be kept below 25 degrees Celsius.
The effectiveness of a drug can be reduced when exposed to high temperatures.
They may even become unsafe to use.
You should always make sure to read the packaging and follow the instructions of medication, especially during the summer.
3. Suncream
Suncream, while a necessity to have on hand for hot days, should not be left in cars.
Apart from potentially causing a mess and making it hot to apply, suncream's prolonged heat exposure can also make it useless.
The active ingredient breaks down in hot temperatures, meaning it will no longer protect your skin properly from UVA or UVB rays.
As a result, you will have increased risk of sunburn and long-term skin damage by relying on this suncream.
4. Water Bottles
Plastic can leach harmful chemicals when heated up.
Harmful chemicals like BPA may permeate into water of plastic bottles, especially after long periods of heat exposure.
Even BPA-free plastic shouldn't be left in extreme temperatures.
It is best to use reusable stainless steel or glass bottles, for safer hydration.
But these should also be taken with you when you leave the car.

5. Sunglasses
People regularly leave sunglasses on the dashboard when they leave the car, however this can ruin them.
Heat can cause the plastic frames of sunglasses to warp, and their lenses may become distorted or cracked.
Left unprotected, they are also more likely to get scratched or discoloured.
It is therefore advised to always keep sunglasses in a proper case and out of direct sunlight when not in use.
6. Aerosol Cans
Pressurised aerosol cans can pose an extreme risk when left in a hot car.
This includes deodorants, air fresheners, hairsprays or cleaning sprays.
Pressure inside aerosol cans increases with rising temperatures, which can cause them to rupture or explode.
This can be extremely dangerous and lead to a serious fire or injury.
Even if it does not explode, the heat can degrade the contents, reduce its performance or cause leaks.
7. Electronics and power banks
Devices like laptops, tablets, and portable chargers also present a risk when left in the heat.
As most electronics contain lithium-ion batteries, they are high sensitive to extreme temperatures, and may swell, leak or catch fire.
Exposure to warmth also can cause them to degrade much faster, and shorten their overall lifespan.
Internal components may also be damaged, like the screens or circuit boards of devices, such that they become unusable.

Registering a restored or modified car just got easier – here's why
A raft of new changes have been announced for the UK's car registration process which will give drivers greater freedom and autonomy when it comes to registering modifications and repairs to their pride-and-joy. Set to come into effect on 28 August 2025, the DVLA has announced that drivers will no longer have to notify the authorities of any like-for-like repairs or restorations to their car, provided that the end product looks identical to how it did when it left the factory. While drivers historically haven't needed to inform the DVLA of every small change they make – you don't need to update your V5C after adding a spoiler or new set of wheels, for example – UK rules previously stated that drivers must flag any significant repair or replacement work, particularly to a car's frame or bodyshell. Now, however, there's no requirement to do so, provided the damaged parts are swapped for identical ones. Vehicles undergoing significant structural modifications – such as having the monocoque or dimensions altered (i.e. made significantly wider or turning a coupe into a convertible, for example) – will now also be able to retain their original Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and registration. In this instance, however, the DVLA will need to be contacted. While the DVLA will continue to require that you notify it of a fuel type change, the vehicle in question will be able to retain its original identity if it changes from a petrol to an electric car. All of the above counts for vehicles of all ages – not just classic cars – with full guidance set to be announced once the rules come into effect. That said, drivers will still be required to notify the DVLA – as well as their insurance provider – of changes to things such as their car's engine displacement, number of seats and colour. Labour Minister for the Future of Roads, Lilian Greenwood said: 'We know how much love, time and effort goes into keeping classic cars – and we're right behind the community.' 'These changes are about cutting red tape and making life easier for enthusiasts, whether you're restoring a vintage gem or converting it to electric,' said Greenwood. 'It's all about celebrating the UK's amazing motoring heritage and helping the industry thrive well into the future." Of course, it's worth mentioning that while this will certainly save classic car restorers and enthusiasts some time and headaches while also preserving historic vehicle identities, the move could also be viewed by cynics as a DVLA cost-cutting measure given that it'll ultimately mean fewer registration alterations to process. Nevertheless, Dale Keller, the CEO of the Historic and Classic Vehicle Association said the DVLA should be 'applauded' for the decision, calling it a 'testament to the hard work of the HCVA, and others, that the government has listened and acted with pragmatic changes that place the retention of historic identity at the forefront of registration policy, a move that will be welcomed by all historic vehicle specialists, owners, and historians.' French firm teams up with JetZero on hydrogen-powered flight
PARIS, Aug 20 (Reuters) - A French technology startup unveiled plans on Wednesday to work with clean-aircraft venture JetZero to explore a potential hydrogen-powered variant of its futuristic all-wing design. The move by SHZ Advanced Technologies is likely to rekindle a debate over the potential for zero-emission flight, six months after Europe's Airbus ( opens new tab put the brakes on plans to develop the world's first hydrogen-powered airliner. California-based JetZero aims to challenge the traditional duopoly of Airbus and Boeing (BA.N), opens new tab by developing a so-called blended wing-body aircraft, which it claims will be able to cut fuel consumption - and therefore carbon emissions - in half. JetZero and SHZ now plan to work together under a NASA research programme to design systems capable of storing and distributing liquid hydrogen fuel, which could eliminate carbon emissions altogether and evolve into a variant of JetZero's Z4. Hydrogen is prized for its carbon-free emissions and high energy related to mass, which makes it lighter than normal fuel. However, it also takes up much more volume and must be cooled to -253 degrees Celsius, making storage a significant challenge. JetZero's blended wing-body design features a V-shaped fuselage that acts as a wing and reduces friction in the air, rather than the familiar wings and cylindrical fuselage. "Due to the wider fuselage, the airframe is far more compatible with (liquid hydrogen) fuel tanks without sacrificing passenger seating, as a 'tube and wing' airplane would," SHZ Advanced Technologies said on Wednesday. Airbus said in February it was slowing down efforts to produce a hydrogen-powered regional plane and dropped a target date of 2035, blaming a lack of supporting infrastructure. Boeing, by contrast, has been cool on the commercial viability of hydrogen flight altogether. The concept of a blended wing-body design has been around since the 1940s and led to the U.S. B-2 bomber, as well as the X-48 research project between Boeing and NASA some 18 years ago. JetZero is revisiting such designs as the aviation industry struggles to meet a target of net-zero emissions by 2050. Airbus has argued that combining such radical changes to the shape of a plane with an entirely new propulsion system would be too ambitious, and is focusing instead on hydrogen-based fuel cells inside a normal tubular aircraft configuration. But SHZ Advanced Technologies' co-founder Eric Schulz - a former senior executive at Rolls-Royce (RR.L), opens new tab and Airbus - said JetZero would approach the task in two phases with the initial focus on a conventionally powered all-wing plane. Any hydrogen-based variant would come in a second step, he told Reuters. The French firm says it has developed hydrogen tanks that save space by avoiding the usual cylindrical shape needed for pressurised vessels and can fit more easily into the flowing contours of the Z4's fuselage. JetZero, whose backers include United Airlines (UAL.O), opens new tab, said in June it was on track to fly a full-scale prototype of the revolutionary 250-passenger airplane in 2027.
